I run mine on track power and I love it. I read on this forum a few horror stories about the gearboxes, wiring and wheel counter weights falling off but I've had no problem at all, plus I bought it when Bachmann reduced their prices (at least in the UK) and it cost me £250ish rather than £380ish.
