88 - I stuck with the Michelin Latitudes.  Sure they are costly, but they give the best ride (from here to YORK...).  Only got 50K out of the first set.

Wifey and I did a little 'splorin' locally yesterday.  Traced the old route of the Patterson Creek cutoff from the Potomac to Short Gap (most of the roadbed still is there), then checked out the remnants of the Western Maryland at Welton tunnel (goes under airport).

Good Sunday morning,

I safely returned home from Turkey yesterday afternoon around 16:30.  The trip went well and Turkey has changed quite a bit since I was last there in 2002.  Ankara is a first-rate city, Izmir is beautifully situated on the coast, and Adana...well, that one needs help.  I didn't make it to Istanbul during this trip but it was great when I was there in 2002.  Many people from the US have no idea how westernized Turkey is and how much they view themselves as closer to Europe and not the Middle East or Arab world.  I will not bore you with all the details but even though this was a work trip, I could see myself visiting Turkey for personal travel.

Rob and Brent - As Brent mentioned before, PSU's season has already been far better than expected so I am good with whatever happens from here on out.  They will definitely play in a major bowl game and if they beat MSU next week and OSU wins, they will play for the Big 10 championship.  If they win that, who knows?

Dougdagrump - I'm so glad to have you back posting.  Please take it easy and enjoy some relaxation.

Don B. - That sounds like a great deal.

Roy - Good one.  We all will be in that situation in four days.

Good day,

Joe

Morning all! Well, the Gales of November have arrived here along with a dusting of the white stuff. I really should have put my patio furniture away the other day like the rest of you smart people! I was spoiled by the weather.

I got the green light to resume playing hockey today so we'll see how it goes. X -rays looked good and the doctor said don't hold back. Hmm...... I will make sure to extend my stretching routine prior to playing though for sure.

Joe - It should be a great final week in the Big 10 East! You are correct. PSU has had a heck of a season no matter what the outcome is. MSU didn't do either of our teams a favor missing on that 2 pointer.

I hope my Packers can get back on track against Washington tonight. *sigh*

Hello all

Finishing up another night shift here.

Don - I still have my dad's old Akai reel-to-reel tape deck he bought when he was in Thailand during Vietnam to use to send tapes back to my mother. Mom kept asking me if I wanted it whenever I was home. I hesitated due to it's size and weight (plus I already had plenty of other old electronics:) Then looking at the manual, I saw it still used tubes in the output and the decision was made. I even have a couple of tapes dad made that mom was hoping we could put on cassette tape or CD. I just moved it into the barn so perhaps I should try messing w/ it some day.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 37 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  Had a light dusting of Snohizo over night (season's first).  Started the Harman wood pellet stove for the first time this morning.  Watching all the maintainance and cleaning videos kinda reminds one of how to clean out a steam engine smokebox.

Was hoping to attend church this morning,  but Wifey not showing any signs of stirring.

Will be watching both Nascar and Ravens/Jones's today.

Afternoon. Back from hunting. Girls and more girls. Does. If it had been blondes, redheads and brunettes, different story. Still a good time away.
Friend Fred went earlier in the week.  Hunted at my stand because I told of the big 6 that went by last Saturday.  So yesterday SIL and I fixed him.  Told him a big 8 crossed fast at my stand.  He is on the way tomorrow AM to hunt two days.  Want to guess where he will hunt.  But, he tells everyone not to hunt his stand [he has only one and on my property].  Uses everyone else's if they see nice deer.

Chilly 50 degrees and windy. Being lazy [Wifey too].

Got a few meeting this week. Tomorrow AM, 60 turkeys for needy families for the 4 schools in Rolesville. Got Frankie and clan coming along with our Daughter and her hubby. As Frankie's wife says, all 5 1/2 of us.

Hope all have a great week ahead and safe thankful holiday.

Good evening from cloudy 40°F Southern Ohio.

It has been a busy good week.  This is going to be a short week coming up.

Read back a few pages getting caught back up on the pot.  Life is good prayers being answered and so much to be thankful for,

May God bless,

Evening all!

Cool today. Low 60's today. Back to low 70's tomorrow.

Fife - looks like Flacco got Dakko'd Laugh

Don - that is pretty cool about the tape player.

Watching NASCAR - unfortunate Edwards took himself out. He may have put Johnson, who was a distant 4th, back in it.

Putting in supplies for Thanksgiving. I have a chocolate and pumpkin pie responsibility.

Hello there,

been a busy weekend. Son got the Gravely with the leaf sucker attachment
running Friday.(it needed a new fuel pump) Due to the forcasted rain and
wind for Saturday I spent a couple hours gathering leaves using the headlights
Friday evening. Yesterday I finished digging the the flower bulbs as the cold front
hit. Rain and wind. Temperature dropped over 20 degrees in less than an hour. that brought
most of the remaining leaves down.Probably finish them and clean the gutters
next weekend. Then spent an hour or so getting the lightweight stuff in off the patio.
Spent what was left of the day reclinerizing.
Today was 7AM followed by a quick breakfast at home. Then 4 hours at the office working on
a bid. Picked up KFC for lunch and been Reclinereizing ever since except for a trip to the
barn to feed and plug in the heat tapes.

DJ....... how's Tyler? Sorry about the game

As far as ebay goes I've never had a really bad deal. A couple of items damaged in shipping
due to poor packing but the seller made it right. I've bought parts for HVAC, Motorcycles etc.
Not to mention Christmas Decorations and trains.

Charlie.......congas on the deer.

Chief.......How'd you make out with the Turkeys???????

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

I did 11 miles indoors today in 2:49.29.  Averaged almost 3.9 mph and was going almost as fast at the end as I was at the beginning.  Tomorrow could either be a very good day at work or very bad.   It will be interesting to see how it plays out.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Windy & 27 in the Potomac Valley today.  Youngest Princess and I will begin painting her bedroom this week.  Teasing Teal.  Wifey finally found a supermarket she likes.  Judging by the volume of bags, she liked it a lot...

Jimmy Johnson made it 7.  Class act.

Good Morning,

Had a good day yesterday, went to train show, neighboring home show, watched Nascar Race, and sorting pictures.

The annual Cal-Stewart show is consistently getting worse, this could be my last one.  It is located at the LA Fair grounds, (30 miles away), parking is $10, admission is $15.  There were a total of 4 rows maybe 6 tables per row, and many vacancies.  Lots and lots of old toys, some train memorbilia and a few train sets.  Probably 5 or 6 big layouts on display.  The good news is the aisles were NOT crowded.  Took me about 40 minutes or so to walk the whole thing, (And I walk slow, plus only looked at one side of an aisle at a time.)  Didn't buy a thing.

There was also a free home show in an adjacent building.  (This is like walking through a gauntlet, with all the high pressure sales.)  Majority of vendors were either trying to sell Solar panels, or home remodeling.  Survived that, it was probably 3 times the size of the train show.

Then decided to leave to get home for the race, that worked well.  Kay was spending the day with her parents, so I had the day to myself.  Spent the afternoon watching the race, (Jimmie Johnson, now a 7 time champion, only Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr have done that.) listening to tapes, and sorting pictures.

I figured out how to play pictures on the TV, going to do that on Thanksgiving.  Turned out to be extremely easy, just plugging in a 20tb drive into a USB port on tv.  Regarding the tapes someone recorded the audio from a Star Wars movie.  The first one I think, seems the audio was taped from the playing of VHS movie, I think.  Strange.

Today, DENTIST appt, NOT looking forward to that!!!

Hope everyone has a great day, (I won't), and be safe.

Aloha. A quiet Monday in Chicago. Nobody is working this week, it seems. Roy, there sure are towering mountains of car-rust-dust (ie road salt) around here. We had our first dusting overnight on Sat. It's my fault for getting out the snow-thrower. At least I just about finished winterizing before the polar plunge. It was 19 this am... and 68 just a few days ago. Ah well. I worked all the church services this weekend as video director. Watched just a bit of Notre Dame and the Bears losing. Don, I like your York-Disney solution!

Good Morning All !

Chief, Thumbs UpThumbs Up on wrangling in those turkeys. By any chance did you see the report of that 47 point buck taken in Tn ?

Still working on post-op issues, see the surgeon tomorrow. Hope to see some improvement.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving. Plans have changed a bit for who's cooking. Since it is going to be a much smaller group than normal, 10 people total, I convinced my BetterHalf that we could handle the turkey. She does the labor while I supervise, Smile, Wink & Grin. Our daughter and s-i-l already have enuff to prepare and bring here w/o doing the turkey as well. Plus we are taking a couple of other shortcuts that normally wouldn't be done, Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes and frozen pies.

Did the shopping yesterday. Oh did it ever feel nice to get out of the house for a couple hours, been going stir crazy with not being allowed to do much of anything. Bang Head

Later all, gotta round up my morning meds(a little bit behind schedule).

Good evening all,

Fairly good meeting today.  Most issues resolved in a way that do not cause me much pain.  A couple are still festering, but as long as they are not resolved, those are items that do not bother me.   Weather was nice for a walk outside.  Did nothing tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening from cloudy 40°F Southern Ohio.

Great news Doug. Now get the rest on the mend!

Not going to be able to set up the AF Accessory display at the train show.  Not enough time to get it together.  Maybe put out the All Aboard panels with the 790 Trainorama.

Good night and may God bless

Where did you find a 20TB drive? Geeked I thought I was crazy when I built my NAS with 4 3TB drives! LOL!

My FiL says he doesn't mind dentist visits now... he just takes his teeth out for a gum inspection. Not sure if he is being funny...

Speaking of FiL. He finally agreed to new windows, front door, and replacing his back door with a sliding door. This project morphed into the above along with new siding, soffit, fascia, gutters, and roof. This has all needed to be done since I met TheQ 11 years ago (roof was fine). Any how, the contractor (guy who built our screened porch and sunroom) got the front windows, bathroom window, and slider in last week. Total transformation on the front of the house even without the siding! Much quieter, warmer, and the slider moves with just one finger! Cannot wait to be able to build the new home and move out of here. Smile

I'll be heading to The Burgh tonight, so this will be my last post till next week. God bless you all, prayers for those in need. I'm thankful to call you all friends.

Morning all!

Cloudy with some rain and possible storms on tap today. High 60's and low 70's for next several days.

Dennis - seems like you guys are getting a bit of rain finally?

Don - so York in the spring is a good possibility for you?

88 - be safe and have a great holiday with your family!

Doug M - they had a humorous video the other night on the news where they were speaking to a guy getting out his snowblower, and then it wouldn't run...he had put off checking it out.

DougnottaG - so thankful you are back and sounding upbeat. Prayers for your continued speedy recovery!

Phish - good to see you posting again.

Mike C - good to hear some issues resolved at the office.

Wonder how the Chief came out on Turkeygate?

Regards, Roy

Gray and rain later is today on The North Bluff above Marseilles. Winter is locking in.

Installed the snowplow to the loader on the John Deere yesterday, just in case. Surprise

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday!!

That is a nice engine SJ but far from a Classic Toy Train and what a price tag! Fits better on the other forum where all the new and costy stuff is maybe? I will stick to my 736. Best I can do. I thought he quit posting the videos here because they kicked one of his post off because of some club cars or something like that? I don't go to that forum much because of all the show-offs there so it would be nice if he would start posting the club videos here again.

Kev I don't buy those $$$ engines either. To spend that much money for something they won't repair after 3 years is not for me. You are correct about the previous box car posting. Bob felt it was an ad more than a common train post when in fact we have no connection with them except for a few aquantinances.

Evening all from cloudy 39°F Southern Ohio,

Cloudy and suppose to rain Wednesday.

I’m off work the rest of the week. I am looking forward to that.  I am almost done with another qualification at work.  This one has 112 signatures for performance / knowledge requirements and I have 7 sigs left then another oral board for a summary evaluation by upper management.  Maybe by next week I’ll be done then two more quals to go.

The dishwasher died and my bride put out a do-not-resuscitate edict so we ordered a Bosch.  Hopefully it will come in Wednesday and I can get it hooked up before Thanksgiving.  This is a priority I’ve been given.

Special prayers for the families and friends of the kids who died and were hurt in the school bus wreck.

May God bless

Jim

Good Evening all,

Jim, Those qualifications sound rather stressful and demanding, WHEW!

Roy, That is the current plan, going to try for York in April.  So we will see.  Don't need anything, but would like to see everyone.

Speaking of needing stuff, I think things are getting a bit extreme......Chris bought an inexpensive watch last week, I think he has 3 or 4, this is a self winding one.  A package came today for him, I can't beleive it.

This watch box, WINDS the self winding watch!!  The center location rotates in arc from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock!!  There are various settings for timer control, rate of movement, and more.

Spent the day listening to tapes, working on our website. Got a lot accomplished, tomorrow help with turkey day stuff, and play in the trainroom.

A Geologists idea of Thanksgiving....

Later
