Good Mornin' Agin' From Crystal Clear But Low 40s Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

We have Blueberry Hill weather here, and it is glorious.

The wifey and I have too much on the schedule.  I was unable to get over to the Beverly airport to see the Collings Foundation WW II vintage aircraft that flew in here for the weekend.  While I have attended many times in the past with family, I ran out of time.  I keep thinking of the B17 that crashed and burned about 40 miles South of DougM, last year was it?  There are only a few of these warhorses left that fly.  The new puppy Raven is chewing up way too much time and attention.......worse than having a child.  At least with a newborn you can put a diaper on them and they don't chew up everything they can get their teeth on. Bang Head

RaySP......this neck thing with your wife has been hanging on for quite a while.  I pray that it either clears up by itself or the Docs come up with something. Angel

Boston sports fans have a lot to cheer about.  Both the Red Sox and the Patriots are on fire.  In baseball, Chuck's Indians are still in it and SJ's Tigers will win their Division.  Fife's Orioles have collapsed at a most inopportune time, but they did very well this season.Thumbs Up

I am off to do some yard work, put away some of the deck furniture for the Winter, and then make space for the air conditioning units in the basement.  I don't want to hear the wifey harping me asking why we have to wait until the snow flies before we do this type of stuff.  Laugh

Jack

The Tigers lost yesterday as the tribe was winning. The magic number for a first place lock is down to 2.

But a bright spot yesterday was a win by the Lions. I watched the win but still got my short nap in.

Aloha. Nice quiet weekend. Hopefully nice sunny cool Fall-ish Monday.

Jack, mmmmmmm SuperDawg!  The Collins Foundations B-17 and P-51 were here a month ago. That B-17 crash a few years ago was unfortunate. But no one was badly hurt.  http://www.flightjournal.com/blog/2011/06/14/ww-ii-b-17-crash-lands-in-oswego-illinois/

Morning all.  Sunny, breezy and cool.  Had to take Wiley to the Vet for a booster.  Like children.  Off to walk early today.  Got a "scope" job tomorrow and the prep starts at 5 PM.  Don't want any "accidents" on the sidewalk.  Embarrassed

Shake and Bake is loosing parts one at time. Surprise  All on the left side.

Buckeye, prayers and good luck.

Later.

Don, sounds like Knotts is falling apart without you.

Chief, good luck on the roto rooter job.

Buckeye, prayers for a good outcome on your procedure.

A little warmer here today but intense heat is over I think.

Went to church alone yesterday as wife was complaining of neck pain.  It was better in the afternoon.

Train meet at TCA this weekend which is advertised as having an auction this month.  Suppose to bring a quality item to sell.  It would have to be something I really don't care about because those things never bring much cash unless it is very rare piece.

later,

Doctor was late so I got some extra snooze time in the prep room before the lipotripsy this morning.  So far so good.

BUCKEYE.....I hope this procedure works and that your doctors get this sorted out.  Lord knows they have had enough time and opportunities. With your travel schedule, you must get paranoid about the next bout.  Good luck.   Sigh

A nice sunny, high 70's day today.  Too bad I was doing my part inside a building to keep the SS fund solvent.

Anjdevil - thanks for the explanation about the fire department equipment naming conventions.  Thinking about it a bit, the great grandfather of the modern pumper was a horse drawn steam powered pump - makes perfect sense to me now.

Good evening all,

Got my reffing schedule for the youth tournaments.  Depending on when the high school girls play their first round game, conceivably I could be involved in a soccer event every day from October 1st thru October 10th except for Friday the 4th.  Wow!  Soccer paradise.  Work went very well today.

Good Evening!

2

Hope everything WORKS OUT ok for Buckeye and the Chief!  (If the Chief offers up a new DVD to watch, you may want to stand clear, it could be more personal than you expect.)

Went to the VA eye Dr today, got skin issues either removed or biopsied.  Results and stitches out next Monday.

Realized today I have finally struck bottom on my health/recovery issues.  EVERYTHING IS IMPROVEMENT FROM HERE FORWARD.  Two factors convinced me of this.....

First, no more NEW Dr appts scheduled!  Only follow-ups to previous ones, for progress checks Yes.  Second, got home from VA this am, and had urgent call due to excess coffee.  Then realized I had a new challenge in maintaining the cleanliness of the impacted area.  Specifically, the concern was protecting the floor while standing on one leg, using the wrong hand, and only one eye!  Result was SUCCESS!  NO SPILLAGE RIGHT ON TARGET!!

(Chief, Good luck with thoose "chalk" shakes, especially while walking your 2 miles!)

No chalk shakes.  Some clear grape tasting dishwashing detergent.  Off early tomorrow AM.

Seen a photo of the Shake and Bake's "eye" surgery.  Should not have deleted from phone and posted it.  The black eye tomorrow AM will be even better.

Sleep tight.

Shaved, showered and dressed by 6 AM.  Then another round of drinking.  Must be Dawn as it cleans real good. Embarrassed  Arrival time is 10:30 and procedure time is 12 noon.  This is ridiculous times.  No solid foods since yesterday at 7 AM.  Guess my walks and this will really drop the weight.  Wifey and I plan to make up for it.  Olive Garden right after. Dinner  Can't do that when on the diet.  Figure this has made it OK for once.

Have a good one.

Aloha. Cool and sunny in the city. DJ's post reminds me I gotta remember to get my flu shot too. Nice TARDIS ride last night with SJ and Brutus. Watched a few vintage Star Trek shows online. Looks like it will be a productive day. With the cool weather, I'll think more of the layout - about how to best go about making a 'Goose'-like rail truck for Ivor (called Juggernaut in the show).

Good luck today, Buckeye

Hey Chief......does your medical insurance cover the HAZMAT crew that has to come in to the health care facility to clean up after your procedure is over?  Or is that considered an out-of-pocket expense that you get to declare on your income tax return?  Laugh

I'll bet Chuck and LAZ are having some behind-the-scenes strategy sessions on how they will approach SJ on the MLB playoffs bets.  But I suspect SJ is just to clever for their scheming.

Don.........I never read POT posts to my wife.  I figure she does not know the cast of characters or their history and simply would not "get it."

However, your post was different.  I explained to her your "unretirement" responsibilities as a train engineer at Knotts, your snafu, and then let her read the above post of yours.

It cracked her up totally, picturing your dilemma. Thumbs Up  Laugh

Don, What day is it indeed!  I love that commercial with the camel.  Funny story about your bathroom problems.  Not funny for you though, I'm sure.

Chief, by now your procedure is probably over and you are in dreamland.  Hope you are awake in time for the Olive Garden tonight.  When I get that procedure, I usually sleep all afternoon but knowing you, you will probably be out walking dogs, hunting, feeding deer, digging up garden or mowing grass.  Enjoy your day after the unpleasant part is over.

I thought we had almost got through the hot weather without a brush fire near us but our luck ran out yesterday afternoon.  A fire started in Azusa Canyon which is only about 5 miles West of me. It was almost dark by the time they were making water drops.  I don't know lf they did anymore overnight or not but they were at it again after daylight. Water dropping helicopters have been flying over my house between Azusa and Puddingstone Lake to the Southeast of us a few miles to get water.  The prevailing wind has been blowing smoke and ash over our way and I can't walk today because of poor air quaility since I have COPD breathing problems.  We have some ash on our cars and in the pool but not too bad so far.  I think they have a handle on the fire by now.  I hope so.

Olive Garden by 1:15.  Cleaned out all the pasta and then left.  Figured I earned it as not eaten since yesterday at 7:30 AM.

Doing fine.  Will probably do 2 miles late today.

OH!  All OK with "test".  Tough to get old.

Chief, I knew that procedure wouldn't slow you down.

Brush fire in Azusa seems to be under control all though I have no confirmation yet.  At least the skies are clear of smoke which was my main concern at the moment.

Blown out, Happy B-DayCakeBeer

Ran trains a little this morning.  Ran a 5 engine consist of ACL power.  I had three F units, one GP7 and an SW1 switch engine.  The lead F unit has had all the electronics stripped out and all it has is a reverse unit so I ran the switcher in the consist to get a working horn.  Works pretty good.

Son who lives with us came home from trip last night from Austin Texas where he saw a car race.  Have to figure out what we are going to do about dinner tonight.  If it were just me and grandma, I would probably just have soup and sandwich.  I'm gaining weight again anyway.  Got to do more walking and less eating.

Evenin' All !

Still around just not enuff fuel in the tank anymore to keep up with everything. The "Betterhalf" and I have both been fighting the crud for the past week or so, mine seems to finally be backing off but not for her.

Chief, Good to hear that everything came out good. Mine is scheduled for January.

Now, hopefully Buckeye's results will be good as well.

Don, Laugh. Enjoyed the chat the other week.

Got the halloween module installed on the club layout, Monday we will be putting up the other halloween decorations.

Jack, Thumbs Up on the new pup.
