I honestly cannot beleive it when I see some college kid or a guy guy in a business suit talking ghetto, I have to fight to keep from laughing. Its bad enough that the kids in our poorer neighborhoods cant speak English at a fourth grade level, then complain because they cant get beyond the most basic employment levels. "Yo yo yo, No-un will gib me a job cus da cant undastan me.." They dont learn this manner of speach at schools, they learn it from there peers, and from MTV videos who teach them that Eminem and Fifty Cent (Pronounced Fity cent) are roll models, I fear for America's future...
Vic,

Are you sure you are from the LEFT COAST? I see a gram of conservatism in your statement, but then again even Michael Savage likes trains.

I would very much like to place some of the words on this forum in use in everyday langauge. I have been interjecting these words and phrases appearenly unawares.
I was told so by my wife...too much time in the forum, she says?!

I'm sure you will all find my accent to be strange, it is purely a television one, with elements of Tex-Mex, Texas and Southern accents made to sound ridiculous by a slight lisp (of which i have actively worked to remove). I hate the sound of my voice, but people seem to like my singing... http://carrales.tripod.com

Capt Carrales
If you've ever read one of my political rants on the Trains magazine forums or on the Model RR forum (before they got nuked) you would know I am very Liberal (Yes, the other "L" word![:D]), but being liberal doesnt mean embracing the stupidity that seams to be ever infesting all of our supposed "cultural" institutions. Take music for example, I loath most Rap and Techno music for its astounding lack of "music" or "singing" or at least original music, any one can sample someone elses creation and then add thier own lame ryhmes to it and given that anyone can now burn CD's, any moron with a mixing machine can become a record producer. Its not just Rap or Techno, can you name one good Rock band since Green Day that has produced an album with more than two good songs on it? Pretty rare these days, most are One Hit Wonders that fade quickly. So as you can clearly see I have some issues with todays music industry. Dont get me wrong even I like some Rap and Hip-Hop ( I admit a special like for Cypress Hill ) but I find myself listening more and more to older music from the 70's (Classic Rock), 80's ( New Wave, Punk movement) than to most music produced in the 90's or today.

What I really have a hard time with referring to my initial rant , is that our young peoples roll models today are the same as they were when we were kids, rock stars and sports stars. But in our day if they came from a poor background they poised themselves as far as they could from those beginnings, they strove to be good speakers in public and to be good roll models for the kids that envied them, letting kids know that they should strive to get a good education, go to college, etc. But todays roll models instead embrace the Ghetto, dont emphisis education, dont emphisis kids bettering themselves, no, instead they emphisis getting rich by any means possible is the only thing to strive for. Going to Prison is a required to gain respect in some circles. Dont go to college, you can become rich by selling drugs. Dont obey the law, cause you dont have any "street credit" unless you've done time in prison. Be a skanky Ho because then you can marry a rich Rapper. Now granted the performers that make up this segment of the music industry are small compared to the whole, but they have a HUGE influence. I also blame parents who let there 12 year olds dress like cheap hookers and then drive them to Brittany Spears (Wow has she turned into a bad roll model) or Christina Agulara (Oh my did she go bad) trash-o-thon concerts.

Is it just me that thinks why the music industry is getting such a bad repution? I love music, I listen to some of the hardest **** you've ever heard. but even punk bands like the Dead Kennedy's always had a message of self awareness and social commentary ( pay attention to what those in power are doing around you) that just isn't there with most of today's music. anyway Rant Over [:D]
Vic,

If you want to get really political, you can go to...

http://www.ericvonwade.com/community/index.asp?board=1&board_name=General

He is a conservative talkshow host in Corpus Chrisiti, Texas. The forum is as free as this one but it is purely political. Very little is ever erased for content and there us a lively bunch of various political views. You don't have to be conservative to post there, we have Conservatives, National Sovergntists, Communists, Socialists and more. I think you could prosper there and help keep out of the Trains.com S-list for being too political.
