Marklin-LGB compatability

Why would you use a third companies track with two other brands of trains? We had a store and carried LGB and Marklin. I had LGB running on a Marklin track but not with switches. Since Marklin provides two chips with their locomotives 1 for AC(Marklin) and 1 for DC(other brands) you could actually use the LGB transformer to run either locomotive with that transformer. Try a close by hobby shop to find out the perfoooormance of an LGB on Marklin stainless steel track. It's reasonable too. <br />RegardsPeter
