Good evening all,
Much better day. Drive to work and back was much less dramatic. Work was smoother as source of irritation was not a factor today. Played some games of Farkle tonight with the "saucy wench". Looks to be a quiet weekend this weekend, I hope. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Been kind of slow posting anything today. Went for short walk this morning to get the old machinery going again. Haven't been walking lately and need to get back to it. Visit to Dr. the other day showed I had put on 9 lbs. in the last 6 months. Went to Costco today and got a few main dishes to cook like fish, ham and tuna. Took wife to hair dresser this afternoon. I am the chauffeur now. Got the old Buick started yesterday with a jump from AAA and took it for a one hour drive trying to charge it up again. Going to run it more in the future to avoid battery problems. Wife got a call from Dr. office about a bill that Medicare part B had rejected. They have only been covering her with the same doctor for the last twenty years. Sounds like a no brainer to me. They are going to put it through again. Must be some new bean counter involved in the government somewhere. My Medicare is through the Railroad Retirement Board so it is a little different from regular Medicare. Maybe they sent it to the wrong place. Who knows? Got a call from the dentist in Florida about the work I'm financing for my sister. They say all is well so far. Next visit will be for a lot of stuff in one visit. Fillings, impressions for new dentures etc. Left word for her daughter to call me but no call yet. Just want to make sure they know what is going on. Ran trains a little bit earlier today. Packed up a few items and put them away because I have just run out of room on the layout. Dropped a circus wagon on the floor and broke wheels and axles off. Need to re glue the whole thing. Wonder what happened to D. Baker. Need to give him a call. Went to North Woods Inn steak house last night. Good food but not a good value for the money. There were about a dozen people in our group. I was just going to get a steak sandwich open face but the waiter talked me into splitting a regular dinner with my wife. Wound up costing a lot more when you add the charge for splitting an order. They load you up on salad and bread and give you a small piece of meat. Bad deal! Steak sandwich would have been more meat and cheaper. Hope the cold weather is warming up a little in the East. I know you guys are suffering. Talk to you later,
Ray

Charlie, glad you decided to come back. Now keep on visiting. Hope you can thaw out soon.

Hello all
Back in the Ol' Pueblo. Didn't leave the mountain until 9PM last night. Decided to sleep late and then when I was getting ready to go, one of our software guys decided that would be a good time to work on the optical pointing. Alas.
Got my Flyer repair guide just now. Good book. I never knew the white rims around the drivers were insulators. Makes sense though since the pickup is in the tender.
Also got the Marx Voice Control and the 898 when I got home last night. Both are in fairly decent shape. Will post a pic when I get a chance.
Just put a master cylinder in my friends car. She tends to end up paying outrageous prices for repairs it seems. Was fairly easy and not that expensive a part (for a new one no less). The car's been going thru brake fluid for a while and I kind a worry about her driving around w/ the kids. It tends not to see much attention unless I'm around. The little Honda that could.
Need to call FedEx back. I guess the SP 6000's are on the truck:)

traindood Mornin' fellas and gals; Hey John; I was at the train show in Somerset last Saturday. Picked up a bunch of parts and scenery stuff. Bought the foliage from a disabled vet in a motorized wheel chair; you may have seen him; he was in the back near the end of the aisle. Talked over old times. Hey Laz; The best times I ever had at a variety of functions were at ethnic parties. To see the different cultures and traditions and foods was so enjoyable. I look back fondly on those wonderful times. Most people are too high brow for me today. Give me the simple folk anytime. later.

DOOD,
You are right about the different cultures and traditions. In the Coal region where I grew up in the summers it was nothing but church picnics every weekend. You went from one church to the other each weekend to eat great ethnic food and lots o beer. Ya know you had to drink for God.

Brent, Prayers for your bosses brother sounds like he needs them.
lion88roarSomeone expecting some love which they did not receive and got all worked up over nothing, then others posted in response and more drama... blah blah blah... same routine, different month it seems.
I did get upset Brent... at least I didn't ask CTT to delete my account though.
Not sure if anyone heard about the accident near the Mackinaw Bridge earlier this week. A Freighter carrying taconite bound for Gary was following a USCG Cutter when she got stuck in the ice. The freighter was not able to stop in time and hit the rear of the cutter. No injuries but damage to both vessels. The straits area is a wicked place in the winter months.

Morning all. Warmer and sunny. Well above freezing. Hope all the Yanks are thawing out. Off to do more blood work [routine] as this Dr. didn't like the workup the other Dr. did [get more Medicare $$ I guess]. Also postpone apt as she is overloaded.
Off to the "Triangle" for a Mayors' lunch with Secretary Of Transportation. Poor guy will get an ear full.
Brent, prayers for your Boss's Brother. May the Lord give the Dr.s the skills and etc. to heal him and give him the strength to recover.
Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........
It is a cold 26 degrees. Going up to 46 today.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of things to do. Then, a nice lunch and a long nap. Not much else new.
Does anyone know what has happened to Joe in Japan ??
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Mike, think I know what you mean.
Sleep tight all.
First day back at work. Glad I did not have to drive as roads were terrible. Took us almost 2 hours to do a one hour trip and half that time was AFTER we left I-74 for Indy street roads. Trip home much quicker. Got back to work. Lab imports expected, check. Lots of case reports in work drawer, check. "Other" issues not expected. Wish I could talk about them, but chances are somebody would happen to stumble onto comments. All I can say is that people who are outside the area should not change situations without understanding their impact, just saying. I hope everyone has a good day.
Buckeye Riveter anjdevil2 Buckeye - a big thank you to the Jackets as they beat the Rangers!!! and yes those pictures were awesome! The Jackets love beating the Rangers, Boston and Washington. I hope they get a real desire to beat the stuffing out of the Hurricanes in the near future. Below is a great picture looking south across the Mackinac Bridge in northern Michigan. As you can see the blue green towers are beautiful against the winter sky. Notice the broken ice below the bridge where the freighters ply the straits.

I have been to a few growing up in Hazleton, Pa. where you were either a hunk,(Slovak, Polish, Russian, etc.) a Italian,(won't use the slang), or Irish, W(won't use the slang either). Had some great weddings and lots o drinks at them too. CONGAS on 45 yrs. Wish you many more!
Dennis is right [BTW: I need your contact info, thanks]. I post and don't get recognized a lot. Doesn't bother me. My problem is my old mind can't remember all the posts too. Some times I post and then go back and add on edit. I read and realize I forgot someone I wanted to post too.
Jack, you will enjoy my Facebook reply to you. You know I could not resist.
Actually thawed out a lot. Drove the Chevy Silverado this afternoon. First time in days. Cranked right up but new BIG battery. Water continued to drip out of the bed. Usually runs out the back when I start down the street. Well, it had to thaw as the sun and temp hit it all afternoon.
Off to Church meal and then home to walk as not going to get too cold tonight.
Dood, if wifey is happy, everyone is happy.
Banks, prayers.
Stay warm
DOUG & CHUCK, add me to the list. I can't respond to every post but enjoy the comraderie. CHIEF.....indeed, weather such as this thins out the insect population somewhat; but not enough of the greenhead flies, Winter moth, mosquitoes, or lyme-carrying ticks. Lyme disease is on a roll up here, for humans and dogs, no end in sight. DOUG M.....garaged cars start every morning regardless of outdoor temperatures, but folks around here fill their garages up with junk, no room for a car. BANKS.....your family has my prayers; that loss is tough to take.
This morning I went out to take the trash to the curb. I made the mistake this past weekend of leaving a trash bag along side the garage and it is now a semi-permanent part of the landscape until we get a thaw.
Later, gangJack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
cnw1995 Aloha. Not so cold on my first day in the office in 2014. It was -2 at the depot. Hope the car starts tonight. Speaking for myself, I still think everyone is welcome here and on other 'pots'

I agree with you , Doug.
Morning gang. Going above freezing today. 60's by Friday. Wow. Hope all are OK farther north. Warming headed your way. Guess this has killed all those bad insects that have gotten by for a few years [hope so anyway].
Errands today. Have a good one.
Another quiet night collecting photons.
Spent some time working on my Eico 221 VTVM (vacuum tube volt meter). Always fun coming back to something almost a year later and trying to figure out what you had done. Usually I take notes on these things but my notebook is still at home.
Will be looking to find several items when I get home:
1) Marx voice controller
2) Marx 6000 SP diesels and a few cars (yes, the E unit, or maybe it's an F)
3) Marx 898
Time to find a pillow before I have to get up and make the drive.
Quite warm here @8, going up to 19 fells like spring. Painted my mountain cliffs yesterday now for today to start on the mountain itself. Hope to get that done tis afternoon. Gotta go food shopping tis morning.
DOUGDAGRUMP, great score!!!!!. Let me know if you need anything from YORK in the spring, I have time to find it.
Stya frosty my friends,
MichRR714 That's strange Chief. Must be more emails flying around. Last I knew we had parted on good company and I don't recall ever saying anything unkind. You have made it clear though that I am not welcome here...

Go back over your posts on your Pot near the beginning and you will see. Sir J said things too. I use to monitor your site. I see you said you were gone but came back. You are welcome to post here anytime. "Maybe it is time we all mended some fences." That would be nice.
Good night all.
Rich......the news coverage of Lt. Lidke and your posts about working with him reinforce just how many lives he touched and how much he will be missed. Jack.
A little warmer today. Going to work tomorrow, but leaving at 7 AM instead of 6 AM (per the driver). Shut off the lights to the outside decorations and got boxes down so wife can de-decorate. Finished the LEGO house. Will look really good with Halloween train. Picked up the truck after having heater core replaced. Nice and toasty. Going to be busy rest of the week. Permit me a comment concerning Charlie's observation. As far as I know, everybody IS welcomed here. I usually post my own activities and occasionally post a comment about someone's else post from time to time. That does not mean I am not interested in what others say. I tend to think everybody else does the same (except when certain people voice their opinions about a certain All-American sport :-) ). In any event, it is good to see the activity level picking up again and hopefully we will be back up to the 3 or 4 pages a day we have done in the past. I hope everyone has a good day.
