RT........thank you for the kind "offer," but after the Summer I have had--- with the carpenter, exterior house painting, deck refinishing, and road trips to Canada, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, and with the expense of a new puppy---I am tapped out.
I applied for a loan for your 736 set at the First National Bank of Roseyville. But one of the bank officers they called Fast Frankie turned me down because he took issue with the fact that I was a Yankee and was buying from a person he referred to as a carpetbagger from the "Nawth."
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Home again. Busy with deer stands and Forester. Thinning crew started today on Cousins' tract. Do two of my tracts next week. Tired. Off tomorrow. Frankie's B'day tomorrow. Maybe we will dine.
Jack, congrats on the new "baby". Cigars?
Tired.
Sleep tight.

Good evening all,

RockIsland52 rtraincollector Morning all not a lot going on today. I remember replacing a liquid smoke unit back about 3 years ago and seem it was a little of a problem as couldn't get the one lead to stay soldered to where it needed to. so was expecting the same difficulty in do in doing a pill version so put it off till last night man was that a breeze think I had it done in about 15 minutes the worst part was cleaning the chamber out man was it built up. Put it back together and man it smokes great now. ( wanted to do this one as a pill as wanted to keep it original) RT........are you using flux when you solder? Jack

Jack Flux whats that lol yes I use flux it was a stiff wire and it wasn't wht you normally would concider a wire it was more of a very small diamiter metal rod ( like maybe 1/32 ) and it barely reached where it had to go. But that was like 3 years ago this one was a regular wire thou more like 24 ga but was a breeze to do. by the way you want a 736 I have the whole set for sale lol

Jack, The Sox's continuing run must be because of ex-Other Sox Jake Peavy! Welcome Raven!Buckeye, great video!
DougM.......you bet!!!! Peavy was a great pick up. Now if he can just remain healthy our starting rotation in the playoffs will be formidable with Lackey astounding the locals coming off of Tommy John surgery and with Bucholz looking sharp after a couple of months injured.. And thank you for the Raven comment. I am a tad sleep deprived working on the housebreaking with the little one. We have her on a precise schedule to avoid "in-the-house" snafus.
Buckeye......I agree with Doug. Great video! Thank you for posting it.
DonB......it sounds like your recovery is moving along quite well. I now think of you every time I go up and down the stairs so I won't do something similar to myself. Ladders too.
Pat......your email address is not working for me. Do you have me blocked?
Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Cape Ann.
Another low 40s overnight with 70 on tap for today. No rain in the forecast for a few days.
I am continuing my assault on the lawn renewal this morning with lime and a weed/feed. The spots of crabgrass are dying off as this lawn pest does in the Fall. With a good dose of the pre-emergent Halts (Scotts) in the Spring, that problem will be history. Even the bald spots are filling in nicely without seeding; and I will need to slice seed in the Spring only one 150 sq. ft. shaded area come next April/May. I get coupons from my local hardware store for the fertilizers they want to get rid of, including the stuff I will need next season, so I will be off to buy some later......like the Boy Scout motto says, be prepared. The only hassle will be keeping the puppy Raven and Maximus off the treated areas for one to two days.
Re the shooter down in DC......I simply do not understand why an obvious nutcase with a poor track record before his discharge from the Navy and the RI police warnings from a month ago went unheeded. So did his previous police entanglements with his discharge of firearms (shot up a house and a vehicle).
Do those in charge of checking this stuff out think that this type of person can remain in the investigation que until they get around to suspending or terminatng his clearances and access to the base? There is NO EXCUSE for this type of negligene, budget cuts and short staffing notwithstanding. HELLO!!!! Priorities and oversight are once again lacking in the use or misuse of our tax dollars......yet again. And the innocent pay a horrific, mortal price.
Later, gang.

Aloha from a grey and warmish Chicago. I enjoyed a good ride on the TARDIS last night. Spent much time on the computer after work 'fixing' things that needed to be done. Looking forward to iOs 7 today. I'm working up plans to replace the poorly made cupola atop Ivor's shed. I made the original out of cardstock and it's coming apart. Ideas welcome.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill...........
It is a sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have chores and a few phone calls to make. Then, I can have lunch and take a nap.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Wednesday

Not much else going on. Going thru my stock of trains and decideing what I really want to keep. man I got carried away lol. Well know the atlas are going nowhere as love those engines. I have 2 one is a Erie built FM and the other is a sd-40 I think lol Both are PRR in Brunswick Green.
Talk to you all later.
Late post. Girls lost 8-0. My team lost 4-2. I played well. Busy day at work.
dbaker48 ChiefEagles BTW: Did NOT fall out of, on, under and on top of the steam engine. Rode lots of kiddies and parents. From 11:15 until 7:15 except for 15 minutes judging twice. Finally stopped about 4 PM and told them the steam engine was out of water. Went and got me a bottle of water and gurgled it down. Back on the train and away we went. Chief, Yelling at the Engineer isn't going to make the train go slower, Just hold on! Off to the eye Dr this morning, (no risk of another cast, LOL ) Prayers for all those in Colorado!!! Doug I too was watching both races, but lost control of the TV before NASCAR came back. 9

You need to go to the eye Dr. You are blind if you do not recognize the Chief as the Engineer. Especially since he just spent a week with you in LA County.
Home again. Off to the farms tomorrow AM.
Later
Good Evening!!
Buckeye, Your right, only I would say 2nd only to Colorado. I enjoy the scenery on the videos I've been watching as much as the trains!
I really like this picture! Got it a year or so ago.
Ray, To answer your question, I am certain that was Buckeye driving the train. I believe it was during one of his previous "raids".
Talked with Doug (San Diego) earlier today, had a real nice talk.
Got through the Dr visit regarding the growth next to my eye. Turns out that one is OK, but there are 3 other spots on the opposite side that needs to have a biospy ASAP. So that is scheduled for next Monday.
So till later....

Guess it's almost bedtime for you Easterners. Our weather has finally begun a cooling trend. It's still in the 90's but heading down.
Almost did not get around to reading the coffee pot today.
Buckeye, thanks for the train videos. Nice scenery on the New River Train.
Two of my train buddies, Larry and Bob both had birthdays yesterday that I was totaly unaware of until Bob told me this morning so I gave them both a belated happy birthday greeting. We are all about the same age in our mid 70's.
Ran trains this morning and played more Christmas music from tapes I made off the radio last Christmas season. Kind of gets you in the holiday mood early. Also goes well with trains. Gave my little WBB 4-6-0 ten wheeler a workout today pulling the woodside early passenger cars from MTH. Spent most of my time just clearing paths for trains to run since all my tracks are full. Have to be a juggler. Had to reposition about 5 trains to get to the one I wanted to run.
Got my reservation for my drivers license renewal and written test on Oct. 2nd. Tomorrow have eye doctor appointment. Might be timely if I need new glasses before I have to read an eye chart with the DMV.
Buckeye, if Chief was in that rabbit suit, then who was running the engine. His double?
Wife getting ready for meeting tonight with church organization so I will be cooking while she is gone. Got some ham in the frig and vegetables and taters to cook. Had Chinese take out last night and also for lunch today. It was good.
Been getting some photos and videos lately from friends on vacation. Makes me want to go too. One guy flew to London then took a cruise ship back to Canada and finished up in New York. Sounded like an interesting trip. They took a picture of an ice berg big enough to sink the Titanic. Made me think about that. I think they stopped some place in Greenland, then St. Johns. That was the last point of land that Lindberg flew over on this side of the Atlantic on his way to Paris on that historic solo flight of his.
later,
Ray

Good Evnin' Y'all From Crystal Clear But Cold Taxachusetts,
It was 41 last night!!! Could it possibly snow by October?
There is comfort in knowing the constancy that is the POT. Who would have thought that this year's Boston Red Sox would go from last place to the best record in baseball after unloading three superstars in the off- season and their huge salaries (Carl Crawford, Alex Gonzalez, and Josh Beckett) and replacing them with guys we never heard of? These present players are playing hungry and playing for their jobs which is a novel idea today in professional sports.
Since my last post whenever that was, we picked up a female Doberman puppy to serve as a bookend to Maximus. Raven is 3 months old and a little holy terror. Piranha have nothing on her as she is a chewing machine and has more energy than the Energizer Bunny. Maximus likes her, but we have to keep a lid on their play because Maximus is a tad too big (and rough) for her and he likewise is very high energy. Presently I am sleeping on the couch as we are in the puppy housebreaking process..... which means when she has to go she has to go. 24/7. As bad as having a newborn, except at least with a newborn you can put a diaper on them.
I seem to be unable to find (on my smart phone) the POT preference settings which permit me to have the most recent post listed first. I can set this on my PC but not the phone. Consequently, I have to page through all of the month's posts to get to the current stuff. Any suggestions? Where is the preference menuu?
I gotta run. The puppy is chewing on my wife, and from the sounds of things she is not happy about it.
Before I close...... prayers for those who need them.
Later, gang,
Don,
Probably West Virginia has some of the best train rides second only to California or Colorado. I have ridden the Potomac Eagle, Cass and New River.

Buckeye, The photos are terrific.

Aloha from a beautiful Sunny Fall day in Chicago. Nice TARDIS ride last night. What a nice photo Buckeye!DonB, do they run the steam engine year round at Knotts or substitute the Goose? I was curious as my daughter was telling me what they do at Cedar Point after Labor Day.
Good Morning

Good Morning from Blueberryhill............
It is a cloudy 46 degrees. Going up to 76 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. A few chores to do and then I can run trains for a few hours. "The Katy" arrived yesterday. It is a beautiful engine. I will try it out and enjoy it. Then, lunch and a nap.

Oldest daughter's kids lost 6-0 tonight. Granddaughter was goalkeeper and did make one save. Work was quiet. Cooler weather.
Last week it a was privilege to be able to travel in "Almost Heaven, West Virginia". I stayed overnight at Pipestem State Park.
Down the mountain is Hinton, WV where in October they will celebrate Railroad Days with the New River Gorge Train Rides.

Don....What did I tell you? The Chief wears that Bunny Suit to all the big fancy functions.
Aloha. Grey and cool but not bad. Saw my first winter coat of the season, complete with hat, gloves and scarf. It's still in the 50s and will probably reach the 70s. Sigh. Looks like a busy Monday. Nice, if too brief, TARDIS ride last night. Switched back and forth between the 49s game and the long NASCAR race - 11 hours with the delay - isn't that like they averaged 35 mph to complete 400 miles
Good Morning from Blueberryhill.............
It is a cloudy and cool 64 degrees. Going up to 78 today with some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Wife has some errands to run. Will be gone most of the day. I have some chores to do and some paperwork Will be busy until lunch and then, a nice nap.
The usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Filled 3 trash cans with sticks from yard. Been awhile since I picked up sticks. No mowing as still too dry.
Aloha from a cold and rainy northeastern Illinois - turned on the heat (!) for the bride. We can use the moisture. Worked all weekend at church. Watched some great football. Glad Joe is in the States even temporarily - and able to watch a little football. My bride was born in RI. I liked the highway signs that said 8 minutes to Massachusetts as soon as you crossed the border. Laz, Bears!
