I took my Bachmann Annie to Ric Golding's fall operating session. Since he is mainly battery powered, I put 12 AA batteries and one of the Aristo Trackside receivers in the tender. Wal*Mart has 12 packs of AA cells for just under 7 bucks and just over 4 bucks. I took the cheaper route and went with Rayovac.

So how did it do? We had a busy weekend running all afternoon Saturday and all afternoon Sunday in passenger service. After all Ric's rolling stock was put away Sunday, the neighbor boys still wanted to run, so I let them pull my Sierra coaches around the layout. I have BB wheelsets in these heavy coaches and they ran very nicely on Ric's track, even a couple spots where his bachmann coaches tended to come off.

Annie was the last loco running both Saturday and Sunday, and the batteries gave up just before 6:00 Sunday Evening. Expensive? I spent more on food driving to and from Carlyle than I did on the batteries I ran down.

It is aways nice to hear that someone had an enjoyable weekend running their trains. Especially when making a change to their normal practice.
