I'm Dave, and I'm a modelbuilder. Nice to meet you.

Was considering trying to convert the Minicraft Stephenson "Rocket" to a light hauler. Was figuring easiest to go battery power and R/C, but if anybody has any reccommendations, I'd appreciate them. Note that this is not to be a protypical build - I'm more in the AWNUTS vein.

A little background: I started my original GNOme-gauge project several years ago, after a modelbuilding and model railroading buddy showed me sketches he'd done of a similar project he'd planned to build someday. Although he'd planned to use HOn3 mechanisms to build his, I grabbed an inexpensive Bachman N-gauge Porter and got to work.

It featured several S, O, and HO-based details, and some scratchbuilding. The idea behind GNOme-gauge was that it was made from all those model RR pieces and parts that disappear from the top of the worktable when you're not looking. A fried Sagami can motor and the death of my friend put that project back in the box for many years. The other day, I won the Minicraft Rocket in a club raffle, and it got me thinking about building a similar layout, but one that would really run in the garden...

..which brings me to thoughts of motorizing it, and adding all kinds of whimsical gizmology.

Dave
