Good evening all,

Gave "Victory" drinks to soccer kids.  Had power company and remove creaking tree limb overhanging power line in street.  OK day at work.

Busy day.  New phone [so far, I love] and meetings.  Tonight was the first meeting of The Community Gardeners of Rolesville.  Held at my house.  After everyone left, I reclinerized.  Off tomorrow [today] for GA.

Yes, Don called and is at home by now.  Great news.  Cost me several thousand dollars to bribe DR's to keep him this long. Whistling  Actually, I think he will heal better at home.  He will relax and be happy.  Always helps healing.  I did like the part about him thinking he was going to a rest home. Laugh  I have really got to give that nurse a "tip".

Sleep tight.

Buckeye Riveter

Don, Is our tennis match cancelled for tomorrow?  If you forfeit, you still owe me on the bet.  Laugh

Thanks to Chuck I was looking forward to getting tons of  important work done today.  I sent him a stack of railroad permits to fill out and he said, "I would rather take a nap."  Good help is hard to find.

Buckeye !  Buckeye ! Buckeye ! Buckeye ! Where the heck are you?? I can only hold the court open for another half hour, if you don't show up!  And then you know what that means, I win the bet.  (You and Chuck were going to come out and elevate my G-Scale track.)  So I will go ahead and get the PVC pipe and T fittings.

Arrived home safely!!  Was a little concerned about the police and fire trucks lined up at the entrance but it worked out.   The neigbors all maintained well, and nobody got out of control.   Festivities for today are relatively "low keyed", some of the guys from Knott's are bringing over some guest rental "scooters" and we are going to have some races.

So need to get busy, will give one last look around for Buckeye, the get stuff set up for this afternoon.

Good morning all,

Washed  my Honda this morning for the first time since paint job about a month ago.  Noticed I still have a problem with the windshield washer jets being clogged with paint.  I cleaned them out with a pin but still have a floater in there somewhere that reclogs the works.  Will call the paint shop today for fix.

Don, glad you made it home in time for the tennis match with Buckeye.  Sounds like he's a no show.  All talk!  I like the photo of your new wheel chair.  All you need now is a small water cannon to clear people out of your way.  Scooter races sound like fun too.  Let me know when you make it into the train room.  Sure you can find things to do in there.  Sympathy for Kay who has her work cut out.

Too hot for walk this morning.  I was sweating after washing the car and that was before 9:00AM.

We are going to our over the hill gang get together "Prime Club" pot luck dinner tonight at one of the members homes.   Our ranks are thinning due to death and distance with some who have moved.  Still have about a dozen though.

Had Tony Roma Ribs last night from Costco with all the trimmings.  Good stuff!  Now have to figure out what to bring to the pot luck.

Chief headed for Georgia.  I guess he will see Dennis.

School started here today.  Cars parked all the way back to my house and beyond for parents registering kids and school is over a block away.

later,

Ray

Afternoon Boyz & Girlz !

Good to see Shake n Bake is back, seems as though the Doc's must have used laughing gas to knock him out. He's actually funny now !  Smile, Wink & Grin  Ashamed

Busy couple of days working in daughter's classroom getting it ready for the kiddo's on Monday, I'm Dead . The room was about 95% ready when we left late yesterday afternoon so her indentured servants, Mom & Dad, were given the rest of the week off. Thumbs Up Perfect timing, the garage door opener died what seems a violent death. Ordered a new one and I'm listening to SWMBO and having it installed.

Got club meeting Thusday nite and museum on Friday, sure would like to feel a bit more energetic.

Angel for Jeffrey.

Time to see if I can figure out what I take to the museum on Friday.

Later all.

Hello everyone.

Don: I pray you continue to recover.

Regarding Jeffrey, below is a quote from the MR main forum thread about his surgery:

"

I just talked with Jeff. He sounded great! Says he will get out of hospital (Oakdale, LA) in next day or two. It was a short call because a nurse came in the room to take care of something for Jeff.

I read several of the posts to him, and he is very thankful to each of you! ..... He said : "Tell my friends in the forums I appreciate their support and I am thinking of everybody in the forums. "

Next, he will go live with his Dad for a few weeks. He has a computer there for the internet. If all goes well he can return to the forums in a few days.

I must say, I am very impressed with all of the replies in this thread. Each of you is a very good person. Bow

Prayers continue for Jeffrey! Angel "

Another nice sunny day that was about 80 degrees today.  It is the middle of August, the lawns are lush and green and we have not had the usual string of 100 degree days - this is unnatural!

Continued prayers for healing and rehab.

35 years ago today, I started my engineering career.  The company has gone through numerous mergers and re-organizations over the years, yet the job remains the same - design the product, tooling, and processes to keep quality product flowing into the empty trucks at the factory loading docks on time and on budget.  About the only thing that has changed is how old all of my friends have gotten - I certainly have not changed one bit!

About all for now.

An excellant summary!  I can relate to that excact scenario as well.  I would suggest that that was wat the backbone of our country was built upon.  Sure kept a lot of people employeed,  I too proud  to have been a part.

So here at home again today, officially notified that my status has been changed to "Leave of Absecnce".    Still finding more and more bruises and sores.  As I'm left handed, the left thumb is becoming more of an issue every day!  Gets to be painful just trying to use a knife on toast, then to support my weight on one leg with the walker and both arms.  Tthat thumb sure reminds me it is there.

But, I CAN'T complain at all when I think about Jeffrey and what he is going through  I think of him everyday!!

I received some good news today as well, got my A&W Root Beer Stand, and White Castle stand in the mail.  Maybe start working them next week..

Had plans on writing a longer post but, not going to make it today.  (Buckeye, you got to find somewhere better than Venice Beach, guys are "mowing" people down over there now.  How about the Cliffs at Huntington?  I can wait there for you all day, and will give you a week to make it. No problem.

Last comment,  i CANT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU GUYS!  i AM PROUD TO SAY YOU ARE THE CLOSEST FRIENDS I HAVE.  THANKS FOR CARING!!!!!!!!

Good morning all,

Don, glad to see you posting.  Sorry about the sore thumb.  Hope it gets better soon.

Went to pot luck dinner last night and it was very good.  Lots of appetizers followed by dinner including pulled pork sandwiches.  I had three of them. Oink!  Paying the price today though.  Desert was a delicious cherry covered cheese cake among other things.  Event of the party was a tarantula that showed up in the yard.  Host killed it with a shovel so I never saw it in one piece.

Hello all

TGIF!!!!!!!!!

Clear cool mid 40's with a touch o' fall in the air here.

Glad to see Don & Jeffry are on the mend.

In early today as I have to skip out later to take Mom & Dad to Uncle's Funeral. He never was close but hasn't spoken to me since I was a "Dirty B*****d" and asked the Doc to take Dad's Drivers License. Unless something changed after the above incident he hasn't spoken to his son in close 30 years. May he RIP.

Best get busy.

Aloha from a beautiful day in Chicagoland. Been there, Spank... Spent the past two days in planning meetings at church. Then my bride surprised me with her new job. She hadn't even finished applying for this school nurse position in a small district about 40 minutes away when the superintendent called her for an interview and then almost immediately offered her the job - so she started work this AM in the middle school of 800 students. Proud of her. Just goes to show you there's still a nursing shortage.

I'll finished all her paperwork for her and set up all these appointments to get fingerprints, med workup, and fortunately there's space in the early morning extended time program at the youngest's school. Well, it'll be a whirlwind of activity for the next few days. Had to cancel my trip out to Cedar Point.

Glad Don and Jeffrey are home

HOME!!!!!!  Long rides.  First to Ft. Benning and then down to Albany to visit Dennis.  We had a great meal and time together.  Got to see Kim again.  Also, Robbie and Lela who have grown up.  Got to see Julie and Andrew for the first time.  Thought Julie was coming back to NC with me.  Great family and God bless for the adoptions.

Dennis brought up something.  Was it an omen that I was visiting him.  Took a long trip to visit Don and a few weeks later he has a bad accident.  Now laid up for several weeks. Surprise Told him to stay off of ladders and etc.  Now if something does happen, I'm on the first flight to Columbus OH. Whistling

Rained most of the trip past Atlanta, while we were there, when we left, when we left Albany and all the way to just south of the SC line.  This AM, sprinkled from there to Gaffney, SC.  Then fine all the way home.  Did stop at Concord Mills [Charlotte] Bass Pro Shops.  Got everyday boots and a bracket for the Crappie Jon.

No wonder Chuck eats his Cheerios.  Got to have his strength. Whistling

Banks, my not be close but condolences.

Glad to hear Jeffrey is doing better.

Don is doing good too [we chat by phone].

Now to rest from my trip.  Good to be home.

Chief, glad you and Dennis were able to get together.  I guess there really is an Albany in Georgia.  I first heard that name mentioned on a station announcement that MTH put on an ACL E6 engine.  I kept thinking, isn't Albany in New York?  Haven't seen too much of Georgia myself.  Just blew through there on the way to Florida a while back with my brother on a fishing trip.

Re Bass Pro Shops, a guy here at our pot luck dinner the other night said he was able to buy some Muskee or Pickeral or one of those Northern fish fillets at BPS.  I guess they have everything.

Think we will have homemade fish and chips for dinner tonight.  Just picked up a whole bag full of fish sticks from Costco the other day.  Not like fish at home in Virginia but better than nothing.

Sister in Virginia who has been in a nursing home for a short time had to be readmitted to the hospital recently according to BIL.  Says she has been "sick as a dog" to quote her.  Seems like no end to this battle she is going through since colon surgery.

Don, glad to hear that Bob made it over to your house.  Hope you get your trains running soon.  I know you will.  I had some unexpected visitors yesterday afternoon who wanted to see my train layout.  I explained that the temperature in the garage was 100 at the time but they didn't care so off we went.  Had to turn off pool filter on same circuit to get enough power to run the trains.  It was not very comfortable out there but they enjoyed themselves.  Have to look into installing small a/c unit for the garage but would probably have to rewire the garage too.  I should have done all that stuff 20 years ago.  Now I'm getting too old to fooll with it.

later,

Ray
