Try the link above for some general info on building layouts, and this link: http://www.trains.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/001/296zmshd.asp for specifics on HO scale items, including track width. The height of the rail is in the "code" that you choose: cose 100 is 100/1000ths high (i.e. 1/10 of an inch). Ties may vary in thickness, but it is safe to assume that the ties are not as high as the rails - in real life, they may be 6" high by 9" wide. I like the table so far - will you add bracing to the legs? Andrew
