Mornin' boys.  Brent and I will be headed to the Nauti Goose in Northeast (Cecil Co), MD tomorrow (Sat) around 2.  Any of you guys that wanna join us, let us know, we'll save you a chair.

Looking forward to it!

---
Chief - I'm no expert but it looks like his tibia and fibula are what are broken - not his femur. The femur is the upper leg bone and if you break it you run the risk of severing the femoral artery - which is typically fatal.

When I broke my arm a few years ago I broke the humorous (upper arm bone) clean through (could move my shoulder and only about 1/2 of my upper arm would move - cool thinking about it now, but disturbing beyond all belief when it first happened), and broke my wrist... breaking the wrist caused the ulna and radius to turn on themselves resulting in them being on the opposite side of the wrist than they were supposed to be. It is only because TheQ got me to the hospital so quickly, and then transferred me to Union Memorial in Baltimore and got me with the right doctors, that I have the use of the arm that I do - and quite frankly even have the arm today at all.

From reading about his injuries Don is certainly in for a long, long road to recovery. I have been praying for him and his family since you first reported this the other night.

Don - take care and God Bless. Do what the Doctors tell you. We all know you are as stubborn as the goose you fell from! Wink Prayers for you buddy!

Morning.  HOT AND HUMID!!!!!!  Just finished Rolesville High School video for Mayor's Show.  Now to sweat it out doing outside chores and getting ready to go down east to farms tomorrow to do stands, cut shooting lanes [grown up during summer] and spray them with Ranger [great herbicide].  Will be rough as more humid tomorrow.  Due points way up there.

Hope Don's surgery has been moved up to 11 AM.  Sooner the better.  Old boy has suffered enough.  Kay is not aware of it being moved up.  Don is not replying.  Isn't today's technology great.  Prayers.

Thanks for all the prayers for Don.  Great bunch here.

Later

PS: message from Kay.  Surgery prep starting there around 11 to 12.  Surgery at 1.  Already on pain meds and etc.  Having a time trying to use phone.  HIGH!!!!

Morning all,

Laz, it is really good to see you posting again.  Sounds like you have been eating good with all that lobster etc.

Spoke with Don's wife Kay briefly this morning.  She was taking his cell calls.  Sending prayers for Don and her.Angel

Had to run a bunch of errands this morning and as a result did not go with my son and grandson to visit the U.S.S. Iowa Battleship.  Will go later.

Have a good Friday all,

Ray

Seems the story is getting a little thicker theres a report that when they went to investigate the engine They crawled into the cab this time and this brown jug about a quart size was in the corner behind a jacket and the jug had three white XXX painted on it. One of the investigating officers opened it up and took a whiff and passed out. They think they found the reasoning of Don falling off the engine.

When asked about it Don said oh that stuff we put it on the coal to get it to burn hotter Friend from N.C.  brought it to me It a secret recipe he said

Evening all not much else going on tonight Hope Don is healing well. Talk to you all later

Good evening everyone. Prayers still lifted for Don, and those caring for him.  Brent, I caught that, but have found it best to wait as most times people don't get the full story as it gets passed down the line. Femur fractures can be real bad, or not too bad, depends on the mechanism of injury.

Somewhat long day as I had a big case earlier, then it was the kids first day back to school.  We are happy with the teachers and the schools.  We picked kids up and headed out for custom cup cakes! Yum!!

hope to check in soon and hear some good news on Don.

God bless,

Dennis.

Latest Don report is nothing.  Just text Kay.  She is sitting nervously waiting just like me. Tongue Tied Sigh He was late going in.  Did not leave room until 1:35 their time.  Probably didn't get started until 2 PM or so.

Banks, prayers for the Wifey.

Midnight and no word.  I text Kay at 11:30.  No answer.  Hope that means he is in recovery and she is in another part of hospital.  Got to hit the road early tomorrow [today] for down east.  I drive on top of that.  If I get any message, I'll post.

Good evening everyone.  I thought I'd check in to see how Don is doing before I say a few prayers and hit the hay.  Hopefully the Docs have put him back together and all is well. Thumbs Up Angel

When the Docs throw him out, he will have to go on tour so that we can all sign his cast!!!!

Good late morning everyone. Getting ready to do some shopping with kids...daughter needs new ballet shoes. Hope to find some fun activity while she and wife are working on emptying the bank accounts.

checking for latest on Don. I know there is a lot of lag time from when a patient goes down to pre-op till they leave the recovery room. In this day of running a more "efficient" health care, some patients actually spend the night in recovery. Not because they are critical, but because there is no room available on the particular floor where the patient needs to go.

Pray that Don has a quick return to full strength and ability.  Also, prayers for Banks' better half.

God Bless,

Dennis

I got a text from Kay very late last night that Don was in surgery for 7-1/2 hours, she talked to the surgeon afterwards and he said everything went well and was very positive on Dons recovery.

Good morning all,

So glad to hear that the surgery went well for Don.  I hope that Kay will get some much needed rest by now while Don is in dreamland.  I don't get text messages but thanks to Chief and Jon for keeping us informed.  I informed a close friend of mine who knows Don and was here on Chief's visit about the accident.  He and I both will go to see Don when he gets home and feels up to it.

Slept late this morning.  Unusual for me so didn't take morning walk until almost 10:00AM.  Running late on everything else too.  Will try to get in train room before it gets too hot.

My son and grandson had a good trip yesterday to see the USS Iowa.  Son brought me a DVD about it.

Prayers for DonAngel

Home from the farms.  Hot and sweated out.  Everyone gave out.  Got a lot done.

Don called about 2 1/2 hours ago [I had just come to the pickup from out of the woods].  Doing good.  Probably be Thursday before going home as leg not in cast.  Dr. wants to watch the incision area.  Make sure no infection before putting in a cast.  All OK.  Dr. well pleased.  I will be calling him as soon as I shower and hit the recliner.

T'storms here.

DITTO on that ROY.  Thanks for posting on DON's leg.

PS. DON if you need me to  run your engine out there on the Left coast, just forward me about a $1000 dollars and that will cover my cost of getting out there along with the OLD MILs that I will have to consume after running that engine all day long.  Send me a note fore I am a LOKIE runner and will be able to go at a drop of the hat.  If you want you can also send another $1000 and that will give me free reign to invite CHUCK and BUCKEYE to become FIREMAN and CONDUCTOR.  Please let me know.

Hello Classic Toy Trains Coffee Shop Patrons. ..... I'm often in the MR Elliots DIner Forum, and have been here rarely.

I was sorry to read about your fellow coffee shop patron's (Don's) accident, and wish him a speedy recovery.

Also, as you know Jeffrey Wimberly is having surgery Monday. I have made arrangements with Jeff so I will be a messenger with news from his Dad about Jeff's surgery after it has been completed. He wants me to let you know when I have news, and I will gladly do so. I have complete failth his operation will go as expected. I admire Jeffrey's positive attitude in spite of his difficult health issues,.and I think he is an inspiration.

Everybody: Enjoy your hobby!

Konbanwa,

I’ve been too busy to post the past few days; I’ve tried to keep up with reading the posts but I haven’t had the time to type one up.  Looking back on the past few days I cannot say what kept me that occupied, so it must have been the usual hubbub of life.  I hope everyone is doing well.

I’ll pray for Don and the rest of us in need.

Sayonara,

Joe
