Konbanwa,

We finished decorating last night around 10 PM last night, but that included setting up the train and Christmas village under the tree so I was quite happy.  I’m running Lionel’s Nutcracker Route set but I’m using a loop of RMT’s Super Snap track I picked up a few months ago.  The trains run much quieter on it than the FasTrack I used to use.  I’m waiting for some more RMT track to arrive so I can expand the loop a little and also replace the FasTrack that is on the UTB RR.  Today was a typical Monday; however, I did not go for a run this morning as I was pretty exhausted from the party on Saturday and the decorating yesterday.  We had flag football practice tonight and it went well.  I grilled (yes, I grill during winter) hamburgers for dinner tonight.  I topped mine with bacon and sautéed mushrooms and onions.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good night all.  Reclinerized.

8N, is that Katy TX?  If so, nice museum.  Been there.  Worked the Bass Pro Shop up the street.

Sleep tight.

Nice warm weekend here.  Sunny and in the low 50's.  This won't last much longer.  Gald I got the maple leaves turned under in the veggie patch and tomato patch today.

Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving.  Ours was quiet, with just my wife and I.  About midnight, we heard a "whump" sound, then a roar like a 747 on takeoff, which went on for several minutes.  We finally got curious and stepped outside to see a flickering orange glow in the sky off in the north.  There was nothing on the local newspaper or radio web sites, and the Kansas City TV stations did not have any special reports, so we got in the car and drove to the north of town to see what was up.  Got a glimpse of a tower of flame what looked to be a couple of miles north of town, so we guessed there had been a gas line explosion and went home.  News report the next morning was that a 30" gas pipeline had "a release" about 15 miles away from our house, some 10 miles north of town.  30' by 80' crater 7 feet deep and flames going 300' into the air at times.  Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

It is interesting to note that the gas pipeline company described the event as "a release", the emergency responders called it "a pipeline burst", and the folks living several hundres yards away called it "an explosion".  Guess that the details vary with your view point.

My wife and I put the Christmas tree up and decorated one of the rooms at the KATY museum over the weekend.

I am having trouble logging on to the forum on one of our computers.  We recently 'upgraded' it to Explorer 11.  Have not been able to log on since we did that.  Probably some sort of security setting somewhere.  I'll have to dig around and see what I can find.  If anybody else has bumped into this and fixed it, I would gladly accept some guideance.

Been sluffing off on my SS contributions for you retired types last week.  Have to go back to work and get that fiexd tomorrow.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Got the tree decorated today.  Went to see "Delivery Man".  Very good movie.  Also got out old bottle brush tree that was my grandmother's and set it up in attic.  Had been stored 10+ years, but still looks pretty good.  Will hang a few lights on it and set up a timer to go with outside lights.  Figure I might as well use it.  Will be a busy day at work tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning,

Going to put up outside decorations today, then help with getting the house started.  Beautiful day here today, sun shinning, warm, no wind, just very pleasant.  (Sure beats sitting in a cold and wet deer stand.)

Falls off roof and breaks right leg and arm. Hmm

Wifey did 90% of ours while I was deer hunting. Cool  That's her thing.  In fact, she decorates outside and inside for all seasons and holidays.

Great meal today with kids.  Baked honey roast spiral cut ham, squash casserole, broccoli casserole, baked sweet potatoes, chutney, chocolate pie and cherry pie. Dinner Big Smile

Well done North Carolina!  I've got a better idea.  Why not pass a law mandating a maximum fine of $1 and five minutes of community service for assault and battery on a funeral protestor?

As my Irish grandfather used to say, "There are times when assault and battery is fully justified!"

NC just enacted a law preventing demonstrators at and along funeral lines for fallen soldiers.  Thumbs Up

Chief, too bad North Carolina had to go to the trouble of passing a law which is just common sense to decent people.  Guess those types just don't fall into that category.  Anyway, glad to see somebody took a stand on it.Bow

All quiet here on the Western front today.  Just going to church in a little while.  Nice weather predicted for the day.  May take a walk later and then run some trains.

Finished off the last of the turkey leftovers last night.  Next door neighbor got Christmas lights up yesterday.  Makes us all look bad.

later,

Ray

RT...The Chief has been derelict in his duties several times this year.  I believe at a minimum a hearing should be held as to his suitability in making a pot of coffee.  You have done outstanding work and seem to be able to read a calendar better than the Chief.  Captain Good job!!

It is December, and the trains will be running under trees all over the country this month. Thumbs Up

I'll pass it on to YOU!!!!  Stick out tongue

Frank -- that's awesome news, good work NC lawmakers !  I'll never understand the mind set of the Westboro cult, they are the lowest of the low.

Good Morning,

Happy December All!!

Looking forward to the month, always joyous.  But this year so grateful to be around, and have all my limbs!  (Hope Mrs Banks wrist isn't as bad as it appears, maybe just a sprain.)

Going to put up outside decorations today, then help with getting the house started.  Beautiful day here today, sun shinning, warm, no wind, just very pleasant.  (Sure beats sitting in a cold and wet deer stand.)

Yesterday, I thought I would check out a couple of kits I had bought for the layout.  (A&W Root Beer Stand, and White Castle stand.)  Well, these kits contain pieces that you have to cut from raw stock.  Even too some small strips about 14" long, that you need to cut "as required" which are used for structural integrity.  And of course the instructions aren't all that great.  Now I understand why the kit sells for $49 and the assembled unit is $250.  So that is going to take some time and patience!  Will definitely  take my modelling skills up a notch, or they will never get to the layout.

IMO SHOULD BE A FEDERAL LAW !

Hope everyone has a great day, and stay healthy!

Don
