Mornin' Fellas

Not much going on these days other than trying to get ahead at work in preparation for vacation next week.

Matthew is finally starting to sit on his own, did so for 15 minutes last night - then the cat walked in and he 'forgot' what he was doing. He then assumed the 'crawling' position and started rocking back and forth on his hands and knees... so it won't be long and he will be mobile!

I would post pictures but since there are some that frown on the practice I will refrain - the voice of the few ruin it for the majority.

I'll probably get blasted for this too...

For those that remember him... 1 year ago today Wes' wife Beth lost her battle with br3@st cancer. Angel

Brent you are right, to satisfy a few, they spoiled the pot for many.

Yes I remember a year ago. It's good to see that Wes is doing well.

Good Morning All !

Looking forward to today, no Dr visits planned.  Yea, the Chief is correct.  Had to go to dentist on Tuesday, had an abscessed tooth that had to be removed.  Definitely not the best timing!

Brent, I sure didn't read that restriction that way.  I would encourage you to post those pictures of Matthew.

Hope Wes is doing OK!  Angel

Brent, I don't think it was the intent of the forum to restrict pictures to the point where you can't even show a single shot of your child.  Go ahead and post it.

Don, sorry about your dentist experience.  Went myself this week but it was far less traumatic.  I only had a canker sore that needed treatment and has since cleared up.

Been cool in the mornings at least of late.  Good for walking and time in the train room/garage.

Went out to eat at an italian restaurant with group last night.  Food was unimpressive.  Threre were three or four dinnners on my side of the table with different things but it all looked the same.  They just covered everything with a red sauce no matter what it was.  I ordered eggplant parmaginna but it tasted like a big wad of cheese covered with spaghetti sauce.  No taste of egg plant at all.  Big dissapointment.  Next time will believe the reviews on the internet.

Need to make appointment for my drivers test coming up next month.  If this one is good for another 5 years I would be 81 when the next one is due and may not care wheather I drive or not.

Friend, Larry,, drummer in the jazz band I know will be playing this weekend at a spanish heritage park a few miles from me.  Would like to go if my wife is up to it.  If not I may go by myself.  The band leader is 89 years old now and I don't know how much longer he can keep going.  I'm afraid the band may split up if he quits.

All the interest locally about moving the U.P. Big Boy from the L.A. Fairground back to Cheyenne for restoration has got me wanting a model of it but I think I will get over that when I look at the prices.  There have been several versions made. i.e with and without proto one, two or three.  Also made by Lionel with Legacy etc or whatever they use.  I'll wait until WBB comes out with one for $40.  I can dream can't I?

Have a good day,

Ray

ChiefEagles

Big reception and dinner in Raleigh this evening.  Have to dress up in suit and tie. Indifferent

For those of you that don't understand suthern, let me interpret the Chief's comment.

Big picnic and hog roast in the big city after sundown.  I am going to wear the Easter Bunny costume since the tie is already tied.

Buckeye had better be quiet coming this way.  We will get him this time if he says a peep.

I was in and out of North Carolina so fast it would have made your head spin.  It was 94 degrees in the shade in Charlotte.  There seems to be thousands of Buckeyes in Charlotte.  Four state troopers watched me all the way back to the Virginia State Line yesterday, where I roared through the tunnel to safety. I then hid in the WV mountains last night.

Brent, I agree with Chuck.  A couple photos were not the problem.

Good night all busy day.  Another one tomorrow.

Got to judge a womanless beauty pageant.  Fund raiser for a little boy of a fireman with special disease.  Told them I would as long as I didn't have to kiss the winner.  Surprise Embarrassed

Saturday, drive the train for the train for the kids.  Also judge the bar-be-que cook off.  Pork and chicken.

BRENT, You know better.  Confused  In fact it said layout photos and to post them on a separate thread so you could update and have a progress report.  As I remember, you made a "comment" about that then.   Spanky and others have done that.  Nothing said.

Tired so off to bed.  BTW: two days in a row of walking a continuous 2 miles plus at one time.  Also on carbs to speak off.

Sleep tight.

Good evening all.

Lots of soccer scores.  Boys lost Tuesday 7-3 and tonight 3-2.  Girls won 3-1.  My team lost 3-1, but 3 of the girls came over after their game to watch mine.  It was so cool.   They rang the cowbell when we got our one goal.

Good evening everyone. Been crazy busy lately. Long cases and lots of meetings and busy work as we refine our practice to conform to the new government requirements.

Got several friends who are in the final chapter of life. It really is sad to see otherwise successful people who do lots of good in the community as they suffer with terminal illness.  Just have to keep in mind that this is not our final destination.

for those who know great Italian cooking in NYC, I got the recipie for Patsy's tomato basil sauce. Cooked it tonight and will make some Ziti tomorrow. Looking forward to some good eating, but being on call, have to hope I don't get called in.

Well, I hope each of you have a blessed week.

Hello all,

Refreshing  56 this AM.

 TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hudson, Mrs asked me if that was your Ice Cream Shop where the fire started.

It looks like the fallen rider will live but as he was brought out of sedation there appears to be more brain damage than originally thought. He has been moved from Altoona Hospital to one geared more for his injuries

Never did get to Dads heat on Labor Day weekend. That’s on the schedule for tomorrow.

Due to weather extremes our garden produced very very little this year. BIL gave us tomatoes and Mrs & I did 16 Qt of  juice last evening.

Best get busy, try to get back over the weekend

Prayers for those in need

Aloha from a brisk and sunny northeastern Illinois where Fall has fallen, and I have some yard work to do now that the broken tree is gone. Nice Parents Night over at the youngest's school. The teachers sure put in the work with the kids. It was nice to be able to walk over there and back. Special dinner tonight celebraitng our particular church being 10 years old. I have to serve this weekend there too so that takes a good chunk of Sat. and Sun. but still looking forward to the weekend.

I ran Ivor the Engine around the layout this morning. He's fine.

Konbanwa,

It's almost midnight here and I'll be off to bed soon.  I had a busy day of finishing up odds and ends before I fly out tomorrow.  I leave for Narita airport at 0900 tomorrow morning.  Even though it's only about 75 km away it takes about three hours to get to the airport due to traffic.  The flights are long and I'll land in Providence, RI around 1930 EST.  Then I have a short drive to Newport.  So for about six weeks I'll be in the same time zone as most of you, and actually be able to watch baseball and football at a normal time.  I should also be able to make some Tardis rides.  If anyone has any train related (real or toy) recommendations for the Newport, RI area, please let me know.

Chief - Good for you on getting the walking in and avoiding carbs.  We started eating "grain free" around Easter and the results have been amazing.  If you want to know more, I'll give you my phone number when I'm in RI.

Joe

Konnichiwa,

It is now Saturday, 13:51 here in Japan.  I am at Nartia now and will board my plane in about 45 minutes.  The shuttle ride to the airport took longer than usual; just about four hours.  I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep on the flight.  I have a window seat so I should be able to get through the flight undisturbed.

Ohayo Chuck.

Joe, I am sure it is too late this time, but for future, the Delta Skyclub there has Sushi!  We had a several hour layover on the way to Beijing.  Hope flight went well. Regarding Providence, never been there.

starting day early. Dogs and kids up, and I have to go do rounds at the hospital.  Want to get that out of the way before daughter #1 goes to ballet theater practice. She has a part in Peter Pan this December.  Hope to get some layout time in.  I also want to visit one of the folks on the short trip into eternity this morning. Thanks for prayers Laz.

may Od bless each of you.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 57 in what is gearing up to be a fabulous weather weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Hope to make the most of it Pirate.  Forgot to mention that the B-17 Memphis Belle flew right over the yatchet last Sunday while we were under sail.  Very cool.

I don't think Hudson's wifey's shop is in SeaSide.  Sure would like him to post and confirm all is well.

Demay - Safe trip. Travel

Good Morning!

I'm going on an excursion this morning!  Kay & Chris taking me to Org Coty Fairgrounds to an antique show !  Yahingoo!

Fife - That is awesome to have seen the B-17 flyover!  Could you imagine having a dozen or more flying over at once would have been terrifying!

Demay - Glad to see you coming home for awhile.  25 miles in 3 hours, then the long flight! Dont envy that though!  I was in Nurita long time ago, just briefly though.  And it was crowded then.  Longest trip I was on  was Bangkok to LA, or maybe Stockhom to LA via Paris, not sure.

Dennis, You sure have a way with words.  "I also want to visit one of the folks on the short trip into eternity this morning."  Thanks for what you do!  Most people dont even know folks like you exsist.  It would be interesting if a pole was done r surgical procedures of the patients on, How Many People Do You Believe Are In The OR During Your Surgery?

Chief - Im surprised you havnt had an "accident" yet.  Out there inspecting the city on your 2 mile walk.  PD probably has an unmarked car following you.  Now IF your going to wear the uniform you must wear it properly, including the gloves and bandana!  Also, 2 short = forward, 3 short = reverse, 2 long, 1 short, 1 long = crossing, 1 short = stopped.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning all,

Don, glad to hear that you are going on an excursion.  Getting out of the house sounds like good therapy.

Chief, congas on the two mile walks.  I'm doing good here to walk jiust 20 minutes each morning what with the heat and all.  Be careful running that choo choo.  Don't join the birds like some other guy we know.

I am going to try and make the music concert this afternoon a few miles from us in a park.  It is billed as "A Ticket to the Roaring Twenties."  There will be two bands.  A friend of mine is playing in one of them.  Wife will go if she feels up to it.  She has been having trouble with neck pains but wears a collar sometimes that helps.  Whatever happens, it will probably be hot.  However, there are lots of shade trees there.

We had a get together at my friend Larry's layout on Thursday night.  Good time was had by all.  Larry is a great modeler as well as an operator of trains.  He has a large collection of scale trolley cars that he built in addition to the trains.  Being from Chicago, he modeled a lot of the trolleys and interurban cars from there.

V8, I saw the news in the paper about Drivers License for illegals.  What next?  Also in the paper today, story about letting parts of the L.A. River go wild again.  Hope they don't mess up flood control while they're at it.  I think it is just the section from Taylor Yard and to the North towards Burbank and beyond.  The lower part through L.A.. will remain lined with concrete.  Otherwise, the taggers would have nothing to write on.  Wouldn't that be too bad.

Later,

Ray

Good evening everyone. Thanks Don for the kind thoughts.  Funny thing about obamacare, a lot of payment schedules are tied to patient satisfaction. If I do my part well, they will never know I exist.  I do make rounds on the patients who are very sick and come in emergently. They need a number of folks with a coordinated effort to get them well.

Chief, there is a lot to. Be said for a couple mile walk. Between the lake and the picturesque town you live in, it must be a pleasure to take in.

Hudson, glad the shop is OK. Terrible fire there. I spent many a summer between Seaside and Manasquan.

time for bed. God bless,

Dennis

Saw Grandson play soccer today.  He got 2 goals and an assist in a losing 8-6 effort.  Team will improve.  Daughter is coaching.  Spent the rest of the day doing "retail therapy'.  Scored John Allen's book on the  Gorre and Depheatid  in an antique store.   Good day.  Good weather.
