Evening All! Got through the stitch removal! Wasn't as bad as predicted, only bent the arm support of one chair. Turns out some of the stitches were staples, Asked for the Dum-Dum, but they said I was too old. Took about a hour and half,(over 50). So have new cast and next appt a month away! So I'm stuck for a while with both casts.
RT, You were pretty lucky, not to have been caught in the middle of the bridge with a flat.

Busy busy busy....Mercer County Caucus for Firemans Assoc., makes it official, I'm a delegate to the NJ State Firemans Assoc in 2 weeks. One more year then I become a life member. This has been a long road for this little endevor, 3 more years till I get Life status in my firehouse....

It is a gloomy and humid 72 degrees. Looks like rain today with a high of 86.
Today is an easy day. A few chores and then I can relax. Spent a couple hours in train room, yesterday, working on layout. Upper loop is all finished. New switch, track screwed down, new wiring, and new ZW. Trains ran good.
Lunch and a nice nap, later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Morning. Cloudy Scattered T'storms this afternoon. Hope not here around 6 PM for a couple of hours. First football game [JV] being played at Rolesville High School since 1965. Reason for JV, only 9th and 10th grades start a new high school. Advance to varsity next year as 10th graders move up to 11th grade.
Being lazy this AM. Off to the store to get deer corn for park feeder and Wifey for her pet deer [two more learning the corn over the fence thingy]. Also to Lowe's for new breaker for panel box at lake house. Water heater breaker had one bad "leg". Comes from throwing it off and on each time we get there and leave. Lucky neighbor had one to fit that brand of panel box.

L.A.Times had a story about the ribbon cutting on the new grade separation at Colton, California where the Union Pacific and the BNSF cross each other. Now the U.P. crosses on a new flyover. They were just 13 years too late for me when I was an engineer on the U.P. former S.P. I don't know how many hours I spent staring at a red signal and waiting to cross that then Santa Fe track to get in the yard and go home after running almost 200 miles from Yuma. It was the worst bottle neck on the railroad around here.
Been hearing a bunch of stories from people who are self appointed experts about the fate of the U.P. Challenger 3985 now that the Big Boy 4014 is being restored to run. Some say the 3985 and the 844 will be retired or worse. According to a real expert whom I respect, it's all B.S. I'm sure there will be all kinds of rumors about the U.P. steam program in years to come. U.P. has been a class act so far. Wish the Norfolk Southern would step up to the plate and give a little boost to getting the 611 running again.
Ventured out to the train room/garage this morning but got run out by the heat by the time 10:00AM rolled around. Sparkletts water man making a delivery peeped in the door and saw the trains running for the first time. He was blown away. I guess most people we know are used to seeing just one train at the most around a Christmas Tree or something.
A while back, I mentioned a couple of homeless people who were found murdered in our town recently but I am happy to report that it was not the homeless man I knew about who is a fixture around here. I had feared it was him who was killed.

Brent just frustrated at the time but have made a point next time I buy a vehicle check the tire sizes carefully as this is the first car I have ever owned that came factory with different size tires on front than back. so only rotation I can do is left to right not front to back. Give me my truck back.

Played a larger HS [as we only have 9th and 10th grades] that had its first team played together last year. V8 You asked about the Dirt Drags. This is a link to their web site. BBDR. If you go to You Tube and search BBDR you will find lot of videos from there and other Dirt Drags from around the country. BBDR’s strip is 500 feet. Last year I witnessed an ex NHRA drag Bike go through the lights at 130+ MPH. My son on his CR 500 is navigating the 500 feet in 6.6 or 6.7 seconds high 80’s for MPH.
I participated in my first dirt drag at age 16 on my CL100 Honda in 1971. The Fall of 1973 had me buying a Honda CR125 and my racing began in earnest. Spring of ’74 I tried my hand at Motocross a couple of times. Way to hard on Bike and Body so I tried Flat Track and Scrambles (both left & right turns sometimes a jump) Did that for a couple of years while still dragging. 1979 following the birth of my daughter the only remaining Flat track was 2 ½ hours away so I tried Hill Climb. Did that till 2 years ago due to declining depth perception and slowing reaction time. I still go with son and help. I did quit dragging early 80’s as they were too much hassle. Son started about 12 years ago and I did help him build his bikes and went along on occasion to help tune things

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and a project to work on. Then, I can relax and have some lunch. New Deli went in, here in Caldwell. They are from Walnut Creek and have all the great lunch meat and cheese brands.
Of course, a nice nap this afternoon.

This is why I say a quick prayer for you every day. Your job is not one I would want for myself, but I am thankful everyday there are people like you who do what you do. Stay safe my friend.RF - Yokohamas are excellent tires. They are all I put on our cars, actually both BMWs and the Murano have the same model tire. Very quiet, soft ride, wear evenly (if you keep them inflated and rotated and the alignment in check), and have excellent wear life. TheQ put Goodyear Eagles on the Murano about 3 years ago and they were hard as rocks, provided a terrible ride, and were loud with road noise. Put the Yokohamas on and it handles 1,000 better in rain. I'll never own Generals, Goodyears (except triple treads), or Continentals again... and never Pirrellis (too soft). Michellens are great tires, but cost 1/2 again as much as the Yokohamas and not nearly the tread life.RedFire - You live and learn.Been working with Christina on talking back when she is told to do something. She is getting better, but has a way to go. She is a very good child, but I don't and will not accept being told "NO" when she is told to do something. I know she is only 2 years old, but you have to start young IMHO. Last night I told her to go to her bed, and she said "NO", so I picked her up and took her to her room. She cried a bunch. I was able to get her to calm down after about 5 minutes and I asked her "Do you know why we are in here?", "Yes, I didn't listen" "Right, AND you told me NO, which is not respectful" "I sorry Dadda" "Are you going to do it again?" "No" "Promise?" "Yes" "OK, now you promised so you have to abide by that" "OK"fast forward to this morning. I am getting her ready and I told her to get her milk. "No"... "Christina do you remember what happens when you tell Daddy 'No'?" Her face got all concerned "Yes, I have to go to bed" "Do you want to go to bed?" "No, daycare" "OK, then get you milk and I'll take you to daycare" "OK, I sorry Dadda."Round One goes to Daddy.

I was starting to think that the Goodyear Eagles that are on the 2010 (245/45 ZR19) were just noisy and rode hard due to their lower profile. Too much tire noise for me. The 07 had General G Max (235/55 ZR17), and they were much quieter and rode better by comparison.
However, the Pirelli P Zero Nero that come stock on the 05+ Mustangs are the worst tire I've ever experienced. Extremely noisy, lack of grip in wet conditions (even though they're all season), short life, and horribly overpriced.

Finally got my fall league soccer schedule. Only one game a week so I can still see some of the high school games, but most of my games are at 8:00 PM. Could get really chilly in late October. One of "my" soccer girls will be playing for Mrs. Buckeye and my alma mater this fall, Hanover College. Sato 8th quick in practice today for AJ, and Newgarden was 3rd quick for SFHR. "My" soccer kids play back to back tomorrow. Work quiet again.

Went for a walk with my wife this morning in spite of warm temp. about 80 plus and not a breath of air stirring even in the tree tops. Feels like dead air. Anyway just got home and perspiring pretty good and wife aggrevated her neck problem while walking. However we bounce back pretty fast when we get home. Going up to 95 today they say but will probably be 100. They are always conservative on their estimate.
Yahoo across the street who runs a pool cleaning business is out in the yard at seven o'clock on a Saturday morning making all kinds of noise putting something together. Sounded like banging on sheet metal. Some people are unconscious.
Piper Cub made emergency landing on the beach in Santa Monica yesterday and flipped upside down. Not too much damage to plane and only minor injuries to occupants. I heard those planes were worth over $100,000 now since they are a classic airplanes. Probably sold for a couple of thousand when they were new back when.
Need to get some goodies in the house for Labor Day weekend since family will get together one day. Might pick up some Tony Roma precooked ribs on sale.

This is my first post in a few days. Immediately after work on Thursday I had a deacons meeting at church and then the family and I headed to Tokyo for a couple of nights. We stay at a hotel that is for DoD personnel and their families (The New Sanno) and it is in a great location. We arrived around 8:30 PM Thursday night which left us enough time for the kids to swim in the indoor pool. On Friday we spent the majority of the day at Lego Land Tokyo which was extremely fun. I’m sure it is similar to the Lego Lands in the US. I have many photos to post but won’t get to those until later this week. We came back home yesterday and then went to a block party on base. Today, after Sunday school and church I will head to Narita Airport as I have to travel to Canberra, Australia for work. I will be there until Friday so I’m not sure if I’ll have time to post.
On a sports note: The Yankees are still playing well and PSU opened up their season with a win.

And then depending on where you live, it could be broken down into counties or smaller areas and then towns. The last time I lived there, I wasn’t using the internet to shop much, so we pretty much went to local stores to buy what we needed. Finally some rain. Boys tied 2-2 in an epic battle. This was huge as well as this was another potential sectional opponent. Girls got pounded 6-1, but at least it was not a shutout. Sato starts 10th for AJ tomorrow, best start in a while. Wife and I watched 'Grand Prix" tonight. One of the best racing movies...ever.

Everything went smoothly, and there were long lines of well-wishers. Brent, to give you an idea how long the motorcade was, the front was hitting 695 off of 795 as the last car was entering Arcadia.
