I am 54 years old and a retired U.S. Navy Aeorgrapher's Mate (Weather Guesser). I have been a "serious" model railroader since about 1984. Being a career Navy type has made it diffucult to build a permanent layout (ask Dave Vollmer if you don't believe me!). However, since retiring, I have been able to get one layout to a reasonable complete stage. That, however, was torn down when my wife and I moved from Washington State to her home state of Utah. Once we got set up here, I built a second layout in a back bedroom - this was largely unsuccessful.
My latest model railroad venture, begun 1-1-11, is to build and operate an HO scale version of the Pennsy's Trenton Cutoff. The time frame will be 1973ish and I plan on running (as did the prototype) a lot of heavy electrics - GG1s, E33s, and others. This puts me in the Penn Central era, which is the railroad which I most remember from my youth.
