Since the Train Box moved in, I have reduced my garden to 1/4 old size.  I have to grow more on smaller space [same for all agriculture as urban sprawl is "eating" up farm land].

Garden

Squash/zucchini left, tomatoes middle and peppers right.

Tomatoes growing out the top of double stacked baskets.

Tomatoes and peppers.

Good evening all,

Good weekend.  Everybody had a nice visit.  Got some more needed rain.  Grass and trees are still green, which is nice.   Jeff Gordon won his 5th Brickyard.  Ran HO train for grand kids.   Not as impressed as they would be with standard gauge.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning.  Sunny and warm [forecast was partly cloudy and chance of showers this AM.  No joke.  Look out the window lady!].

Early to Mayor's job.  Greeting kids at Camp Care [PD run camp on drugs and alcohol prevention].  Big crowd of kids.

Meetings and American Legion blood donation.

Thanks to all of you workers as you make my SS check come on time.

Good evening all,

Was pretty humid here today so stayed on regular air conditioner.  Swamp cooler is ineffective when it is humid.  Works best when it is dry outside.  We got enough moisture in the air this morning to sprinkle a little just enough to mess up the car parked outside.

Went to TCA meet Saturday and spoke with friend who has my MTH engine for possible repair.  He says I might consider finding a junker and get parts out of that.  Would have to be cheap.  Otherwise might as well buy a new engine.  Been watching E bay for engines without tenders and stuff like that.  Even if I found a proto 1 engine don't know if it would work with a proto 2 tender.  I had mine upgraded and all the electronics are in the tender but the motor in the engine has to have a reader next to the shaft to reproduce the choo choo sounds in sync.

Wife went to her regular doctor today and got a good check up.  He also gave her some simple test and she did better than last time on the memory stuff.  We are still getting along OK and maintaining the status quo.

Still have a lot of family business to do and paper work to fill out.

Frank, love your garden.  I guess zuccini squash are popular all over now.  I never saw any in the old days in Virginia.  We had the yellow crooked neck kind and the  simi round looking ones in those days.  Have a tomato sandwich for me when you think of it.  The ones in the stores out here are tasteless.

Don and Kay, hope all is well with you.

Figure on buying something for take out tonight and skip cooking.  We had some Tony Roma precooked ribs last night.  Not bad for what they are and some left over corn on the cob and baked beans.

later,

Ray

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Headphones do wonders in silencing both human and non-human noise.   Picked up sticks in yard.   Found out I passed my ref test.   Ran HO some more.   Making plans for Mid-Ohio this weekend.  Soccer tourney starts Tuesday.   Weather is very nice for this time of year.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all.  Partly cloudy and a lot cooler.  Lower humidity.

Got to great one the Bond companies for our County today at lunch at the High School.  Inspecting the County and how we spend their money.  Three companies.  Another one tomorrow and again Thursday.

Farmers' Market Advisory Board meeting at 4.  Then probably go to the lake house and mow.  Back early tomorrow AM.

Have a good one.

V-8 take zillow appraisal price with a hugh grain of salt. as they about 50% they basically had my house valued at about double of it's actual value.

V8Vega

Stalking, Snooping, and Spying, via Zillow
You can look up anyones house if you know their address, you get a good clear picture, you can zoom in, and move around, see all the house and yard, and neighbors houses.
It tells the current value, how many bedrooms and baths, the house and yard sq. ft. When it last sold and for how much so you know how long they have lived there.
You know what car they drive so the only thing you don't know is their bank and investment amounts.
The big church I go to has affluent neighborhoods all around it. I don't want my rich friends to look up my modest house and low house price neighborhood.
I doubt that any do but as more and more people realize they can people may start to do this.

This isn't very accurate... it does not tell the current value - only their 'estimate' which isn't very accurate. You cannot tell what kind of car someone drives from this site, nor can you zoom in and 'walk around', and their images are NOT recent. We added a screened porch and sunroom to our house 5 years ago and neither can be seen from any of their views.

Not sure I would call this stalking, snooping, and spying. BTW - I use this site to determine my price level for my rental property. It is a very, very, very useful resource.

Hey there,

Just a fly by. Last week has been rough on the North Bluff. Last Tuesday my friend Blaze passed after a long hard fight with cancer. Friday wake and Saturday internment.  Then Sunday night George our cat of 6.5 years went out for the night and has never come back. I believe the hunter became the hunted.
Banks congrats on the Grandchild. Yes
No reason to argue about Zillow as long as Google earth is out there..   Surprise Check out their street views.

Thanks Frank, we all knew it was coming. Yeah tough but he is in a better place. No more suffering and it had been very bad.

Good news on the home front, George is back!!

Saw the video of the flooding at UCLA..........or was I watching that Sharknado movie?  I need to turn off the TV and get out more often.Smile, Wink & Grin

Today's wacky weather produced torrential afternoon rains from seemingly out of nowhere.  This has been one of those summers when there's no need to water the lawn.

Having issues making a lashup with both my Atlas F units using Legacy.  Busted both non-operating couplers in the process...their metal sure is brittle.  Discovered one engine performs as it should while the other has only 2 speeds...full throttle and dead stop.  I'm thinking the TMCC board in the errant engine might be fried.  I'll try reprogramming it first.

Good evening all,

V8 Vega, I understand your pain.  Sometimes when I see how government works......   Busy but quiet day at work.  Some people do get VERY sensitive about what others say.....at work.   Went to get my lab work done for my procedure in August.  First time they drew blood and did not pass out.  That is a good thing.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all.  Went to lake house and mowed last night.  Yes, night.  Got through at 10:30, fixed a bowl for dinner and went to bed.  Up this AM to see it had rained a little while earlier.  Glad I mowed last night.  Got to spray drive [crush and run stone] and leave.  Got home for meetings all day long.  Went to oldest for dinner and just got in.

Tired.  Off to bed in a few.

Seems some missed the good morning posts.

Sleep tight.

Good Morning! I do not know why the laptop posts like this on this forum. 75 going to 83 with thunderstorms on the way. Today is the day my son gets sworn in as a Berkeley Township Police Officer. He starts the Academy on Monday. I am proud of him. Fife: 40 weeks to go. NICE. Enjoy the trip. Doray said thanks for the congas. Don: I wish Kay the best with the Chemo. Mom did well with it and she is doing great now. Glad your leg is doing better. What year El Camino? I had a 1966, 327 w/4 speed. Doug DG: If you see the crew from Big Bang Theory anywhere near Comic - Con, RUN! lol Brent: Enjoy Dutch Wonderland. Happy Birthday to Christina. Banks: Congratulations on the Granddaughter! Chief: Nice Garden! We have a nice crop of weeds this year. We had no time to plant this year. SPMan, Ray: Good News about your wife. I hope you make out well with your engine. If you want when I go to York or if Mike Wolf is in person at a LHS I will ask him in person if there is anything that can be done with your engine. It is worth a shot. Enjoy the Day! John

Afternoon All.

Living in AC again, the humidity is back big time. Even talking about a chance of T'storms, skip the lightening just give us some rain. The hills are just to dry for lightening strikes.

Chief, Great looking garden, sure brings back memories of my youth in Ky.

Ray, You can get some really good fresh veggies & fruit at a farmer's market if they have one in your area. Not quite as good as some homegrown but a lot better than the grocery stuff. Angel for the Mrs.

Hudson, I went nowhere near Comic-Con, it is an absolute zoo down there. I just don't understand adults who will dress-up in character for it. Thank goodness he's joining Berkeley Township NJ and not Berkeley Ca.Whistling

Brent, They grow up far to quickly, even more so when they are Grandkids.

Gotta go, mite be back later.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Most of it not good.   If there is any way for simple to be messed up, we manage to find a way to do it.  One person getting to be irritating again.   If I make it thru tomorrow without it getting under my skin, I will be fine as there will be 3 day weekend waiting for me.   Wife and I went to see "Lucy".   Pretty good flick, but I kept waiting for Ricky Ricardo to show up.  He never did.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Put 1800 miles on the minivan last week.  We took a trip to Michigan and got mom moved to a different nursing home - one with more of an apartment feel to it, better food, and better staff to patient ratio.  About all I have to say is that the wheels of the health care industry are large ponderous things that don't seem to move very well.

It has taken me until tonight to get caught up with work and home stuff, and actually have enough energy in the evening to make a post.

I see in a quick pass through the pot to get caught up that there are condolances and congratulations due.

I've bought enough package deals of train stuff over the last couple of years that I need to find a way to thin my collection a little.  I'm thinking about trying to list on E-bay.

I stopped by the LHS today and picked up the Lionel Christmas catalog.  The new Coke boxcar and the Polar Express trolly look kind of neat.

All for now.
