Good Morning

Another nice and sunny day for us....high near 72...mmmmm...where did summer, as in HHH, go to?  ???

The band did the club in last night...packed house, and blown fuses!! LOL!!!  P-)  (rofl)  ???  (:)) It appears  that one of their staff put in the worgn fuses and we showed up, LOL!!  (rofl) But we did the show, with back up fuses installed, after the the night manager found where the other package of fuses went....

BTW...whoever was asking about the video...the club we are at is getting a professional to do this in a few weeks...we shall see then....  ;)

Good luck with the surgery, Jeff!!

Continued prayers. Angel

DITTO on that ROY.  Thanks for posting on DON's leg.

PS. DON if you need me to  run your engine out there on the Left coast, just forward me about a $1000 dollars and that will cover my cost of getting out there along with the OLD MILs that I will have to consume after running that engine all day long.  Send me a note fore I am a LOKIE runner and will be able to go at a drop of the hat.  If you want you can also send another $1000 and that will give me free reign to invite CHUCK and BUCKEYE to become FIREMAN and CONDUCTOR.  Please let me know.

Best regards,

laz57

Count me in.  I'll take the Conductor job.  Buckeye can be Fireman. He likes to shovel stuff.  LOL

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 79 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Grandbaby here, and have to run trains for him, in between doing laundry.

Had a very nice time with Brent, John, Matthew and Wifey yesterday.  Food was good, beer was cold, rails & sails...  At YORK we tend to be too quick with our visits, so it was great to get time to sit down and get to know the guys.  Told wifey that I'd love to drive up to NJ to spend the day fishing with John.  He is a great story teller, and we enjoyed his company.  Matthew was such a good baby, and I liked his laid back style.  Brent, Let me know when you wanna wire that layout. Thumbs Up

Angel on Don's recovery, and Jeff's surgery.

Stay foamy. Pirate

Afternoon Fellas

Like Fife said, GREAT time yesterday! What we learned:
1. John had a very interesting childhood
2. Brent had an interesting childhood
3. Fife as an Angel
4. Trains look slower from a distance
5. Takes 4 seconds for Matthew to fall asleep to the sound of a boat's engine
6. Nauti-Goose has great food, great beer, great mixed drinks, and above all great service
7. Matthew likes trains Thumbs Up

He is absolutely right about York being too short.

Was going to post more photos, but I can't remember how many are acceptable, so went with one.

Afternoon all.  Sunday School and then Smithfield Bar-Be-Que with slaw sandwich for lunch [Ray, eat your heart out].  Hot and humid again.  Tstorms forecasted [bunches yesterday evening].  High was 97 and 97% humidity with 78 dew point.  105 heat index.  No wonder I sweated so much in the woods [no breezes].

Good looking crew up there.  Bet you all had a good chat.  I will say, 88, you and I both need a diet. Whistling  Age catching up . Wink

Now Mr. Shake and Bake is trying to tell me he is going home today.  That is with no cast????  Unless he has conned the Dr. into not keeping an eye on his surgical wound.  Sneaky rascal.  Will update after we talk by phone.  Think he can not stand to be away from the forum as he thinks we are bashing and cutting him.  He knows I would never do that. Laugh

Have a good one.

Now Mr.

Chief, what's this?  Don going home?  I don't know what to think now.  He is living proof that you can't keep a good man down but I'd be surprised if he is actually going home before the cast goes on.

Enjoy your Bar-B-Que and slaw sandwich.  That's the right way to eat it.

Nobody in the family eats spaghetti with a tomato based sauce anymore for various health reasons but I love it.  I rarely make any since I'm the only one who eats it so yesterday I cooked up a batch and pigged out on it.  Got some left over but I can finish it off before it spoils.

I heard from my son that they are already doing prep work in Pomona, Ca. for moving the Union Pacific Big Boy back to Cheyenne this fall for restoration. This is one project that I never thought I would see.  Would like to see the N&W 611 run  again too but so far only funding is coming from railfans.  I doubt if that will be enough.  Need someone with deep pockets.

Sending best wishes and offering prayers for Jeffrey's surgery tomorrow.  Hope it goes well.

Ray

Good day at the museum on friday then the munchkin spent the nite with gramps & granny. Took him home saturday afternoon then on to the museum to work on after hours inventory of club's assets. Followed up by a later than normal supper with our spouses, pretty good burger w/onion rings (not exactly heart healthy but it is nice every once in awhile).

Got to get movin' , later all.

Mr. Shake and Bake is in for another night.  Probably two more nights.  This is good.  He is trying to rush it.  He is doing good as you can see.

One reason is his butt is sore.  Anyone who has had to stay in a hospital bed for several days knows, when you lift the back and head, the bed bends right where you sit.  Thus, the mattress is thinned and makes a hard place to sit.  Sitting on pillows helps but still not good.  With only a splint [no cast yet], not much moving goes on anyway.  OH MY BEHIND!!!!!

I agree Doug, L for Lionel, then he can see if they will donate some trains for the free advertising.

Laz, the USS New Jersey is if Camden, and it is a museum.  I would love to visit her.

Chief, Ray, thanks for the updates on Don. They may leave the cast off and use one of the new splints that they have now. Even comes with a cooling system to keep swelling down.

Been a great day with church. Did have one draw back though. Youngest daughter took pink markers and wrote all over herself. Then, decided to make flowers out of all the buttons on one of our cloth chairs in the den, followed by writing on the leather sofa and chairs!  Oh well, no one was hurt!

God bless, Dennis

Haven't checked the pot for several days.  Missed Don's story.  Sending prayers for healing and rehab.

We ran a kids program at the depot museum yesterday.  Had 3 loops of O gage set up and two loops of HO set up.  Only problem is, the State Fair is in town this week and was apparently a bigger draw for kids - we didn't get any.

Anyhow, it was a good practice run for the HO stuff.  It was donated to the museum last year.  The museum does not have a spot for a permanent layout, so we are building a modular layout.  I spent most of the evenings last week making corner module table tops.  The next task is to get the main lines mounted and the wiring done on the modules.

Speaking of the State Fair, we spent the afternoon there today.  One of the shows was a jousting show put on by the same group that does Knights of Valor on the History Channel.  Neat show with knights, armor (shining!), horses, and lances.  That is something I have a burning desire to try, though.

About all for now.

Konbanwa,

The heat and humidity are killing me this year.  The high has been typically in the 97-99 range and then with the humidity it’s unbearable.  I planned to run 12 miles this morning but had to stop after hitting 10 miles as I was already zapped.  I even started at 0530 but I still couldn’t beat the heat.  Needless to say, the workday seemed to drag on as I was exhausted and could have easily gone to sleep at my desk.  I’m sure I’ll sleep like a log tonight which will be shortly.

Don – It’s good to see you were able to write a post.  I hope you have a quick and healthy recovery.

Laz – It’s nice to see you posting again.

Sayonara,

Joe

Mornin' Fellas

Was down in the train room doing some wiring yesterday and I found a few issues.

1. Make sure you put a tie connector on EVERY tie with Atlas track. You miss one and the current doesn't flow. I found 2 missing center rail connectors inside the mountain. Bang Head
2. Make sure you identify and isolate each block BEFORE you screw down the track... Bang Head
3. After 5+ years of construction, make sure you CLEAN the track Bang Head
4. Apparently I installed two three way switches to allow me to power down the layout. Problem is I can only find one! Bang Head
5. It is extremely fun when a 2yo comes into the train room, WALKS under the layout, gives you a hug, says "I love you Dadda", then turns around and walks out... then from the other side of the layout says "Dadda, make Choo-Choos go now?". Thumbs Up

Still have a lot of drops to wire, but in all it is going as I had hoped. Now to order the 4 position rotary switches and knobs (I was going to use the 12 position switches and knobs but I found the additional positions lead to confusion and the knobs I bought aren't want I was hoping they would be. I will keep these incase I need them for another project).

Don - time to start thinking about the 'accident story'. I'm thinking something to do with sky-diving and falling through trees because the chute didn't open should get you started. Big Smile That is one nasty scar you are going to have.

Buckeye shoveling stuff Laugh

Went to schedule our sitting for the family photo this Saturday only to find that Sears Photo has shuttered their doors as Sears partnered with another company that went belly up. Sucks because they had the most locations in the area, now we have to drive 45 minutes to get it done.
