Hey all. Well I should of left the shelf layout the way it was. now I have areas where the engines jump the track ( haven't seen any cars ( passenger 6 wheel truck type) but the engines sure do first tried my PA's then I said well there finicky so I put some GP-9's they did the same thing but worst lol. (other area's also) so now have about 3 areas over 16' of track and 3/4 of it is above the layout and behind the tree so I need to get on the layout and try and figure it out and get between the tree and the wall also Bang HeadAngry

Well looks like when I go on vacation come Saturday I have some work to do to get this all figured out. one area in there its like the GP-9's short outBang Head so have to look at that better may just have to redo the whole layout up there the indoor/outdoor carpet may be causing some of the problems also. Not sure at this point but do know other than some small gaps about 1/16th of an inch between tracks all was working fine but I figured closer together would be better connectivity electrical anyway. I guess thats why they say if it ain't broke don't fix it lol Doug's law kicking in again.

Well hope all had a good day talk to you all later.

Aloha. Grey and really cold. Adventured to the post-office this am. It was a zoo but I used the machines they have (no one else was) and it didn't take long. Browsed a few stores for kid gifts. Now heading off to a doc for a visit. Supposed to snow in a few hours. Too cold to shovel. Glad your wife is better, Ray.  Mike, I remember when ND soccer was 2 scholarships and a bunch of walk-ons (back in 1981). We were terrible.

Good morning all,

Had a trying day yesterday.  While at church yesterday my wife said she felt like she was going to faint.  My son and I had to help her out of the service to the car and we went home.  She felt better when we got home but we decided to go to the ER just to be safe and get it checked out.  She was there about three hours while they ran some test.  They ruled out a stroke and said that she looked OK.  Want her to see her regualar doctor this week though.  She has an appointment on Wednesday anyway.

Had to cancell out on the visit to a layout in the area yesterday but will reschedule for later.

I heard that the SD40 diesel and caboose that U.P. is donating to our Pomona Fairground Rail Giants museum is enroute now from Texas.  The Big Boy is suppose to leave when that gets here but don't know if they will wait until after Christmas to make the switch or not.

Dental hygentist appointment tomorrow.

later,

Ray

Morning all.  Sunny and warmer.  Warming more each day.  Out for a walk.  First one since Friday.  Got to get back into the routine.  Weather holding will help.

May do County Commissioners but do have Mayors' Assoc. Christmas party tonight.  My last thing as President.  We change each year and pass it around among the Mayors.

More snohio for the Yanks I see in the forecast. Yes

Hope all have a great week.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

It was an extremely wind day today.  That made this morning’s 7-mile run much more challenging, but I still enjoyed it.  The high was in low-50s, but it was in the mid-40s by the time we had flag football practice this evening.  The wind was kicking again and none of the kids wore gloves so their hands were freezing by the time we were finished.  The wife made some tasty beef stew for dinner.

Good night.  Great Christmas parade today.  A little breezy but was in the 50's with sun.  Eat your hearts out Yanks.  Then took the Wifey shopping.  She rewarded me with a big plate of her home made spaghetti.  This was followed by the Hallmark Channel's new Christmas movie.

Aloha. Sorry about your friend's passing, Buckeye. It's only 12 here and dropping fast. Not fun to move snow around the driveway in it. I remember looking at a seiche on Lake Michigan when I first moved to Chicago. The Weather Service predicted it. It looked like the lake was just rising, rising, rising out of nowhere. Not like a wave at all. It lapped the breakwater and then went down.

Hope that pit bull gets punished!

Laz, that was quite a game - or at least a 2nd half.

WInd chill was 16 when I climbed the ladder today to hang the Christmas lights over the front porch, placed the golden lighted reindeer and strung more lights throughout the bushes and trees.

Inside the tracks and trains are under the balcony tree and everything works.  Yeah  I need to continue cleaning the layout tracks and pick out the trains to run for the big party.

Everyone have a good week!

V8Vega

SpRay the post above me was 12 hours ago come on guys although there are some on Elliott'd Diner that post 4 times a page..

Dennis, since we are at the tail end of the time zones across the country, sometimes our post don't get read by the guys in the East until the next day.

Went to TCA Christmas party yesterday.  Lots of food and trains running.  They had a lot of food left over.  Hope they found a home for it.  Would be a shame to let it go to waste.  They had a drawing for door prizes and also a raffle for which chances were sold.  The grand prize on the raffle was a modern era Lionel NYC Hudson full scale with Rail Chief cars.  I did not win anything........again!  I did get a free hat given to me by my friend RAK who operates the carpet central layout at Cal Stewart.  I didn't deserve it since I did not participate but he remembers my help from the past.  He is a real gentleman.

I'm still mulling over what to do with regard to my sister in Florida's dental problems.  We have a quote from a dentist in the area and I have been waiting for some paper work from her daughter before I commit myself on the bill.  Somebody is dragging their feet on this but this time of year is the wrong time to do all this stuff.

V8 Dennis, glad you reported that Pit bull.  Hope they pick him up.

Going to see a train layout in the neighborhood this afternoon.

Time for church now.

Morning all.  Sun is out so we will have the Chamber's Christmas Parade this afternoon.  Think it is suppose to be sunny and in the 50 rest of the week.  Did get some work down in the Train Box.  Also cleaned the tracks.

Was at the Christmas party last night.  Lady I had not met before sat next to me at a table.  Told me she was from Maryland.  "Oh a Yankee".  Immediately she informed me she was a REB and her family fought for the Confederacy.  Later found out she was wife of a buddy that does reenactments.  The she told me she was Captain of a mortar group.  Goes to say, one decent person from Maryland. Wink

All yuz giz with kids.  They should be getting really excited.  Ho Ho Ho

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 38 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Only got a glancing blow of Snohizo yesterday.  Went to the Arbutus VFD for their Christmas meet.  Picked up an extraordinary scratch built water tower for $60, and another Railking 19th century B&O boxcar for the future layout.  They have a spectacular train layout for anyone interested.

Attending a big birthday bash today.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
Today has been a splendid Sunday.  We had Sunday school and church in the morning and a wonderfully relaxing afternoon.  While the older two kids were playing and the wife and youngest were napping, I was able to enjoy A Christmas Story.  I’m roasting a chicken and vegetables for dinner while the family watches the recently aired live version of The Sound of Music.
Chuck – Japan could have had one as it experiences earthquakes almost daily.  Usually I only read about the big ones or the ones near Tokyo.  I rarely feel any of them but my wife usually does.  She also has an iPhone app that tells her when one is happening.
Laz – Thanks for the motivational words.  I hope you get that deer soon.

Joe

Good evening all,

Strange day.  Went to a craft show and there was hardly anything there.   Went to a local train display and talked to one of the people there.  They said they were short on trains.  By the time I got back with one, they said it was no longer needed so I took them back home. Did get house swept and build some on my LEGO.  Did some follow up work on some orders for wife's Christmas stuff.  May have some luck there.  Re-read the Bill Maudlin book.  Buckeye, my condolences on the loss of your friend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Laz, sounds like it is time to declare a season on does.  Place is being overun with them.

Good morning all,  off to TCA Christmas party.  Ate some chocolate mint ice cream last night and had violent reaction this morning.  Acted like a laxative.  Better stay away from that.

Plumber came last night after dark after we waited all day but glad he did.  Turns out that the seal on the john was broken.  Had to unbolt it from the floor, put in new gasket and reseal.  Glad that's over.  The job was worth every penny.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

The kids enjoyed The Sound of Music last night; so much so they watched it again this afternoon.  The older boy and I woke up this morning at 0500 since our flag football game was at another base in Japan.  The bus ride to our flag football game was only about 90 minutes each way.  We played poorly and were pummeled.  Somehow, the kids were still in good spirits.  We were home in time to see the princess’s volleyball game.  Unfortunately, her team lost as well.  The wife and I went out for dinner and did some Christmas shopping for the kids.  It’s time to relax for the rest of the night so this post will be short.

Buckeye – Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

I hope you all have a great Saturday.

Good night all.  No deer today but lots in packages frozen. Dinner

Dennis and Brent, those dogs would be declared dangerous in Wake Co. [and NC].  That means shut up in a spayed/neutered, penned in certain size pen with top and if take out, muzzled.  Remember, I am on the hearing committee for dangerous dogs.

Good evening all,

Interesting week.  No soccer on Wednesday (wimps LOL).  Probably for the best.  Made up for it sort of on Thursday as antenna managed to pull in Telemundo station and I was able to watch Mexican League "futbol" game.   Whenever there was a score, the announcer did a very long version of "Goaaaaallllll".  Way cool.  Friday took the "saucy wench" to eye specialist for some tests related to her diabetes.  She will have some laser work done next Friday.  Long morning at doctor's but nice lunch at Panera's and a trip to Garfield Park for a train and garden display and some shopping therapy at Barnes and Noble helped.   Scored a copy of Bill Maudlin's Up Front, which I had been looking for for a long time.   I hope everyone has a good day.

TGIF

It has been a long week.  A friend was buried in the hills of West Virginia on Tuesday. Steve was 64.  I met him on July 1, 1985 when I arrived in Cbus.  He is the 7th friend I have lost in the last 13 years. I still miss Larry, Doc, Tom, Bill, Bob and Lloyd.

We had a house fire in the neighborhood.  The husband was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.  Fire apparently started in the garage.  In fact it looks like it started in the engine compartment of their Toyota FJ Cruiser.  The front end of the Toyota is melted. QuestionQuestionQuestionQuestionQuestion

We are breaking records for snow in Ohio.  Central and SW Ohio are covered, but the normal snow belt near Cleveland is running low.  It completely depends on how the wind blows across the lakes.  In Central Ohio our lake effect snows are mainly from Lake Michigan.

Some of you may find this facebook page from the Army Corps interesting concerning the Seiche wave::  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Detroit-District-US-Army-Corps-of-Engineers/144354390916?hc_location=timeline

BTW,  the lock in this photo is five feet wider than the freighter.  5/2 = 2.5' of clearance each side and you have trouble parking your car.  Captain

Keep warm this weekend and Chuck point the cannon towards Roseyville and include some ice.Laugh

V8 Dennis, sorry to hear about your dog.  Sorry but I hate Pit Bulls.  If it were up to me I would have them all killed.  At the least, report it for sure.

Went to another Christmas party last night.  Lots of food and conversation.  Got another one at train club tomorrow.  Pot luck!

Got my Christmas tree decorated yesterday and the Fast Track put down for the train.  Had a little trouble with dirty track joints at first even thought I cleaned the track good prior to putting down.  Works good now.  I am running my Lionel General set and an MTH trolley now and then.
