Good morning all,
Glad to hear Doug Murphy's surgery went well. Hurry home and heal up.
Jon, didn't know you were in LaJolla. Must have missed a post somewhere. It is very nice down there. We went to a wedding a while back in LaJolla and stayed in an old historic hotel in the area with no A/C to my knowledge but we didn't need it. Prayers for a good result on your upcoming surgery.
D.Baker, hope things are doing OK with your latest problem.
Our live in son is going to Florida on Thursday for a car race. Wife and I will eat less labor intensive meals when he is out of town and I can eat all the things he doesn't like.

Mornin' All.
Boy, away for a couple days and it seems like every thing goes to h*** in a handbasket.
Major Prayers going out for all our friends and their families here on the pot.
RT, Welcome to the Retirement Fraternity.
Monday at the museum, open for MLK Day, went pretty well. We had the Kids Club running the layout with six to seven trains at a time. Only a couple of moments of lack of attention but no disasters. TMCC(using mostly the CAB-1L) and DCS were the mode of the day.
Tuesday was visit multiple doctors day with lots of sitting in between finally got home about 2:30 and did like Chuck, NAP TIME. Consensus was "no change", oh well that's better than change for the worse.
Gotta run, need to call and schedule an echocardiogram.
See y'all later !

sir james I Heard from Doug M this morning. He said not much sleep in a hospital, which many of us have been through. He is hoping to go home today so I would consider that a good sign. S.J.

Morning all. Snow on the ground. Roads were a little icy in shaded spots. Took dogs to groomer 15 miles NE. Coming back, sun had dried them up. Temps are Yankee cold. High 27.
Fifey, you can retire to the hills of WV and really have snow. Just not have to get out in it unless you want.
Jon, bake away.
Bob, still doing the Corvairs. Great. OH, spell check highlighted Corvair. Sad.
Buckeye, glad you are home [to suffer the cold and snow ].
Charlie and S J., deep freeze.
Jack should be real warm. So much snow he can't get out so he will be inside all the time.
Listen to the Highway [country music] on satellite radio while driving. They had people calling in with their temps. One guy called in and said -23C. Then one called in and said last week they were -53F. That is kind of cold.
Stay warm, safe and dry.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........
Good Morning, Joe...... Snow is on it's way.
It is a -2 degrees. Going up to 16 with sunshine. Big deal.
Today is an easy day. We are not going out and making soup for supper. The dogs were quick to come back in this morning.
Cheerios on the dining car for breakfast.
Y'all have a great and warm Wednesday.
Chuck
We're home. I had a meeting in Phoenix and we did a train trip to the Grand Canyon. I heard we had some of the boys in the hospital. Wishing them all a speedy recovery.

On another note, it was a sad day on the Banks of the Wabash in Famed Hoosierland, where an apparent murder of a teaching assistant took place. The Riveters of Purdue are Boiler Strong.

Mornin' boys. Frozen here.
Chief - gotta love the folks that while they are stuck inside, decide now is a good time to report something that happened yesterday/a week ago/ a month ago.... I won't miss this job.
anjdevil - Durango kept me warm and safe, to and fro.
v8vega - can see why the media elite have a big problem with Phil. Wifey and I love DD.
to those on the mend. Get better Doug and ShakenBake.
Konbanwa,
Ohayo Chuck – Please send snow, lots of it.
Another brisk morning greeted me today and then it warmed up to the mid-40s. I had another productive day at the office, and also had to stop by the clinic for an immunization update – I needed a fresh MMR shot. The wife made teriyaki chicken for dinner and the kids are having piano practice now. I don’t have anything else planned for the evening.
I’m glad Doug M’s surgery went well.
I’ll pray for Don B’s surgery.
Sayonara, Joe
Hello all
Somewhat less than a quiet night on the hill. We are testing the optical pointing system tonight and there are lots of sounds coming out of the control system. Certainly keeps me awake.
Sheetmetal for the Corvan is ready to go on so we can proceed w/ the engine assembly. A couple pieces I just finished cleaning will need to go to the powdercoaters, but they can be installed later.
DougM - hope everything went well
Thoughts and prayers for Don B.
SPRay - will be neat to see the Big Boy on the move
RIJack - hope your son is doing better
On the train front, I finally dug the Amtrak 8936 Alco A unit out of its slumber and finished lubing it up. I promised this set to a friend for his kids a while back in exchange for a favor. It runs great as it should since I got the set NOS. I replaced the grease on it w/ some of the Labelle PTFE grease that is compatible w/ plastic. Once I get my friend's new address, it should hopefully be on the way to the Windy City! I guess it will be our own version of the Southwestern Chief.

Chief --
Still working on the sun tan in the land of fruits & nuts. We had decided months ago not to hurry back to the Heartlands so we are "decompressing" nicely in La Jolla. As I'm typing this I can hear the roar of the waves hitting the beach, it sounds like a bad winter storm about 60 yards away, kind of weird. We are walking several miles a day right now in prep for me going under the knife next week. Looks like the weather will be clear for us to fly home soon. Would love to stay here another month.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good evening all,
Weather was iffy today so I stayed home. Got to run the 318E for a bit. Did some local errands, but mostly took it easy. The rest of the week will be interesting. I am glad Doug M. is ok. I hoe everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Evening all. Snowing hard. Temps still above freezing but dropping fast. High today was 51. Tomorrow, 27. In fact it was 46 when all the snow started. Grassy areas covered. Black ice tomorrow AM, I'm sure.
John, yes when it like this, retirement is great. Just stay in and watch TV or go to the train box and play.
RT, congrats on the retirement. Now you can be broke like the rest of us.
Glad Doug M. is doing OK.
Sir J. and Charlie, you don't heed new snow. So frozen it will be there till April. MUSH MUSH
I see Jon E has posted. Hope he is home to the frozen mid west. He should be suntanned from his vacation around the canal and back.
Later.
PS: poor Fifey. Night shift and slippy slidey.
Doug Murphy's surgery went well and he's hoping that he can go home tomorrow.

Good Evening! 17 and snowing! Looks like 12+ inches for us.
Took Mom for her Medi Port flush and doctor's visit this morning. All went well. The snow that was supposed to start in the afternoon started about 7 am. On the way home it really broke loose. The hour drive from Mom's, took over 4 hours. Now to just snuggle in by the wood stove.
RI Jack: Prayers for your son.
Laz: We found out that the shop stopped stocking STD Gauge cars and Ray was disappointed because he jad his eye on 2 last time we were there. The 25% was for in stock only. Mike was his normal friendly self. I grabbed a War Bond trolley. Runs nice.
Doug M: Hope the surgery went well.
Don: Prayers. Hope all goes well.
Good News about your wife.
RT: Good Luck with retirement. It will work out.
Fife: Be careful tonight.
SJ / Charlie: Think York and Lemon Ice Cream!
Chief: Looking at this snow and it is Glad that I Am Retired.
Rich: My son is at the firehouse. This old Life Member / Exempt is staying by the fire. I told them to pick me up with the warm Engine if they need me.
Everybody be careful with this weather.
Evenin' fellas and gals: Snowing hard now. Hey Chief; Gotta see that "Lone Survivor" flick ASAP. Fortunately, the only thing I "mow" these days are grass. Kidney stones! Yuck! Once you get 'em you wont forget 'em! 'Nuff said. later.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Sorry chief, no new snow here but it sure is cold.

Talked to Shake and Bake last night. NOT AGAIN. More surgery as a set back. Then recovery again. Not good.
Prayers sent for D. Baker. Wishing you a good recovery this time Don. So sorry this happened but I kow you will get through it. We are with you.
Doug Murphy, prayers for a good outcome on your surgery. All the best to a good guy.
Not much going on here yet this morning but just read that Trains Magazine will have a live coverage of the Big Boy move this week end. I probably will see most of it on there. I'm not up to train chasing any more. I might try to see it when it stops at the Metrolink station in Covina. After that, it's up for grabs. I hope I can see it go over Cajon Pass later this year. That would be more memorable to me.
Since I got my Statler Brothers final concert video (2002) I have been learning about them on the internet since they retired. Harold and Don Reid who are the only real brothers in the group have respective son's who are now carrying on the family business doing shows with just the two of them. I saw them on you tube and they sounded real good. They go by the name of Wilson Fairchild or something like that which is their middle names. At first they used the name Falstaff but that didn't work.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill.........
Good Morning, Joe... I'll send you some snow.
It is snowing. 19 degrees. Snow all day and colder.
Today is an easy day. We are not going out for a few days. Too cold. Have stocked up on food and now we can relax. May do some reading.
