Eastbound QD196 (quick dispatch) is passing through Fairmont, W. Va. from Wheeling, to Cumberland, Md. behind a new pair of EMD F-7's, while Extra 2855 westbound (under the coal tower) takes on a load of coal. Extra 2855 Origionated in Clarksburg, W. Va. and terminates here in Fairmont. The yards are just ahead to the left, past Federal Junction. The coal tower was built in 1930 and is flanked by the newly rebuilt roundhouse and diesel refueling facilities.Steam still has some reign as is evident this Fall day in 1955.
