So sorry to hear of Don's misfortune.  He will be OK, you know how tough them Railroaders are!  Don, will keep you and the team taking care of you in prayer.  Gotta watch out for those steam engines, they can be a dangerous place to hang around.

been busy with work and adoption ministry we are starting in our church. Both require time and effort, but it all runs together...not enough time in the day.  Kids start school today, so that will only add to the running around. Have to run as need to do my morning reading and prayers...will certainly be lifting Don and those putting up with him, I mean taking care of him.

May God Bless,

Dennis

Got a phone call from Don himself about the time we were fixing dinner.  Sounded good considering.  The accident happened yesterday and he said they didn't get his overalls off of him until today.  Had to cut them off.  He said it was his guess that he would probably remain in the hospital until Monday but nobody really knows at this point I guess.  As of now the surgery is scheduled for 1:00PM on Friday.  He said surgeon was too busy today.  I told him that I would stay in touch as things progress.  We should all be hearing more from him when he gets back on a computer.

Frank and Jon, thanks for the updates on D.Baker.  I don't think I have his cell number.  I have his home number but didn't want to bother Kaye until things settle down.  I will be talking to him ASAP but don't want to interfere with family.  Sounds like he did a number on that leg. Angel for good recovery.  Left message on the home phone for Kaye

Wow. Prayers for Don to be comfortable overnight and through surgery tomorrow.

Threshing Bee was great. Lots of steam tractors, and big and small steam engines, including a gigantic Corliss.  Photos later.

Home from lake house.  Don is doing OK for a broken leg the length ways.  Left femur is the one basically shattered.  Putting in plate and screwing bone to it.  He hit the like lower step of the engine when he fell and that did the damage.  The other bone is broken but has been set.  Had hole in his right foot [two stiches] from unknown source.  Think maybe a shoe tack came up through the sole.  Mystery. Has bad jammed left thumb.  He is left handed.

Don this morning.  Finally cut overalls off.

What a happy face.

Surgery is tomorrow at 1 PM PDT. [we hope]

Kay is in for a time when he gets home.  He is not a good patient. Whistling

He may be calling some of you. [bored]  Testing him some phone numbers.

Don is on good spirits considering his situation, talked to him about 4:30 and he told me about the surgery delay until tomorrow. He had just gotten some pain killer and was feeling pretty good. They let him use his cell but signal is sketchy, texting is more reliable.

Don.... You know that I'll get the Chief for doing this to you. Mischief  It might take me some time but the snow cannon, the hurricane mixer and maybe another Roseyville Raid will teach that Rascal a lesson.

If you need a good doctor, I would suggest Doctor 88 be flown out from Baltimore.  He has a great reputation for cutting skin.

Chuck....Make sure you give Don that name of that physical therapist who you bragged upon and made us all jealous.

Heard from Chief earlier (at the lake) that he had received a  text from Don and will be having surgery at 1:00 PDT, sure hope he gets the pretty nurses Thumbs Up  Chief wanted to make sure everyone knew of the schedule.

This might be a good time to stop and say a prayer for the Drs. and Don.  He's going to be in for a long rehab but I know he will give it his best.

Jon, Based on experience, it seems as though they only have the really pretty ones in the "Cardiac Critical Care Units".  Smile, Wink & Grin

Been busy all afternoon working on the Better-Half's surprise anniversary party. RSVP's should arrive tomorrow at our daughter's house and the custom printed invitations on monday. Now if I can just get the printing done on the RSVP's without "You Know Who" finding them.

All packed for the museum tomorrow, will be there saturday as well for Family Circus Day. Some really nice Ringling Bros, Barnum & Bailey displays. They squeezed us out of the area where we did the G gauge circus trains last year, don't know yet what kind of space we have this year.

Just off the phone with Chief, Don's surgery has been postponed until tomorrow, same time.  Apparently the surgeon had a longer than expected surgery today and decided to wait until tomorrow on Don's, has to be tough for Don & Kay.  If I hear anything more from Chief I will post.

Don, this is terrible.  Sounds like you tried to join the birds while on the steam engine.  I do hope and pray that the surgery will go well.  I will try to call you when you get home and feel up to it.  Angel Glad it wasn't worse.  This is bad enough.  Knott's has lost their best fireman and I hope not for long.

News Update:

Leg broken in four places between ankle and knee, surgery scheduled for noon today.

Hhmmmm, a couple of possibilities here:
>maybe still hungover from birthday celebration.
>or maybe a little messy handling coal/ashes and his walker tripped him. Smile, Wink & Grin

All joking aside, Angel that surgery goes well and recovery is quick.
