Small Lionel Postwar Display Ideas
Posted by LirrFanMike on Friday, December 27, 2013 12:28 PM

Hello and Happy Holidays to all,

I am looking for some ideas and inspiration for a small 30x40 (or so) 027 or 031 Lionel Dealer type Display. This we didn't have trains running again. My layout had to be dismantled back in early 2012, since we downsized to a townhouse. I was able to get a small loop under my Dads tree to get his postwar trains running. I would of enjoyed running trains with my girls during the holiday, but it just didn't happen. Since space is a premium i am looking for ideas with regards to portability, weight, yet still have a interesting little layout with some interactive accessories for the kids.

I recently sold off all model Modern Legacy equipment to concentrate on both Postwar and MPC from my era. I have found plans for the D-261 which i was looking to modify by adding an additional 10" straight and add "rotating accessories" to change the look up from time to time. I need advise for connecting accessorizes when its set up such as signals, crossing gates, building will be easy.

It will be small, but a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. I donated a loop of Fastrack for my Dad and we got his 736, 646 and 2055 running and it was quite enjoyable to watch. I will upload a few pics soon.

Thanks again and Happy and Safe new Year to all.

Michael
