Traction

I have some locos that have plastic wheels/drivers that had something like a rubber band around them for traction. Over time the bands broke.  I'm thinking of using "Liquid Insulation" or maybe it's called "Liquid Tape" on them. Seems like I could brush it one and smooth it out and maybe even cut some small grooves once it drys. Someone also suggested "Liquid Rubber" tha'ts used for molds.  Anyone have any experience or suggestions?  Thx

Buy the traction tire's they are cheaper in the long run, then all the work you plan on doing to avoid the cost of traction tires. BTY, I HAVE 8 or 9 engins that require traction tires and I would only use what the manufacture supplies.

Besides replacing the traction tires, another option is to replace the grooved wheel with a solid one. The primary reason for traction tires is to compensate for a light locomotive. You can add weight to your loco with the addition of lead fishing weights epoxied inside.
