Fix for wobbly Menards box cars
Posted by Boyd on Friday, January 30, 2015 12:20 AM

I have a beautiful Wisconsin Central box car that I got at Menards in December. No side tab on the coupler and it wobbles a LOT from side to side on the trucks. I turned it upside down & removed 4 Philips screws. The floor of the car is stamped metal. The trucks are held in with a "C" clip on the pivot pin with a very thin washer as a spacer. I went to Menards and bought #10 washers. Thin washers came out & new washers just barely fit below the "C" clip. You need a small flat screwdriver to remove the "C" clip. Don't loose it as it's rather small. You might want to buy #10 washers from more than one source as thickness can vary from one supplier to another.
