Quotidian Company Boxcab

A better look at the Hustler/Roundhouse kitbash. You can sort of see the modified drive through the side window. The boxcab shell was shortened quite a bit to fit the Hustler running gear. The critter is still powered by "rubber bands" (Hi-F Drive in Athearnspeak), but a large pulley at the motor to create some crazy ratio. The original idea is from an article in Model Railroader in 1957. I call it the Travis drive after the author of the article. The pulleys were from some science kit I found in a hobby shop. I repowered the beast with a Canon 24 volt motor, which probably makes more of a difference than the pulley. The boxcab's low speed has been clocked at a little over 2 scale mph. A far cry from the rocket like speed of the original. Probably should dust the model off once in a while.
