I wish they'd go to Standard Time and just stick with it.  I remember back in the 1970s when they went Daylight Savings Time during one of the energy crises thinking it would save fuels and maybe it did.  But the downside was kids were going to school in the DARK!

Oh yes.  And not only that but we had to share our building with another entire elementary school.  They used it in the morning and we went to school around 2pm to I think 7 or 7:30.  Sad

Personally I think DST is just idiotic.  "I don't like what time it is... let's just change the clock." Crying

KNEW I remembered it right!  Talk about serendipity, this news story just popped up today.

Good Afternoon -

Yeah, this time change stuff is killer - really hate this time of year.

We ran over to Greenburgs Edison on Sunday and Jenni spent the bulk of the monies.  I did pick up an MPC era Santa Fe A-B unit with 3 cars and caboose, loop of track and a transformer for $25.  Jenni bought more N and Z scall stuff and we picked up some Bachmann EZ track for her On30 set.

Sunday afternoon, I stood honor guard for out past president and past chief of the fire dept.  67 years young.  Then went to the seamstress to get the final fitting for Jenni's gown for my daughter's wedding next Monday.  Just got back from the funeral procession where we had honors in front of the firehouse.

I skipped the church and graveside services as I need to be here at work, since I'm taking off for a week.

KRM - yeah, we racked up almost $2K in vet bills from November to February - definiately ain't cheap.

Rain and maybe Snohizo tonight - maybe an inch - 44F today.  80 on Friday in FLA USA

Back soon

Boy, I sure do not like DST - it is pitch black outside.

I hear you!  Yesterday morning I was (ahem) "bladdered" out of bed in the pitch dark.  When I looked at the bathroom clock I saw it was 7:00 AM!  "It can't be!" I said to myself, "It's DARK!"  A day earlier it would have been light by 7:00 and I would have stayed up.  So I went back to bed and didn't wake up again until 9:30. Threw off the timing for the whole morning.  What are you gonna do?

I wish they'd go to Standard Time and just stick with it.  I remember back in the 1970s when they went Daylight Savings Time during one of the energy crises thinking it would save fuels and maybe it did.  But the downside was kids were going to school in the DARK!

Aloha and Happy Monday. Boy, I sure do not like DST - it is pitch black outside. And I am always tired for a week or so whilst I adjust. Oh well. Supposed to be winter-like cold this week. I had a pleasant afternoon yesterday playing an old Milton Bradley boardgame caled Broadsides and Boarding Parties. Also stopped by our local comic book store but didn't pick up anything. Made burgers for family dinner last night and sent off the youngest's GF on her way back to college in FL. Do not have too many work projects today.

Mornin' guys and gals. Thin coating of snohizo and 37 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Highways look clear.

Phoenix race was good, and not too long. Princess sparkle pony did here usual annoying best in the broadcast booth, even wishing for a late caution... 4 team should send her a bouquet.

Think I'll go trackside today. PirateParadise

Was a busy week.  My wife and I both came down with covid.  Fortunately, mild cases - similar to sinus infections.

I did manage to make some progress on my front porch roof re build.  Got the 2x12 side beams and the 4x12x30' LVL front beam up on the 9' tall columns.  Had to build a couple of sky hooks and use a pair of come alongs to get the front beam up.  Rafter material is being delivered tomorrow.

In the middle of this, I made a trip up to Michigan to check our house there and empty the PO box.  On the way back to Missouri, I went through Lowell, Indiana hoping to find Spike's Railhead open.  Unfortunately, he was not, so I didn't get a chance to see what Lionel goodies came in since my last visit.

By Friday we both got negative covid tests.

I watch sports (Baseball, football), Trains and Locomotives on RFD-TV (along with I Love Toy Trains on the same channel), and some old cartoons like "The Flintstones", "Looney Tunes" and "Scooby Doo Where Are You?"

Fife, wife and I are big fans of GRIT watch it all the time. Lots of old forgoten westerns on there. Better than todays new shows.

You ain't kiddin'!  Aside from "NCIS" and shows on HGTV, Magnolia, Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild we don't watch much of anything, although Lady F likes the Thursday night sitcoms.

Good Morning,

A great weekend to stay home!  Pretty much IF you want to go anywhere more than 20 miles from here your going to have flooding issues.  (Exception down to San Diego on the 5, appears to be clear.)  Then what I heard this morning is that the system coming in Tue/Wed will bring 1-3" in our area.  Shouldn't be an issue for us, will just need to drain more water from the pool.  If were to head north that would be a problem, then what would you do when you get to your destination?  Everyone is trying to recover from the flood issues.  Oh Well, It Is What It Is.

I will be just fiddling around with the layout, finish my lighting project. Then do some detail cleaning. Should complete the lighting today.

So take care all and have a great week-end.

Kevin, sorry to hear of issues with pup, You would think the state could put some control on the puppy mills but guess people need to complain to get anything done. I know the Amish usually enforce there own laws and states sometimes have hard time placing there laws into the community ( I know from living in PA. amish area when younger. ) My father use to say the Menonite ( relax branch of Amish to a certain point.) knew two speeds when driving stop and full speed ahead.

Happy belated birthday to your wife.

We got about an inch of the white stuff last night, dog likes it, wife not so much on the dog's paws. Laugh

Boy CA is getting blasted hope Don does not get washed into the ocean. Surprise They should have plenty of water this year.

Dog is on last day of meds trying to cure her infections because she is a Amish  puppy mill dog. She starts them again in three weeks. That will be right after she gets fixed. She had a bad case of giardia from living in the barn stall. Tongue Tied Our vet told us that the Amish run a lot of puppy mills so I looked it up and the place we got her was not that bad but they did treat the dogs as livestock and not much more. Oh well, live and learn. Enough on that, SoapBox

Not much else going on. Be good. Big Smile

Update: RT well it could of been worse I guess. She will get better, just thoes Vets like the $$$$$.

I forgot to say I got some new tires for the Gator and boy do I like them.

Here is a picture of Agnes in her shed bed.

I started watching Tales of Wells Fargo, on GRIT channel.

Wow!  I've got to look for that!  I remember "Tales of Wells Fargo" from when I was a little boy.  I don't remember everything about the show except Dale Robertson was my hero!

Right now Lady Firestorm is binge watching "Rawhide" on FETV.  They didn't watch the show in her house when she was growing up (We never missed it in our house, Mom was crazy about Westerns) so she's making up for lost time!

Mornin' guys and gals. Overcast and 28 with snohizo on the way. Gotta lot to do today, prepping for an upcoming trip. Need to replace a blinker bulb on the truck, too.

Spent another Saturday watching the toddler. He took a pretty long nap, which allowed me to screen the last 007 flick. In short, I found it entertaining, and on par with the other Craig movies.

Because of our mentioning the Marx WM Crooks loco, I started watching Tales of Wells Fargo, on GRIT channel. Campy, yet fun Western. I used to think Longmire had an unusual high body count, but that show ain't got nothing on Wells Fargo. Rambo would be impressed. Laugh

Evening,

Went to the Piedmont Division Model Train Show in Cartersville, GA today. Had a great time!

I picked up a Lionel Southern Railway GP38 in Green, White and Gold (from a freight set) as well as a caboose from said set. I also picked up a Lionel BN bay window caboose, a Lionel Canadian Pacific boxcar, and a Lionel MPC Illinois Central GP9 (#8030)

Good Afternoon

46F today and cloudy - rain and wet Snohizio have stopped.

Work is slow today and I've lost my ability to track work, so I have to ask permission (again) for the tracking software and, like normal, there is no one in today to do that.

I've run off at different times to gather up more items and store them away.  I'm trying to square the house away as the pet sitter is coming on Wednesday.  I'd like the house to be a tad neater than it is now.  Putting away another house foull of stuff in a house full of 2 other houses is a challenge.

Our "new" bedroom is getting more organized and is more comfortable and that is a blessing.  Once I can get rid of the sleeper love seat, I can put another bed in there and we'll have room for at least 3 guests.

We leave Wednesday night for Florida after the pet sitter leaves, I hope to pack the Magnum starting on Monday.

We'll make a quick trip to Greenburg's Edison tomorrow, then stand as Honor Guard for one of our members that succumbed to stomach cancer.  He was 1 year younger than I.

Happy Birthday Mrs. KRM and Kay

Winter still has its grip on the northland.  Our prediction is for 7 - 10 inches with some areas possibly getting more. There is just a fine powder drifting down right now with the brunt of the storm to come through tonight and into monday morning.  It makes me thankful that I have an indoor hobby to rely on and a guy I hire to keep the driveway clear.

I'm working on getting some photos ready to post tomorrow.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

This morning They said it's 47* and feels like 45*, I've spent the last hour or so digging holes transplanting the dirt to elsewhere and planting 6 rose bush, mixing miaclegrow soil and chicken chit to use in the planting. All I know right now my fingers feel 1/2 frozen.

So now we will have 10 roses bushes in all. Planted 4 last year.

Suppose to have a guy come over later to give me an idea on cost to put french drain and lay gravel in an area of about 15' x 30' French drain will be part of that.

Otherwise no plans right now.

Now it's 53* and feels like 54*, more flowers to plant this afternoon.

Aloha and TGIF. I am psyching myself up to take both dogs to the groomers during lunch. Why do I do this to myself? We got a few inches of heavy wet snow last night - the kind they call 'heart attack snow' - but when I went out there this morning, I took care to just push it to the sides of the driveway. Right on schedule, as soon as I finished a city plow came by and buried the end of the driveway again. Ah well. At least it is above freezing. I don't expect it to be long for the world. Sent the snow off to points east. At the same time, it took me a few hours to drive home from Chicago so I moved my final class of the semester to Zoom because I didn't want to battle the elements to get to the community college. Everyone showed up online so they got my messages. No big plans for the weekend which I am looking forward to - doing nothing.

I always make myself scarce when my wife's friends show up too. I usually set them up first with a round of drinks though. ;)

One of the women in my wife's Bunco group would show up a little early, and practice throwing the dice so 'she would do better' during the game.

Dice? Hmmm, have you ever thought about hijacking the whole bunch and getting a crap game started in the garage?  Laugh

Good Evening All,

Currently its quiet and beautifull around here today.  Nice sunny warm day.  But that will change soon!  Suppose to rain begining tomorrow for a couple of days, then more on Tues/Wed.  "They" are saying we are haveing a "La Nina" affect going on causing the wet weather.

Took Kay out to a real nice dinner last night, for her Birthday.  Chris and Annie joined us.  We were at the "Orange County Minning Company", its a 5 Star restaurant that sets on top of hill in Orange County, on a clear night, (last night was) you can see the majority of the LA basin, even downtown LA.  Was very beautiful!  She enjoyed her birthday, so we did well.

Spent today babysitting Chris' house, Chris has shutters put in, and he was working in Hollywood at the Oscars.  So we were at the house.  The installers had their act together and did a great job.

I'm still working on my Street Light project on the layout, just a few more to go.  I like the looks of them, just hope they will last awhile.

Kay's Bunco crowd will be here tomorrow night, so will definitely make myself scarce.

Kevin, I think you would be a VERY popular neihbor out here with you driveway building skills.

Take care all, and dtry to stay dry.

Gooood afternoon,

Like Doug, just waiting on the weather. Looks like he has more to worry about than us at this point.

Doug, It was a bit costy because we got CA7 3/4" no fines. $12.75 a ton. CA6 road mix in only $6.75 a ton but wew are hauling it ourselves and putting it on old CA6 that has plenty of fines. So it is just cost of gravel and fuel. Brain has the truck and dump trailer. That helps a lot these days. I been hauling and spreading gravel on this lane for 19 years now and there is never an end to it.

Waiting on Fedex to get here with my tires.

Wifey is 62 today and will start SS next month. Yes Cat Dog and I have been treating her as always as the queen she is for us. Cake Happy B-Day I got her a beef with fries for lunch from a place she loves, so I should be good.

Bout it from this neck of the woods above Marseilles IL.

Evenin' guys and gals. Sunny & 55 in the Potomac Highlands. Got the oil changed in the Durango, made a stop at TJ Max for big pink suitcase for Ms Kelly (stop it, we're fine...), Bath & Bodywork's for smelly scents, some decor at our Surplus City, then off to Helmstetters Curve for a hike. Got lasagna cooking in the oven.

Neighbor out back said a bear got his bird feeder, so I got the trail cam trained on ours, too. Guess it's time, as trees are just starting to bud around here.

Aloha. Happy Thursday.  Yesterday turned super busy but I managed to take the doggos for a walk at the end of the day. I made a quick pasta with red sauce for dinner last night.  Today I drove into the city for a half-day of emergency management training by DHS and FEMA. Made it in only an hour and a half. Going to take a longtime employee who is leaving - and her team - out to lunch today. Hope to beat the snow home. I moved my last class to Zoom because we may get a few inches tonight - and up to 10 inches on Friday. I hope they are wrong...

Kevin, that is a good price for gravel.

Hi there,

Becky, take it easy never under estimate the gift of life. Wink Angel

Hauling gravel today for the lane with the neighbor, 5 6 ton loads = $500.00 Sad and that don't go far on a half mile long lane. We will pick away at it as the money comes.

I ordered new tires for the Gator that was $404.00 and I still need to get them mounted once they get here with it pushing 900 hours they are thin to the wind. Also with wife and daughter birthdays this month,,,ouch. Smile, Wink & Grin.

Good to see guys checking in that have been gone too long. Yes

The SIL's name is Danny Zip it!

Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy, breezy 43 along the Allegheny front-range. Honey Nut Cheerios with fresh blueberries for breakfast. Nothing planned for today.

Grandmom and I spent the day at Middle Princess's castle, watching the grandson. It was nice enough for us to spend an hour outside, hauling "timber" in the bed of his new big truck. Then a half dozen solo runs on his sliding board. Good time. The boy is so pleasant. "Danny" will probably be a hard case...Devil

Evening all.

I still have a fair amount of O gauge and plan to keep them. My plan for my new layout thou is going to be 2 loops of standard gauge and 2 loops Of O gauge. If any switches it will be in the O gauge. I think I will be using O-63 and O-54. The stamdard gauge is 84" and 72" curves.  Hopefully this will leave at least 4' thru the center of my 10' 4" wide layout.

I will probably be using my 390E & 402 as my engines. ( the 402 has dual motors) The 402 should be able to pull a good load, and I have a 514 refrigerator car and 3 passenger cars behind the 400E which is a 4-4-4

Haven figured which O I want to run, but probably my EM1 (2-8-8-4) for one. Iplan on running one O gauge with TMCC  (LegacyL) set, and the other 3 rail will run off of my 3 TPC's Using the legacy L system to control them.

Otherwise not much going on here.

Mornin' guys and gals. Sunny & 31 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Ms Kelly is babysitting, and I'll be heading to get her breakfast after while. I did get to the chapter caboose/museum yesterday, as the weather was nice. Not too many visitors this weekend.

88 - I shall tell Middle Princess about your Danny tie-in, I'm sure it will push it over the edge... I'm also excited about your Hawaii trip.
