I bought new walthers swithces (dcc friendly) do the need to have feeders on all tracksing comming off of them ? or are the a power routing
thanks ray
Hello Ray,
If you look at the bottom, you should see several small metal strips. While these will route the power from one rail to another it is still a good idea to drop feeders on each set of tracks that join to the turnout.
Additionally, the joiners will probably loosen over time and then the power could disappear. So, while some may prefer not to solder the joiners on the turnouts, I have done this for the very reason cited. I've had to go back to turnouts that have worked perfectly for some period of time and solder the joiners in order to restore power. Your choice.
Lastly, even with all of the above, I've found these small metal strips can come loose after the turnout is fastened to the roadbed. Solution, is to ohm out where the missing connection is and to drop an additional feeder in that location. I've done a few.
Good luck and regards,
Tom
