Chief, IF you want good care from the VA, all you have to do is move to Calif., they are great here!

YES, fruits and nuts get everything.

Been planning on a haircut here too, closed today but going to a different barber, cost for seniors $10.  FIL says they are real good, so will see.

Surprised VA isn't paying for that in CA.

ANOTHER Dentist appointment coming up this week, afraid this going to get expensive, starting by pulling a tooth, then doing partials, UGH.  (Can't get dental through VA Crying

HA HA HE HE

Buckeye Riveter

It has been certainly an interesting day in Buckeyeland.  Apparently a suspect is dead after attacking students at OSU with a car and a butcher knife.  Eight or more are in the hospital never the less.

Oh no.  Now they will be trying to outlaw cars and knives.  Surprise

This nice software would not let my curser appear on a quote.  Had to go do a copy and paste.

Later.

Wow Chief, kind of hard on those not from the good old south.
What happened today was anything but a reason to slam policy. I can’t imagine how those student’s parents felt when they heard the news of the attack on campus today. Not funny or reason to judge.JMHO.
Have you figured out a way to get the people of the town to purchase and erect a stature of you in the town square yet?

Good evening all,

News from OSU very unsettling.  I thought this was the time of year for love and joy, not hate and violence.  People at work wonder I focus so much on soccer, maybe it is to forget about everything else.....   Quiet day at work.  Pain two was gone.  Will be busy tomorrow.  CW promoted this week as a 4 episode crossover.  First show was not promising.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I've been fighting what feels like soreness in my left lung.  Might be pluerasy.  Dr. sent me for a chest x ray today.  Now I have to wait for him to call the next shot.  They usually give you antibiotics if that's what it is.  Also went to see Helen today.  Good thing I bought her another pair of shoes because she was wearing them.  They have lost about 5 pair so far.  They do turn up sometimes but it takes a while.  Problem is that she leaves things in wrong rooms and forgets where she left them so they have to search.  All her things are marked though.  Don is doing well with the VA here.  Glad to hear it after all the bad press the VA has had nation wide.  Don, tell me about your diet.  I need to lose a lot too.

Mornin' boys.  Rain and 44 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  Putting tree up today (after much discussion over its placement...).  Bit of excitement last night.  Flash back to wifey purchasing one of those new fangled tea kettles with the plug in hot plate, after pitching the perfectly good tea kettle at old fifedom.  Youngest princess wanted hot choclate...  The acrid smell was gone when I awoke today.

SPMan - Helen and I have a lot in common when it comes to footwear...  I had pluracy for 2 very painfull weeks.

Good Morning from wet 40°F Southern Ohio,

I’m going in late to work to assist at a funeral today of the mom of a good friend of my wife.  I’ve known her since 1974, nice lady.  The priest did not know her well so be preaching the funeral Mass.

Kev & Becky - I’m sorry the link did not work.  I’ll get the bridge information posted someway.

Got to go

May God bless

Jim

Mornin' Fellas

My Dad called last night and asked if I wanted to go to The Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday. I would have loved to go, but already have commitments with TheQ on Friday and Christina (Daisy function) on Saturday.

Fife - That doesn't sound good... probably smelled worse.

I see the opinion police are out in force again...

Morning. Cloudy and windy. Slight chance of showers. 69 degrees [YES].

Got lights to put on pergola [I call Arch De Triumph as so large]. Then some in a snowball tree. Not much happening but pay bills. Seems good to avoid a lot of running up and down the highways and sitting in meetings. Nice break. Might get a chance to get into Train Box and play trains.

KEV, what I was getting to is, if it had been a gun, ban guns groups would have been screaming.

Prayers for rain for Tenn.  NC fires are now getting under control.  A little rain is helping.

Have a good one.

Wet here on The North Bluff. Wish I could send it to TN where they need it more than us. Seems something bad happens every day anymore.
Going to hit 60 today, that is about 20 degrees too high for this time of year but we will take it. Wife and I will go Christmas shopping today for the get out of the house and the ride to Peru. Maybe hit Steak and Shake for lunch.
Chief, I got it. I got the feeling the Ban Gun Groups have been silenced for the next few years. Just poking at you. Wink
V8 Dennis, we have had the LG for over a year with no problems.

Quick check in from work....and you think this software is bad.....oi!!

Was a nice T-day, everyone went home happy and full, between me, my Mom and the Princess, we gang tackled the meal.  Was a good time.

Picked up 2 cabeese at the Edison train show for $20 an '53 and a '74 Pennsy porthole.  Met up with HudsonJohn and AFRay. 5 for $1 old CTTs from the mid '90s as well.

Rain now until Thursday.  Plans to make a small Jesey Tour of the train shops on Saturday of Lionel Train Day......

OK BACK at it!!

Good evening,

The weather has been a bit colder here: highs in the low 30s.  I am happy about it but I know most are not.  I had plenty of meeting and computer issues at work so it was not a greatly productive day.  Tomorrow looks to be about the same.  The wife made eggs, bacon, and salad for dinner.  Now it is time to take the Princess to ballet and the older son to soccer practice.

Phish - I am sorry about your loss.

Brent - Too bad about the game.  I'm hoping it will be close.

Have a great day,

Joe

Evening all!

It was a very pleasant day today. Sunny/partly and low 70's.

Worked on son's 50cc scooter that he no longer uses. Sat since spring. Got a replacement battery (thanks to Autozone exchanging it when it was beyond the warranty a bit) and got it to run with gas splashed onto air filter but the vacuum operated fuel pump would not prime. Troubleshooting on tap for tomorrow.

Chief - yep you need to get into the train box. It has been a very long time since the last update.

Well, I got the chest x ray yesterday but no call from the doctor yet.  I'm hoping no news is good news but I'm feeling a little better.  Cold nights are not good for my condition however.  Have to stay warm.  Stayed home today but did a little shopping  for produce and paid some bills.  Got Helen another pair of shoes for insurance and keep them in the car.  I will see her again tomorrow.

Mornin' boys.  Raining and 46 along the Patterson Creek cutoff (hope some of it is falling on Tennessee).  Got tree decorated in the "great" room, and display set up in the bay window.  No sooner than I finished, Wifey asked when the North Pole layout would be done.  Guess I'll start on that today.

I'm struggling with Fifepup being so far away. Sigh

88 - Yes, but the billowing smoke from the top of the stove was a real attention getter...  BTW, youngest princess got her school pictures back yesterday.  Both her older sisters wished their senior portaits looked as pretty.

Mornin' Fellas

Rainy and gloomy here in MD.

Thinking about changing preschools for Matthew. The current one keeps jacking tuition every few months adding this fee and that fee. Well starting next week, if you pay by CC you'll be hit with a 1.99% transaction fee, and now in January another tuition hike. A few other facilities in the area don't do this... so the pending change.

Lots of work to do for EOY for work. Gets crazy this time of year with everyone wanting to get their requests in before the new year. lol

You have all this free time now that you are retired... you should have had the North Pole layout done by now! Wink

I told TheQ about Fifepup, she asked how you were taking it. Said you really hadn't mentioned it. Give him a call pops!

LOL @ smoke. Can't believe the youngest princess is a senior! We'll have to get together soon... you won't recognize Christina and Matthew. Wink

Good morning, A cool start to a cool day on the North Bluff. Good sun at 35 heading to 40. Can’t believe we still have Robins in the yard this late in the year.
Brent, The daughter just did the same with grand-son. They raised the rate when he turned 3, did not tell them till they were behind $400.00. Needless to say, he will be moving to another pre-school.
Was neat to find out those trains I got from a friend were a 1957 Sears set # 9643 and I have almost all of it but the billboards. I have the set box and the Loco box. Would like to find the rest of the boxes.
Ray, hope the X-rays come back good.

Good evening,

It was a wonderfully brisk 18 degrees this morning as I left the house for work.  That's the weather I enjoy; now I just need some snow.  Today was a busy day at work as the last day of the month is typically when I have many promotion ceremonies to attend.  The first of the month is when people sew on or pin on their new ranks so all the ceremonies take place the day before.  Today was also busy as tomorrow I head to Italy for work.  I will be there a week and the good news is the wife will tag along.  I hope you all have a great day.

Fife/Brent - Our Princess who is also in 10th grade is amazingly photogenic as well.  She gets it from my wife.  I on the other had do not photograph well and ruin many photo ops.

Evening all. I thought I'd sneak one more into the "Pot" at the end of the month. Listening to a rather unseasonal thunderstorm as I type. I'm glad I got my butt in gear and got the lights put up after work! It was a nice 60ish day here. I even used my new scaffolding to put them up! It made it a lot faster.

Joe - I hope you will be able to watch the Big 10 Championship in Italy!

Kev - Nice grab on that Wabash GP-7 set I saw in another post. Looks great!

Have a good evening. December already in a few hours.....

Evening all. Been a go hide in your room afternoon lol. I got a small box this am with the mail, A exploding ammo Dump I needed to complete one of my sets. Then about 3:30 the post Office was back again with 2 large packages didn't even completely going thru them when Fedex pulls up with 2 more large boxes. I get this " are there anymore trains coming today?" In that tone you know it wasn't really a happy one lol. Like a good friend says " it better to ask for forgiveness than plead to buy something" Whistling

Well here comes another month in a few hours. And the last month of the year, Wow!! this year has gone fast.

Evening all,

About 62 and sunny today. 65 tomorrow.

Did some work on the scooter and tested several things. There is a vacuum pull on the pump when cranking. Lines and fuel filter from pump to carb ok. Pulled a slight vacuum on the pump and it is not leaking. So will address lines from tank to pump next. The pump is pretty cheap but I can only get it from the distributor across town which in Dallas is not trivial. The pump is not priming.

Last day of the month. Ready for December!

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Probably last good day to walk outside was today.   Went to see some people about some trains they had.   They wanted an idea as to what would be a fair price.  Between the price guide and what little I know of negotiations, I gave them a number that might be realistic.  Their stuff just misses being somewhat saleable.  They had a nice Marx Girard station...with a bent roof.  They had a fairly nice 1668 prewar set with a slightly rusty 1680 tank car and a loose wheel on the engine.   They had a fairly good early 2000 Penn Flyer.... with a broken jewel reflector on the boiler front.  I hope they get some money for all they have.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
