Mornnin' All.
Yesterday was good inspite of some gremlins.
Ray, I don't know of anybody down here that could do the job. The only ones that I would even think about considering for something like this are:
> http://only3rail.com/ This is Chuck Sartor's newshop, he was doing the repairs & service for Mizzell's many years before it closed when the heirs decided to close-up.
I highly reccommend any and all three.
The munchkin spent the nite so gramps was up very early making bacon waffles for breakfast, his fav.
Laz, Most anybody can make plain ol Mac-N-Cheese but it takes some creativity to make it special. One that I make every once in awhile is with browned hot Italian sausage and use a blend of Mozzarella, Asiago, Parmesan and Provelone cheeses. Or maybe some Chorizo and Mexican cheeses. Unfortunately I can't make it to often because of the "sodium" content.
All stay safe and warm in the cold weather, I won't mention how boring our's is.
Prayers for those in need.

Good Afternoon! 32 here, going back down to 10, winds at 20 - 30 mph and an inch or so of snow in the forecast.
Just reloaded the wood cribs on the porch. The wood stove is doing it's job. Doray is making great progress. She is planning our daughter Michele's Baby Shower. Glad to read that Doug M is doing well.
Banks: Glad your wife is doing well. See you at York.
Chief: Glad that Fred is doing well.
Joe D: Relax and enjoy the day!
Jack: Continued prayers for Ron and his family. I am sure his wife appreciates the support that Pam and you give her. Prayers also for your SIL's Mom. I am sure that your daughter and SIL appreciate what you do for them also. You are busy like me!
Rich: Don't let them get to you at work today. Enjoy tonight and tomorrow.
Enjoy the Day!
John
JimmyT......just did some reading. It seems that businesses by and large agree with you, Windows 7 is their XP replacement choice, not 8 or 8.1.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
RockIsland52 By the way, Microsoft will not be supporting (my) Windows XP any longer come April. I have Windows 7. So it looks like I am going to have to make some major decisions. What are you guys using......and why? I don't like to figure this stuff out on my own and am not techy in any sense. I do have a local PC business that I have been using, may run my dilemna by Bill. Jack,
I've been running Windows 7 since I upgraded from that mess known as Vista in 2010. I've seen enough of 8 to not like it. I've had no regrets with 7. It's stable and runs just about everything for me.
I still have XP on an old desktop that I keep around for MTH's DCS. 7 beats XP in every way to me.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Warming Taxachusetts,
Looks like today we will get above 32/freezing today for the first time in a long time, can't remember when. Same for tomorrow. We have had 9 days in which the low has hit single digits thus far in January. This may go down as one of the coldest Januarys on record in these parts. The heating and the electric bills are WAY up with the former being staggering. Monday the temps will dip again back near the single digits. I hope everyone stays toasty.
RT........rumor has it that it is your birthday! I hope you get something with flanged wheels. How old are you? 39? .
Chief......I hope Fred is not feeling too punk after his hernia surgery.
HudsonJohn.......I am glad that Doray continues to make progress and that things are settling down somewhat for you. Your dance card has been pretty loaded and you must be sagging a tad.
Banks.......great news on your wifey, her return to work. I hope that she can recharge her batteries this weekend and doesn't push the envelope too much.
KEV.....prayers continue for Blaze. He really is struggling.
MikeC......I have always been a fan of the Daytona and LeMans 24 hour endurance races.
LAZ......how far up in Maine were you this past Summer? Once you get North and West of Portland, you encounter a vast expanse of unspoiled country I refer to as "where God lost his shoes."
My friend Ron continues to struggle in the hospital. He had a colonoscopy last night that came back "unremarkable" which means they found no cause for his symptoms. Gastroenterologist is in the mix, so hopefully a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan can be laid out. He has been under the weather for a month! The wife and I have been offering to help out the wife with whatever she needs, but so far she has declined even though she is distraught and at her wits end. People don't ask for help when they really need it. In her case, she has said she doesn't want to inconvenience us driving the 40 miles to her place. Hopefully today will bring better news. Pam and I may cook up some food and just take it to her, even if it pisses her off.
When it rains it pours. My son-in-law's 82 year old mother took a fall last night which resulted in a visit to the ER, a CT scan of her noggin, and staples in her head. She was released about 1AM. So the wife and I are backfilling with the grandkids and whatever else needs doing while my daughter and SIL tend to Mom. Getting her to agree to go to the hospital in the first place was like pulling teeth.....she was so adamant about not going.
Our 7 month old Dobe pup Raven will be "coming into season" soon. That is going to keep us busy for the next couple of weeks. Maximus is nuetered, but the instincts don't die if you know what I mean. Segregation of the two is on tap.
Later, gang.
22 degrees and falling to -3 overnight.
Doug M. seems to be doing well and mending.
I gave away all of my OGRs and Model RRs, left them on tables at train show entrance(s) each one marked free on cover so they could not be resold in good condition.
I have all of the CTTs. kept them.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill........
Good Morning, Joe........
It is snowing and 21 degrees. More snow on the way. We will have a lot thru the weekend.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I can relax and read my new issue of CTT mag. Lunch and a nap, for sure.
Dining car has Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Its 17F here in Central NJ...work day...
for those in need.
Fife - on the HEMI Dodge!! I have my eye on a Dakota Magnum V6 with 130k...price is right so I may dive in. Need something to haul the bike and other "items" around. Oh, yeah, it's a LONG bed extended cab, so it's not too cramped and the Harley will fit.
MikeC - Indy car? There are a lot of GREAT DRIVERS PERIOD!!
Joe - Last night was my 2nd experience with Windows 8...its better but it ain't great...yet. We'll see. I'm getting tips from one of the "brains" in the parts dept. All good so far.
Back to the grind
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Morning. Cold but warming more today. Will be windy though. Probably going to the lake house for a few. Back after the noon hour.

Have a good one.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
The weather was a bit warm today; the high reached above 50. I actually slept in until 0745 which was quite nice. I spent the morning drinking coffee and working on a crossword puzzle while chatting with the wife. I had no chores to take care of today so I then spent the afternoon preparing a Sunday school lesson and reading. The wife and I went out for dinner and now we are about to relax together and enjoy some wine.
Rich - I too was not used to Windows 8 at first, but I have grown to truly enjoy it. I have it on my laptop and the Surface tablet. If I decide to buy a mobile phone (smartphone) when we return to the US, I will buy a Windows 8 version.
Hudson John - I hope Doray's PT session went well and that she is recovering nicely.
SP Ray - I haven't been collecting CTT as long as you so I don't have that many, but I am glad I switched to the digital version last year.
Sayonara,
Joe
Hello again y'all,
Just about bed time here but wondering what to do with my old CTT magazines. I have every one from the Premier issue until now but they don't seem to be worth anything. I just want to save or sell the Premier issue and a few others with articles about layouts belonging to people I know/knew. Can't seem to find anything on the CTT website about back issues older than 1999. I need some indexes or something so I won't have to look at every one of those old issues to find the few I want to save.
latest news about the Big Boy move says that the Rail Giants Museum at the L.A. County Fairground in Pomona is inviting anyone who wants to see it when it moves out of the fairground on to live rails. The only catch is that this will occur in the middle of the night between 3 and 4 AM. Sunday morning. They will do it without me. I might drive down to the Covina Station at 7:00AM and see it where it will be for one hour. After that will go back home and watch the whole thing on A live video broadcast that Trains Magazine is doing from 11:00PM Saturday night to 4:00PM Sunday afternoon. If anyone is interested, go to the Trains.com website and look up Big Boy.
Laz, sounds like good eating at your place. I like mac and cheese with anything. Mention of the blue crabs makes me homesick but don't think I'd waste a lobster tail on mac and cheese.
Sleep tight,
Ray

Hello there. Windy and cold here.
It was 12 when I came in from the barn a while ago. Guessers say 26 tomorrow and the the bottom falls out again. Highest temp on the 10 day forecast is 30 next Sunday. I need to get some coal tomorrow.
Mrs returned to work today on a two hour delay. She was warmly greeted by students and staff. Tonight she is tuckered out.

It sounds like Blaze Fred and Jack's friend all need some extra tonight

Good evening all,
First of all, prayers for those who need them. Had a nice conversation with my sister tonight. Work went very well today. All things done and no interference from the outside. Still plenty cold here. More snow coming. Tired of that. Racing this weekend at Daytona with the Rolex 24 Hours. Lots of real (Indycar) racers there. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

I think all is ok. Had a problem with the font settings and color, but looks good now.

Hi guys, I'm back after a hiatus taken to build 7/8 scale trains outdoors (they're still there and I still do that).
I'm planning a tiny 4x8 layout with a loop of code 148 3 rail track (handlaid), maybe a turnout or 2.
The other day, I started wondering if the batteries in my MTH DCS trains might be leaking and I didn't even know how to remove them. I thought about putting them all on eBay, but then decided not to and maybe start another layout, so the bug has bit.
Anyway, I hope to eventually have some progress photos to post.
Glad to see the coffee pot is still here, as are most of the coffee drinkers.
Cheers
Hello, seems to be working now. hmmmmmmm
Hmmmm..that's a good one.
Doug in San Diego, I just wondered if you no anybody in the O Scale club in San Diego who might be able to take a crack at replacing a gear on a MTH 4-8-4 Santa Fe engine? I know some of those two rail scale guys are good at building engines and such. MTH no longer has parts for it so it would have to be made or find one that fits. I know it;s a long shot but the engine is too expensive to just throw it away.
later,

There, Chuck. Fixed!
A good friend of ours has been under the weather for the past four weeks and the Docs could not figure out what was causing it. Last Friday night I chatted with his wife and told her a second opinion was in order, that this thing had gone on long enough. Weak. Flu symptoms. Severe chills. No appetite. An occasional good day.
She was worried their Doctor of many years would take offense at the suggestion. I told her any Doctor worth their salt should want to do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of the husband's malady. But they did nothing.
Unexpectedly, it was off to the ER with him this morning as he took a turn for the worse overnight. The short of it, they are doing a colonoscopy this afternoon.
Please say a prayer for my friend.
Mornin' boys. Clear and -4 here in the Manitoba region. Did spend time with the babies yesterday, running the Carpet Central.
rt - Nice to see you are easing into this retirement thing.
jonadel - A ukulele in every child's hands.

Hi GUYZ,

She did her business and bee lined it home. Had to get a stool sample for Vet visit later today. Today gonna plant some trees and shrubs and hook up electricity to mountain. I try and post pics for Sunday? If done?
On the plane to CA.
