Don you should of done the LED thing when the chief was there and for the dinner should of had chief there for that also as he can always get a free meal one way or another.

Cameras -- last thoughts ........ maybe
I absolutely love my DSLR, however, it's probably more camera than most folks need but photography has always been a passion for me since my early 20's. I'm on my 3rd digital camera, my first one was an entry level Olympus WITH a viewfinder, I wish I had not given that camera to my son when I upgraded to my Nikon D70s. My Nikon is awesome, even though it's 7 years old and better ones are now available at the same price but that's the way it goes. I chose to add a smaller Lumix point and shoot with a Leica lens for when I take motorcycle trips as I just don't want to have an expensive DSLR on the bike. I love that little camera and the picture quality is amazing, I strongly dislike looking through that back panel to take a pic but it works and it's small. Even when we did our road trip in June that little camera was in my bag ready to go and once in a while we used it.
The bottom line is that digital photography has taken us to a higher level than we've ever experienced. The possibilities are limitless and not paying for developing and printing are wonderful. We have a couple of printers here for hard copies and if you want lots of prints Shutterfly, Photobucket, Costco, etc. are all terrific options when using a computer. IMO photography has never been more affordable than now.

So many roads, so little time.
Good evening everyone. Quick stop over before bed.
Thanks for the kind thoughts regarding the dog, he is getting better. Brent, sorry, hope I didn't get you in trouble. I have a friend in Colorado that has one, but it is not for sale. Banks, I am a SLR/DSLR guy and a Nikon one at that. As others have stated, you really are the one who needs to determine the type of camera that is best for you. Before any purchases, check out sites like Ken Rockwell's that give a thorough review on cameras, lenses, etc. don't bother with the photo magazines, they never give a bad review as the makers are their advertisers.
RT, I got lucky several months ago in that I found the complete set that was the same as my first set, but with box and all on Choochooauctions. No one else bid and I got it real cheap.
God bless,
Dennis

Back home tonight from running the 'eastern circle' last week. We visited one of our kids in Indiana, our parents in Michigan, and our other kid in Kentucky. We also wandered around on our 5 acres in Ky. with a 100' tape and got some idea where we think we want to place the house and out building.
I'll have to put an order in for some KW and ZW parts to get my recent acquisitions up and running.
About all for now.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Supposed to rain sometime. Mowed the yard. Wife took over last "trainable" space in the house proper with a treadmill. May sell entire collection now. Was so looking forward to this weekend and now it is all turned to ash. Just about done with ever planning anything again. Other things going on as well, or not going on.

It's been a long day, I'm . Started at 4:30am and then about a 20 mile stop & crawl traffic nightmare on the way home. Good crowd at the museum today, busier than I had expected. No pileups and just some minor elctronic gremlins.
Buckeye, Bluegils are great for a young fisherman.
DJ, RMT, the Beep people, have been having some great sales on the "Traditional" sized rolling stock.
Trying to watch the Padres/Yankee game but the eyelids seem to be getting awfully heavy. Padres are currently in the lead.
Later all.

Don...Yes, poor planning on your part about that expensive meal. If the Chief had been within 50 miles it would have been free and you would have gotten a refund to boot.
It has been a great week with the daughter and grandsons in Buckeyeland, where the air is cleaner and the grass is greener. We have ran trains inside and outside. We played with the wooden trains. We visited Entertrainment Junction. We ran remote control cars. We went tubing and fishing at the lake. We went swimming We ate pie on the porch. We watched the lumberjacks take down the big trees. Grandpa camp is fun.
Today is train store day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is raining and 65 degrees. Looks like more rain to come. High 74.
Today is an easy day. I plan on reading a new mag. after doing my chores. ZW on the way.
Buckeye...Sounds like you have had a great week.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Mornin' boys. Overcast and 73 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Going with Fifepup later on to buy his new car.
Buckeye - Did we stuff and mount "Mobey", or pitch him back...?
anjdevil - With your new job (conga btw), what's next weekend look like for a get together at Nauti-Goose?
Good morning all,
Bo, I used to take a lot of pictures with an SLR camera which I still have but bought one of the basic point and shoot digital cameras a while back. I took a few layout pictures with it but it is not as good in quality images as the old Pentax SLR I have. Anyway, I have pretty much lost interest in taking pictures of trains in this modern era of motive power. They all look the same to me, especially Amtrak. I do miss the option of manual control with the SLR.
Chief, did you ever post more than one set of pictures from your California trip? I saw the first photos and I thought you said more would follow. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss any.
Went out to Mexican restaurant lost night. Had chile relleno and taquitos with rice and beans. Good but house salsa was too hot. They only had one kind.
My sister in Virginia in post surgery recovery has been moved to a nursing facility closer to her home. However no changes in her condition. At least it's not any worse and not bad enough to remain in the hospital. It has been and remains a long hard battle for her.
Buckeye, wonderful that your grandson is catching fish at that age. Blue Gills are just the right size for him. Photo brings back a lot of childhood memories to me.
Don, what made the restaurant so pricey? Did they have entertainment? Should have gone there with his honor and given him the bill. I guess expensive is a relative term depending on your wallet. To some guys, a double double at N-and-Out is the high end but I don't think I ever paid $17 for a salad unless it was something special. Agree on appetizers, peanuts would do me fine too.
later,
Ray

Good MorningHad an early morning here...needed to get some stuff to our church for next weeks garage sale and then it was off to the university to catch some football practice sessions....then off to the mall for coffee with the gang...then off to Walwart to pick up another camera...Nikon Body with two kit lenses...and an iPad....then...home....sheeesh, lol!
BTW...I had the opportunity, as a 6 yr old to have caught a Northern Pike...but the bloody thing busted my pole in two!! lol!
Have a good afternoon/evening!!
Kind of a mixed day today. Not too hot, but it is very humid. I was planning on mowing the lawn, but put it off to tomorrow.
On the train side of things, I got a new cord put on to the ZW. It passed the smoke test on the bench, so I hooked it up to my loop of track and confirmed that all four outputs are working. The whistle controls seem to be a little flakey, though. No trouble running my 4 motor Alco ABA monster. Has anybody tried cleaning one of these bakelite cases by running it through the dishwasher? I took the first layer of crud off of this one with a toothbrush and hand soap - still has more crud on it.
My wife has a group of ladies coming over to our place Monday night to play a dice game, sooo we've got to drop everything and do what appears to be a top to bottom cleaning before then.
On the down side of today, our last old cat passed. She was frugal with her 9 lives - made them last 20 years. Her passing was not unexpected.
Konnichiwa,
We had a busy few days out here. Nothing major occurred, just the typical family and work activities seemed to require more time the past few days. We also had the church pastor, his wife, and the church summer intern over for dinner on Friday. I grilled some steaks since they live off-base and have to pay a pretty penny for decent steaks out here. Sunday has been nice so far: Sunday school, church, and relaxation.
SP Ray – The series is tied at 1; the Yankees desperately need to win this series.
Rich – Congratulations on the job.
Jack/DJ – I sure hope A-Rod receives a lifetime ban, but not only for the cash flow.
DJ – I hope Corey had a great birthday.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Sunny & 66 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Fifepup is on cloud 9. Picked up his '13 Dodge Dart Rally yesterday. First time he's been truly happy in 5 years. And of course, Rich approves because it's a MOPAR (with a little Italian influence...).
8ntruck - Best regards in the loss of your kitty.
SPMan - Continued for Sis.
88 - for the Princess.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill...........
It is a cool 64 degrees. Going up to a sunny 80 today.
Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores to do and then I can relax. Ballgame this afternoon and a Nascar race. Not much going on, other than that.
Dining car has Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Good MorningSunny and a high of 70 today....Today church then BBQ time .... not much else...Have a good day!!

Started the day off with a bang. Wife slipped and fell in her bedroom while trying to put on socks. Started yelling and I came running from another room. She landed on a knee and turned on her side. Scared the heck out of both of us. She appears to be OK now and can walk and stand with no trouble. No bruising evident so far. Lucky she fell on soft carpet.
Now I am ready for a quiet boring day and will be grateful for one.

Fife,
I've got to give it to Dodge; with the Avenger, Dart, and Challenger, they've almost converted me...almost. I used to think of the Neon whenever I thought of Dodge, but they really seem to be making a much better product now.
I did a vehicle switch this week too. Traded the 2007 Mustang GT in for a loaded 2010 GT in Red Candy with black leather.
I don't miss the 07 at all.

8n,
The Bakelite won't be harmed by the dishwasher, but I wouldn't leave it in for a heated dry. Use some Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish if needed. It will remove stubborn dirt from Bakelite and shine at the same time.
Good Evening.Good BBQ, good friends, good beer....what else could one ask for...oh...great sunshiny day!! BBQ'ed up a few ribeyes with some dry rub mixed in and a whiskey infused BBQ sauce I made up...plus baked potato and grilled veggies as well....lots to be had too!!
Great day here, didn't do much of anything. Did watch Pocono till #48 had an encounter with the wall, seemed like a lot cars were in the DNF category.
Did watch the Padres take another from the Yankees, all the bars and restaurants down in the Gaslamp area were busy busy plus all three nites were sellouts. Come to think of it we did see a lot of visitors friday wearing the Yankee logo at the museum. Now for the O's.
Supper over, creamed chicken w/mashed potatoes, buttermilk biscuits and green beans w/sweet corn. Oink Oink Oink !
BOC, Ribeye is just about my favorite cut.
Later all, got a few more chores to work on.
Home again. Skimmed over the Pot.
Happy birthday little lady.
8N, sorry for the loss.
A new job service as writer at VW. Guess Enterprise is gone. Good news especially salary.
Jon E doesn't like Nikon. Why I do.
Buckeye, I see Grandson can out fish you.
Shake and Bake is still reaping the goods from my visit.
Notagrump, those Yankees will come back and beat you. The other kind, will never win.
Dennis, good news from your place.
Had too many to entertain. First batch, OK. Second batch [uninvited] was too much.
Beat. Reclinerized and missed local news and weather.
Sleep tight.

Konbanwa,
Monday has come and gone out here. This past weekend went by way too fast for me. Fortunately, the workday went by quickly as well and contained just a couple of frustrations. I caught glimpse of the Dolphins-Cowboys game during the day, but I didn’t pay too much attention since it was the preseason opener. I’m roasting chicken thighs and vegetables for dinner tonight since the wife is at a nail salon appointment.
8N – I’m sorry I missed your post about your cat, and I’m sorry for your loss.
AF Ray – Yes it is discouraging. I’m coming to the realization we are playing for a Wild Card spot – and that might be a stretch this season.
SP Ray – I hope your wife is feeling all right.
Dougagrump – Kudos to the Padres. The Yankees are tremendously underperforming right now.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Beautiful and 61 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Redfire - My driveway is starting to look like a mini Dodge dealership. Fifepup doesn't even want me to sit in the Dart's driver seat (I've nicknamed him Dart Vader). Currently, Dodge has the best looking fleet of vehicles. You are always going to be a Mustang man (congrats on the '10), but the cuda is coming back. Yowza.
dougnotta - O's relievers are sputtering badly. Besides, it's that time of year when every warm blooded American male (except cheapclassics) turns his head to Sunday afternoons and Monday nights.
Good MorningWe got down to 45 here...mmmmm....could Fall be around the corner so early? ??Since we are having a somewhat statutory/not quite stat holiday a lot of grocery stores etc are closed but not other stores....Doing some of the planning stuff today...need to measure out the space at the Lair of Doom...think that may be just the name for that studio as well, lol!!Anyhow...have a good one!!
Hold on there Buckaroo ------ you need to do two things, 1. Reread my Nikon comments. 2. Schedule an eye Dr. appt. to get those peepers checked out. I bought my first Nikon D70s a little over seven years ago and I love it, far exceeds my expectations, fabulous camera. A month ago I bought for my wife a Nikon 5200 w/Tamron lens and it's even better than mine.
You should consider putting down your Brownie camera and joining the 21st Century
It is a foggy 58 degrees. Goingup to 76 today with some sunshine.
Today is a usy day. I have a project to work on after the usual chores. I will be busy until lunchtime. Then, a nice nap. Indians game tonite. They are playing the Tigers for 4 games.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Morning all. Sunny and lower humidity [if possible in NC in the summer]. Actually feels good outside.
Busy day. First Monday of the month.
Jon, sorry. I use this big brown box that you look through this little hole in the top and push down this metal lever and hear the shutter click. Load the film in the back in dark room. There was one at Mother's that she had since 1946. Come to think of it, where was it when we closed the house???? Like a few other things, the gremlins ate it.
Hope all have a great week. Especially you workers. Need to keep that SS going.
Later.
