Just wondering if anyone out there knows what the extra parts in the walthers power plant kit made. If anyone could advise it would be greatly appricated.

I'm not familiar with that particular kit, but others I have built recently had a lot of extra parts.  It seems that the castings are made to fit several different kits and there are lots of spare parts, especially windows and window glass.

All of the Walhers kits, and most other manufacuters for that matter, have extra parts.  In the manufacturing process it is frequently cheaper just to include extra parts rather than come up with a specific process or tooling for each kit.  I save the parts and sooner or later come up with a need for them.  I built the Northern Power kit a couple of years ago and I don't think the extra parts built any particular structure.
