I started off being a car nut when I was a little girl... I blame it on someone buying me a toy car instead of a doll!  In 2003, my boyfriend drove us out to Hoosac Tunnel, and we saw a freight train.  I've been hooked since then.  My "layout" is called the Not Quite Model Railroad, for obvious reasons!  I have been building N scale structures to keep busy while I look for work.
