Monday - errand day.  Didn't get much else done.

A bicycle tour on the KATY trail came into town today.  Dog and my's daily walk on the trail was very interesting, as the dog was in 'persuit mode' because of the bicycles for better than 1/2 of the walk.  Then again, that burned off a lot of his excess energy so he was quieter than usual for the rest of the day.

My wife and I went out to a local steak house Saturday night figuring on one of their blue plate type of specials.  While we were waiting for a table, I was parusing the farm auction notices that were posted.  The date of October 6 on one of them looked familiar, so I asked my wife "what day is our anneversary?"  She replies "October 6".  So I says "happy anneversary".  She says " is that today?"

We had filet minion instead of the blue late to celebrate our 39th.

Roy - I was considering putting LED's into the switches and controllers.  They will last much longer, cutting down on maintenance, since this is going to be a museum display.  Thanks for the source callout.  I picked up a 10 watt transformer today for this application.

All for now.

76 degrees and super muggy at 9PM on October 8th. Who'd of thunk?????

Kev........the Gator looks good

Hillclimb was slickery for the 1st round but pretty good for the 2nd.

Today I did some stuff around the house and crashing early.

Mrs has an OB doc appointment in Cumberland MD. tomorrow morning. It's an hour drive but several MD's and other medical professionals have told us there are no good OB's in our area.

Best get to sleep.

Mornin' boys.  Wifey and I spent the day at Deep Creek for our anniversary.  We hiked to Swallow Falls, dined near the water, and played putt-putt golf in McHenry.  I'm a fortunate man.

Not as fortunate as anjdevil though.  Geez, Richie, talk about the fox in the henhouse...

88 - good luck with everything.

rt - hope the cardio thingie went well.

Banks - Best wishes to the Mrs.  Train departs at 11:30.

Morning all.

Right now I'm trying to get pre-approved for a new home loan, Saluda County, S.C. has no services at all for the elderly/handicap. Wife had a stroke back in Feb. She is doing good now but if something happened to me to where I couldn't do what I do we/she would need asstance. So we are looking to move one county over. Also trying to find something as close as possible to like wal-mart, and groceries stores, which we have found one so far, and it's a good size home. 1275 sqft. on .40 arces of land.

My card rehab is easy I do it 3 times a week.

Sunny today and Mid 80s...and humid.....Not complaining.....

Well, looks like my luck has run out on the garage, so I will be garage shopping Saturday and start cleaning out the garage that I'm renting.  End of year, I'm out.  Can't keep the bird out in the cold....nor the bike, for that matter....so there will be a train buying hiatus...maybe I can build the layout in the attic soon, I have to go get the lumber (FREE).

Fife - There was one that I grew up with, her husband was a NJ State Trooper, LODD, not sure how.  She was hot in grade school.  Things haven't changed.  Now that I recall, I did grow up with quite a few hot females in my school and on my block......but, I was good....

Slower today, only 10 so far, still 2.5 hours to go.

Got my BC cars in and they are just beautiful.  Not out of the boxes just yet, but soon.

One on my desk, gotta go.....

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Comfortabl weather for walk.  Did some yard pick up and some light tree trimming.  Hearing went well for Lucas.  Have to wait for judge to make decision on visitation process.  All else is settled.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Again couldn't acess this site. Last try was about 10:30am with no luck. Funny it seems this is happening more and more since someone isn't here any more. I wonder if he could acess it and reset it at home. As when it did happen it wasn't like that very long.

Afternoon ( now ) all. Heading to see my DR. today for a regular check up. I'm ready to hear it from her about my A1C. I'm sure it's up there.

Not much else is going on.

Morning.  Cloudy and rain to come.  Not as much as orignally forecasted.  Still a lot.  East will probably get a lot less.  Good for farmers.  Mountains and west are really getting more than us.   Flooding there.

RT is probably getting a lot of rain.

Later.

Happy Thursday................

Spent the day at the clinic for an evaluation of a new drug for me, my lungs are and have been sh*t since I was 5.  Looks good, breathing better.  Followup next month.

My Temple Observation car comes in on Saturday, so the passenger cars are all done, just need to get the engine out of hock and the roster is complete.  Most likely the end of train purchases for a while, since I have to go garage shopping, which I'll do on Saturday, along with the service on the Hemi Magnum and my usual housework and laundry.  Appears to be a long Saturday.

Prayers to all affected and in the path of Michael, flood watches and high wind warnings are being posted at 6PM tonight.  Temp a big temp drop to a high of 50 Saturday.

Not so busy yesterday and nothing happening right now.  Have 3 so far.  need 10 more before 5 PM today.....

back when I can

Some here will remember Dennis Wiemer in south GA.  Text him this AM.  He replied 20 trees down and one through roof.  All OK.  No power and has water.  No generator as they never drop power there.

Remember Dennis.

Hello there,
Prayers for those in the path of the storm.

Another warm rainy day. Bumper crop if plants didn't drown. If you could only get it dry enough to harvest. Ears are molding in the husk and soybean are sprouting still on the plant.

Been busy doin nuttin the last couple o days.

Mrs OB visit went well. Get a mammogram and see next year.

Been burning brush and getting ready to saw the branches and split the trunks.

Heard from surveyor yesterday. As I expected neighbors garage and brick patio fence are within 4 inches of the line. The overhang and some plantings are over. He thinks he has 3 feet more than he does.

Started wine this morning with the grapes from our vine. Haven't done that in years. May do the same with the apples.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need.

WOW, it is 48 degrees cooler than it was Tuesday afternoon and will be lucky to hit 50 today. Frost tonight! WTH? Lots-O-Leaves down but to wet to burn.

Grandson Jordan's inguinal hernia repair surgery went well yesterday and he is home resting,   Now if he will just cool it with the Hulk thing he should be good. What do ya do? Boys at five!!  Wink

Man that was sure a fast and bad storm. Prayers for those in the path. Mexico beach is wiped out!

Banks, most the crop is out here. Just the cookie cutter fields left. We have had 4" of rain in the last five days so all stop for now.

Good morning all,

Chief, I was wondering how much rain you got out of the storm.  Just read your post.  I have a sister in the lower part of Fl. but don't think they had any damage.

My brother who passed away recently got a good write up on the Sports page of the Virginian Pilot about his fishing exploits.  He had many awards and recognition for his knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay fishery.  I will miss him terribly.

Kev - thats gettin pretty cold already! Glad the GS is doing OK! Prayers for his recovery.

Chief, thanks for the report on Dennis. Great guy. He made it to York a few years back.

Ray - nice about the recognition they gave your brother!

Banks - ready for York!?

Anj - good news about the new meds!

Nice sunny, clear day today.  Temperature was not much to bag about, though.

Good visit with the doctor today.  She is happy with my blood sugar levels and has cut my blood pressure medicine dose in half.

We've discovered somebody made an 'oops' in the transition between company health coverage and COBRA coverage when I retired.  After $2,000 plus in preimium payments, the insurance company is still saying that my coverage ended the last of August, when the company informed them I had retired.  The feedback I am getting is that it should be an easy fix.  Hopefully a quick one as well - we've got appointments next week that we'd rather not re-schedule.  This too shall pass......

Got some work done on the Thomas layout at the museum today.  There was another exhibit donated to the museum that required the Thomas layout to get some 18" shorter.  I was originally going to use Fastrack, but with the new space constraints, I am going to use O gage tubular track.  I've got a 6 amp 16 volt transformer on order to handle the four 022 switches on the layout - the entry level CW type power supply is not up to the task.  I'll have to be sure to include proper surge supressors and circuit breakers in the wiring.

We will get the track location finalized tomorrow, then start in with the limited scenery we have planned.  Hopefully, we will get it completed for the kid's program scheduled for a week from Saturday.

Any comments pro or con about cork roadbed, ballast, and extra ties for a tubular layout?

About all for now.

Mornin' boys.  Breezy and cool along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  All that devastation on the FL panhandle, but the news wants to focus on celebrities at the WH...  Before the storm landed, some boat owners were interviewed stating they were going to stay with their vessels.  Never.  NEVER, stay on a boat during a CAT 3 hurricane.  I wonder what became of them.

Angel for those in need, and on the mend.

Sunny and chilly.  Some yard cleanup.  Then head east.  Back tomorrow night.  Will see if the big buck shows and the bear too.

Dennis is a great guy.  Yes, he went to York several years ago.  We rode together.  Great family.  We visited a few ago down at his home.  Sure kids are growing.  Boy is in his teens.

We had only 2.9 inches of rain.  Farms, less.

Have a good one.

Good Friday Morning!!

Dennis is a Yankee and brother firefighter from North Jersey (I don't hold that against him...lol).  He had some trees down and one hit the roof, but he and the fam are A-OK.  He checked in on Facebook.

Rain and wind came through here last night, now partly sunny and very windy.

Fife - even I'm not that stupid to be on a boat in even a Cat 1......and this is why we have to go out and look for these people.......Sigh.  NJ Task Force 1 is down there now after being deployed to NC for a while.  An elite squad.

Looks like my observation car is in, USPS/FedEx delivered it to the front door.  Now to get the BC LionChief Engine next week.  LHS is closed for York, which I will not be able to go due to work, etc.  April might happen, however.

Garage shopping tomorrow.  Gee, can't wait....lol.

Morning,

Your right Roy. We went from summer to winter in a day.

Freeze last night and first fire in the fireplace of the year! 41 right now and that will be as good as it gets today. Rain is on the way. Glad I did about 8 loads of leaves yesterday afternoon.
No report on GS Jordan so I figure he is doing fine.

Getting real interested in getting a new Mossburg #50454 Persauder Pump Shotgun .410. I think the wife could handle it well and would be a great starter gun for the kids to learn on. Won't kick their shoulder off. Yes

Fife, for the life of me I can't figure WHY there was even celebrities at the WH with everything else going on??? Huh? That storm did some bad stuff in a hurry. WOW!!! Those people will need a lot of help for a long time.

I was wondering the same thing. He was bragging he was ( at one time )  in the coast guard that he isn't no dummy. Well now I beleive he may be right as now it is was a dummy. But who knows, if they survived, which I hope they did, that she puts her foot so far up his behind that he can taste it.

Hello there,
Prayers for those dealing with the      aftermath from the storm.

50 with a stiff breeze this AM. 24 degrees cooler than yesterday. At least the mud puddles are drying up.

Surveyor came back today and set some pins.

Rearranged stuff enough to get the Tahoe in the garage to replace the front brake calipers and hoses. Right side was hanging enough to get hot on a short trip. Getting it ready for the trip to York.

Prayers for those in need.

Cloudy and 42, 50s for todays high and into next week.

The trees here are just showing signs of fall. We have no trees but the neighbors always share their leaves with us. No burning here, the city picks them up at the curb on garbage day. They have to be in brown paper bags. Same with garden waste.

D3R club meet tonight, I'm ready.

Good evening,

Well as soon as Katie showed up with Dan,,,,,,I put his a$$ to work, We split all the long oak stumps I had and filled the wood shed last row just shy of full. We humped the logs we could into the splitter than used the grapple to get the rest of the tooo heavy to lift broke in half then split. Was at the wood from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Paced myself but got a he!! of-a-lot done. We need about 1/2 a face to finish it off. Going to look around in the woods for a down Hickory. Man I am tired. Sure goes better with two at it.

Grandson Jordan is doing well, hardest thing is kepping him at a low pace. We watched old VHS tapes from the flood of 1996, I think Dan got a wake up to what bad stuff can be, He was shocked at how fast the water came up and how much it destroyed. I told him next time I will play the tapes from the 1990 tornado so he can know what a bad day is. LOL
Had a bonfire with the splinter wood and stuff full of bugs, Watched the bugs run for their lives and did hot chocolate milk. All in all a Great day on the North Bluff!

Hello there, rain and most of the morning.

Traveled bout an hour to granddaughter's soccer game. She scored one of her team's 7 goals. The other team had 5. Frost predicted tonight .Mrs and I spent a couple of hours bringing in the house plants, repotted a few as needed.

The Tahoe caliper replacement didn't go as smooth as hopped. Cross threaded a brake line on right side. Took some piddeling to get that right. Twisted it off on the other side. Not to bad till I discovered the new brake line didn't match the thread on the antilock module. Hoping to get an adapter tomorrow.

Never did get to hunt early muzzle loader today. Maybe Monday

Best get to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Acutally saw a little sunshine this morning.  Clouded over around lunchtime for the rest of the day.  Supposed to be rainy and in the 30's tomorrow.

Got the health insurance fixed Friday.  Looks like it was a hiccup between the adminstration company and insurance company.  Today's project was with the drug store.  We are using a national chain so we can get refills when we travel.  Went to get a refill today.  The initial response was that the perscription was denied.  Some discussion resulted in an agreement for a small emergency supply.  Getting more people involved resulted in in a deeper investigation into the drug store's perscription system resulted in discovering that the last time the persctiption was filled was when we were up north.  Once that got figured out, all was solved.  Only took a little over an hour.

Got a little more work done on the museum layout.  Started laying the cork roadbed and got some of the streets painted.

All for now.
