Back from the farms.  Only got to 85 and low humidity.  Still hot in the woods when you are clearing and spraying shooting lanes.  Was 55 this morning.  Two degrees from a record low for date.  Heat and humidity coming back.  Off to lake house to mow.  Back Wed. night.

Prayers for Banks friend and Ray's sister.  Others that need them.

Prayers for Kay to put up with Shake and Bake. Wink

Later.

Konnichiwa,

I'm taking a minute to post from work as I have a few minutes to spare.  I did not have much going on today.  I had a good weight training workout this morning and an awesome Japanese curry lunch today.  I do not have any plans for after work this evening.

Chuck - I didn't have anything to post in SPF, but I enjoyed the view of your layout.  I'm sure SPF will pick up again after summer.

I'll pray for all of us in need.

Good Morning,  Joe.

It is a cloudy 72 degrees.  Going up to 88 today with some thundershowers due.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and a phone call to make. Then, I can relax. I didn't sleep good last night and a good nap after lunch will be nice.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Hello all,

Muggy 73 this AM on the way to w**k

The prayers seem to be working. The fallen rider’s kidneys have started functioning again and although still sedated he is moving his limbs.

I’ve also been much more involved in the Dirt Drags this year due to Grandson’s involvement and coaching a young friend of my son. I witnessed the accident involving the fellow above. He was less than 50 feet from me when he crashed. He should have backed out but didn’t.  I don’t know him personally but Son says this is his 3rd or 4th crash this year. The others were minor. He is 60+ and the bike he was riding was too much for him but he wouldn’t admit to it.

Work, farming and my Folks seem to let little time for anything else. My folks reluctantly moved their bedroom to the first floor due to declining health. We are also hiring someone to check in on them each morning. There is a new Senior Center opening nearby and they will be going there weekdays for lunch and added social interaction.

As Mrs was getting ready for work this AM she chuckled when I said “Only 179 days to go” (She is a classroom assistant with special needs kids)

Best get busy, Chief and the rest of you retarded guys need the SS

Prayers for those in need

Isn't this so typical of that hippie generation on the Left Coast. Paradise The older hippie generation mooching off of the youngsters.  Next thing you know the kid will take off for some exotic location, like Michigan. Laugh

Now isn't this just so typical of the "ME" generation!   Total disregard for family, loss of morals, scoffs at any hint of compassion and good will.  Geez!!!!!!  I will hold back all the comments and questions he had about the area he was in.

(Anyway, I was part of the group the hippie's were protesting about.)

As a result of my VA visit last Saturday they want me to have a vision and hearing test.  They called yesterday and scheduled vision test for today!  Can't complain about wait time!!

Talked with Ray yesterday, hope situation with his sister continues to improve.  We talked a bit about the relocation of 4014, and other stuff.  Had a really nice visit!

Going get ready for vision test.

It was hot and humid already at 7:00 AM, The humidity should go away soon.
I saw the movie Hud last night on TV. A sort of more modern western. I remember hearing about it, it may have won some awards for what thats worth. Paul Newman was the star.
Since I have total contempt for anything Hollywood because of their politics a movie has to be really good for me to say much good about it and this didn't make it.

Do any of you remember it? What did you think of it?

Dennis, I thought the movie was good.  Paul Newman was convincing as a real jerk.  I always liked Patricia Neal too.  I don't like too many modern movies though.  Probably subject matter and unfamiliarity with younger stars.  Last current movie I saw was "Lincoln".  They were featuring a lot of Newman's movies  this week.  I liked The Hustler better.  Used to shoot pool in a hall that looked kind of like that place in my younger days in the East.

Don, good to see you were able to post.  Hope you are having a good day.  Sounds like the VA will do you some good.  I got a note from my eye doctor to come in for a check too and I know I need a hearing aid as well.  Also got my notice to renew my drivers license by October.  Thinking of going to the DMV office in Claremont.  That's where my wife went and it seems to be less crowded.  Wonder if the one in West Covina is still open?  Need to check.

Mid 90's and sunny here today.

I got back from my business trip to Spain last Saturday.  Been getting caught up and de-jet lagged for the past few days.  For some reason the jet lag bothered me more than usual both on the way there and the on the way back this trip.  Brought back some wine, coffee and chocolate.

Just scanned a little of the pot.  It will take a while to cover all of last week.

All for now.

Good Evening All!

Made it to the VA, had the vision tests and screening for diabetes.  Everything came back very positive. No concerns! Big Smile

Maybe I should explain what I am doing regarding the VA.  Last Spring one of our customers who works for the VA, asked if I was a Vet, and am I signed up with the VA.  Well, obviously I am and not signed up.  Then talked to a  couple other people who were signed up and also suggested it.  Since we have a large Regional Center here in Long Beach, I thought why not, if I don't find it worth while or, my previous apprehensions valid, I would just stop. .Nothing lost!  So I proceeded,  so far I have nothing but praise for them!  I have been treated very well, professional treatments/exams, and very personable.  If any of you who are a Vet and there is a VA facility near you, you should consider looking into it!

Tomorrow , I go to the surgeons office, think they will remove stitches and put leg in a cast.  Not looking forward to the stitchesCryingBeer

Got the new OGR today, article re; BNSF was great!  a couple of the Traingneers have actually operated on my layout and been certified.

Oh Yeah, Buckeye,  the Chief told me to be mind full of some of the "funny" ideas that may come up from OHIO from time to time.   I told him "No Problem" that I understand, and would just take them in stride.  (I wouldn't want anyone to think there was any discontent among the participants on the Pot.)  Chief,  also advised me he was planning a  "Etiquette and Social Graces Symposium" during his next Grits invasion.

Mornin' Fellas

Don - the stitches are nothing. When I cut my leg I had never had stitches before and I was very concerned that I would feel them coming out, or worse yet they would have been 'sealed' by the skin. Well none of that happened at all. I could slightly feel them coming out, but looking back on it all you are feeling is the skin tugging not the stitch actually moving. After they removed 2 I worked up the courage to watch them remove the other 8... was actually pretty neat and I didn't vomit or pass out. Thumbs Up

So hunker down buckaroo - you'll do just fine! Heck after they are done ask the Dr for a Dum-Dum - according to Christina Dum-Dums make going to the Dr OK. Wink

Kiddos had their 2 year and 6 month checkups yesterday. They are both in the 50% for height and 15% for weight so they appear to be long and lean (unlike Daddy).

Not much has been going on. Went to Pittsburgh last weekend to celebrate my Father's 66th b-day (he shared it with Christina upon her request). Went to a crafts festival in Columbiana, OH. Got some nice stuff, best purchase was a bench made of a slab of Hickory with hand wrought iron legs. Looks really nice. Was a bit pricey for my taste but the more I thought about it and discussed with TheQ we decided if I didn't get it I would forever kick myself. Big Smile

Hope to get into the train room this weekend to sort out the wiring issue... speaking of which I need to order the rotary switches...

Konbanwa,

I started this morning off with an easy three-mile run and then a weight training workout.  I had to take a uniform to the alterations shop today to have it taken in a bit; that's always a good thing.  Other than that, the day was pretty uneventful.  The wife, youngest child, and I did enjoy a nice walk after dinner tonight.

Don - I'm glad the VA is taking good care of you.  I believe they have made significant improvements over the past few years.

V8/SP RayFife - I saw Hud a few years ago as well and thought it was okay.  As Ray stated, I believe The Hustler was a great movie.  Jackie Gleason was good in that movie.  As for other Paul Newman movies that I like: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; and of course Slapshot.

Sayonara,

Joe

Don,

        Angel

Brent,

Regarding not making a purchase and regretting it, I've got the opposite going on.  Why didn't I just stay home on 8/1?  I didn't realize what I had until it was gone.Sad

Long time no post.  Been busy with work, and also torturing myself shortly after buying the 2010 GT.  If I could go back, I'd cling to that 2007 GT.

I've also been thinking of thinning my collection by getting rid of some of the modern Lionel that's been on shelves untouched since 2003/2004.

Good morning all,

Been sleeping a little later in the morning lately but paying the price because I have to walk later and by then it's getting too hot.

Sad news this morning about a man I knew from our church and our social group who passed away on Sunday.  He and his wife had moved back to this home in Iowa a few months ago.  He was a WWII Army Air Corps pilot on a B29 and flew missions over Japan in 1945.  He was about 92 I think.  He was able to make a veterans reunion in Washington a few years ago after the WWII memorial was dedicated.  We will miss him.  R.I.P. Jim.  God bless you and thank you for your service.

My sister in Virginia continues to improve.  In a nursing facility now and oxygen is down to minimum need.  Her breathing is much better.  They have to build her strength for a second surgery as soon as she is strong enough.

Don, good luck on stitch removal and casting.  Hope it all goes well.

V8, another Newman movie I liked was "Cool Hand Luke" and also" Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".  I didn't see Slapshot.  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was pretty good too.

later,

Ray.

Evening all got home about 3 hrs ago from Charleston, S.C. Did a yankee raid (And never was even suspected as had rebel tags on the car. )down there since I had to go to the V.A. down there as work at this one. Anyway yesterday turned out to be the day from &#!! it was stressful enough for me trying to keep up with the time and having to goto a appointment at 3:15 so about one gave in and went to the V.A. to wait for 2 hrs. anyway got done there and was heading up a ramp to the bridge shown below when a guy tells me I have a tire going flat so no where to stop ( it was about 1/2 way flat) had to go over the bridge and glad I had on star all I had to do was hit the button tell them my problem and they sent someone to change it for me. anyway heres a pic of the bridge I had to go over. Of coarse the flat was on my side Well went to tread quarters to see if they had another tire as some how this one picked up 4 nails and none looked old all looked new. They told me $260 for a new tire. I had I'll let you know went to a Chevy dealer and he quoted me $162 plus mounting and balancing for a total of $188 A lot better in my book and I got a free car wash in the process. but that was done this am as caught them just as they were closing but made arrangements and got it done in about 2 hrs. They also had to go get a tire but gee $100 different and I think a general is better than a yuko or what ever was on there lol. And tread Quarters was getting a general also I believe.

Not much else going on here now is relaxing time.

Home from lake house.  Guess what?  Yes, it is raining here.  Started before noon there.  Took three of the dogs to the vet [met Pam on the way back with Wiley as I had Finn and Lucy].  All OK and got their shots and etc.

Did eat a lot of boiled peanuts while I was at the lake house.  Picked them up while I was at the farm.  Got some "green" ones too.  May boil them.  Love green ones.

Every time I talk to on the phone or see in person my son, my Police or any law enforcement person, the last thing I say is, your most important thing for you is to go home after your shift, be careful.

As far as the perp, hope they shot him.  Saves a trial [where he may get off] and tax payers expenses.
