The temp is 55 with bright sun

These old bones are a little sore this morning, but all is well. Going out for a car wash and gas fill-up later. Four adults with the AC on still say's 28.7 mpg. I can live with that. Gotta start cleaning the train room, club meeting is at my house this Saturday night..S.J.

Good morning all

High in the mid 70's today. Chance for showers Wednesday.

Hoping to get supplies for train layout and actually get to work on it.

We are supposed to meet up with the son and check out a place they want to get married at. It is on the beach. So between that and house work trains will probably have to wait.

Have a great day all

Sun and warm on the north bluff and everything is in bloom. It was so nice yesterday I did not see the cat all day.

SJ, Good thing you have train meets at your place or you would never clean. Laugh
Fife, I drove a new Grand Cherokee last week, very smooth but I thought the steering was a bit too easy to move. Would of felt better a bit tighter but that is just me. The SIL has a 2002 that has been a money pit from the start. You name it he has had a problem with it.

Aloha. Back in the office in a sunny Chicago after the weekend's adventures. Daughter graduated college, moved and is off to her summer job. Searched rentals with grandmother (this is a going to be a long process). The bride has suddenly decided to redo various bedrooms. ($$$) And the dandy-lions that make up my lawn are blooming beautifully. Middle boy is being prepped for his summer job at the Cedar Point amusement park. I'll drive him out Fri. He casually mentioned if I get any letters about his grades to let him know. He can count on that.

Congrats on your new job, Jim

Fife, if you're looking for a small SUV, we've been happy with the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe. Prayers for Alexis.

Good Morning!

55, a mix of clouds and rain at the Jersey Shore.

Yesterday finished the front lawn. Hopefully it will take. If not, Oh Well. Today Doray wants me to powerwash the inside of the big freezer aka, The Shock Box, behind the Ice Cream Shop. Then it is my realxation time and off to school.

Brent: I have been a fan of Bill Dance for years. He is very knowledgeable and likes to make fun of himself. One answer to a letter that makes me laugh everytime I think of it is when someone asked him why he uses a manual steering trolling motor instead of a remote. His answer was that I am clumsy and I will trip over the control!

SPMan, Ray; Angel Hope your wife gets well soon.

Fife: Continued prayers for Alexis. My daughter has a 2012 Explorer. She loves it. Ours is a 2003 with the 4.6 and 139,000 miles. I have no complaints about it.

Redfire, Jim: Congrats on the job.  Lot of the older clean cars with low miles around here come from the Retirement Villages like Holiday City. Too bad most of them are like the K car and Mercury Grand Marquis and not Probes and Mustang GTs. As to aluminum body panels, all manufactures's are using them to cut down on weight. If the body panels are not rusting they are corroding.

Rich: That is a clean K car. Yes, it is second gen. We had a number of them in the fleet. I ran a 1982 Dodge Aries wagon back and forth to work. The kids called it the $500 Daddy Dodge. Yes it had a Hemi! The Mitsubishi 4 cyl. Slowest car I ever had and it got 22 mpg. That car was clean. I drove it 120 miles round trip and never had a problem. Everytime Doray took it it broke down! At around 200,000 it started using coolant, I was rear ended and I was paid $750 for it after having it 4 years.  Laugh Prayers that you get well soon.

AF53, Ray: Yes that trip was around 1985. I think that Dan is about ready to get back into the hobby. Maybe we should sneak into the house, set up an oval in the living room and wait for the reaction from your sister, Linda. It would be priceless! We could tell her that Santa brought it. It was in the bottom of his sleigh and an Elf just found it. Or just act DUMB! We are good at that. Waiting for the package.

Have a Great Day!

Morning all.  Sun is out but not for long per weatherpersons.  More showers.  2 2/3 inches in about on hour.  Some got 2 or more inches.  Maybe no rain late Wed. and Thur..  More late Fri. and into weekend.  Wow.

Off to run errands and then lunch with Town Clerk.  National Town Clerks week.

Removed all the light fixtures in bedroom where layout was.  Rewired some lights in back walk-in closet.  Everything ready for repairing walls and ceiling.

Good morning. It's 64° with 78% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 85°.

I'm going to drive myself insane yet. This morning I'm thinking about installing coupler cut levers on my newest rebuilt GP40. Why? What's so special about it? It was just a piece of junk that somebody sold off AS junk. Why should it be worthy of special attention? Why not the old Spectrum Bachmann GP40? I wasn't even even considering it. My eyes went right to the newest one. Maybe I should give this more thought. Or maybe I should try finding some cheap source of cut levers. I don't know. I'm gonna drive myself buggy yet.

Hmmm... Wal-Mart hasn't done anything to cause businesses around here to close down. Actually, the businesses in the strip mall in Mt Airy are thriving because people come to Wal-Mart then go to the other businesses as well.

There are two ACE Hardwares in Mt Airy as well as 3 grocery stores... the only businesses that have shut down are a poorly run grocery store (the entire chain is now defunct) and Blockbuster (shuttered due to NetFlix).... and the businesses in town are doing great as well.

Brent, That may be the problem in Ottawa. Wall-Wart is now 2 miles away from the strip mall that has emptied out. The strip mall was by the old Wall-Mart before they built the Super Wall-Mart. Hmm

Hello all

A beautiful day here in the Ol' Pueblo. Sunny w/ a few clouds. Supposed to maybe hit 100 next week I think.

Well I got a memory card for the new camera last night as well as some more socks. Here's a photo of my new corner of paradise w/ it:

Need to get an short extension cord for the new clamp lamp out of storage,

Kev, something should look vaguely familiat there...

Beware the little railing pieces that go on the front BTW. They are entertaining.

Regrading new vehicles, I was relatively impressed w/ the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan we got from the motorpool last week. Except for the little black door lock opener/panic button/lighter/hand grenade/ ignition 'key' like thing. More modern 'technology' that didn't need to happen. Oh, and my regular key ring in my pocket sets off the panic buttonBang Head

Also got the Corvair parts in yesterday. Will be working on that later. Fortunately bike is running greatBig Smile

Jim - congrats on the job. And yeah, the MGB had an Al hood that I wasn't crazy about either. Old Land Rovers were all AL bodied. The Brits claimed they never rusted, except the crappy steel frames rusted so bad they literally broke in half. The guys who restore them talk about doing frame-overs all the time. Can you imagine taking everything off the vehicle and then putting it back on, and still having a British made carStick out tongue

Demay - Wiped your e-mail out, sorry. Surprise Please resend.

anjdevil - Hang in there, buddy.

Thanks for all the car-tips, everybody.  New wheels are really gonna cut into the 3-rail budget, but there's always going trackside for 1:1 gauge, which suits Wifey just fine.  As far as potential problems on the new vehicles, big dollar items are covered for the first 5 to 6 years depending on make.  More interested in getting in on the 0% financing.  Really wanted to wait until we moved across the Potomac, but I'm feeling the pressure now.

The temp is 75.

Another nice sunny day, although a little breezy. Got the car washed and gassed, stopped at the bank to refill my wallet, and along with granny spent about 3 hours cleaning the layout. still not done. My old method  of miles traveled divided by gallons used came out to 33 mpg. That's almost double what my truck would have gotten but I still miss it. Banilla for all tonight...S.J.

Most of my day was spent watching TV and working on the newest GP40. Mostly painting and adding some detail parts. It's somewhat hard to see but if you look you can see the coupler cut lever on the pilot and see also that it has a shelf coupler.

Kev you might want to wait and see how mine comes out! The wife keeps saying she wants to go to Chicago. Maybe a road trip is in the future, lol

Well I picked up more screws and wood for the layout but home to late to work on it. I'm going to take your advice lion88roar and put the leg connecting strips in. Hope 1 by works. I'm also going to put more frame around the end legs on the long sections.

I still have not ran my new engine or tested my new controller!

It looks like a few of my things on the bay will sell. That money will go toward the cost of the layout so far. No where near what I have into it but it makes the wifey feel a little better about it.

Good night all

Howdy guys - well it was back to work today.  Lots of meetings and getting stuff settled from the trip.  I have plenty of work to get done, but it is not as bad as I expected so that is good in a way.  Nice chat with SJ tonight and briefly with Charlie, headed home.  Char has bronchitis, so not much sleep since I've been home either.  Oh well, she has some meds and hopes to get better soon.  Can you believe these kids that were found - OMG!  TARDIS is ready, so let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Beautiful sunny day in the 70's here today.  I got to enjoy it on the way to work, during lunch, and on my way home from work.  While I was walking back to my car after lunch, A Chevy SSR pulled into the lot.  When I passed the driver, I asked him why he didn't have the top down on such a nice day.  Didn't get a real good answer....

Well, we've successfully muddled through the two projects today at work that ended up having coinsedent deadlines and not enough time or people to properly get them done.  Bit of a breather now, but we've still got to un-kluge some of the kluges we've done to make the deadlines.

All for now.

Cheif, we have Sheetz stores all over here, there food is Terrible

Slowly "re-grouping" here, some things are happening faster than I expected

Spent the last few nights at the office on an air mattress. My huge warehouse cat, whom, I don't think has ever laid on a bed, got a little carried away in the middle of the night  and poked a hole in it.  Now my back hurts like........ from sleeping on a deflated air bed,,,,,,,,

guess I better get moving on this apartment....

Good Morning...

Another day of sun but with a bit more of the cloud thing happening..we are posta get a 30% of those ol' t'underin'boomers this afternoon...kinda....

Not much going on the train front here..but we did manage to get an operating session...with no pileups, incidents, or accidents to speak of...wonder what ol' Murph has planned for me.....Confused

Good morning all

Chuck I could use some of those Cheerios. Stomach has a little rumble going!

We will hit the 70's once again with scattered showers through out the day. I didn't really like the lake house the son and his fiance have picked out for the wedding but I kept my mouth shut. I know surprising huh!

The wife and I stopped back at a nursery to look at plants. Looks like I will be planting a magnolia tree, mums, lilies, and hibiscus this weekend. Along with installing storm door and painting windows. I hope to get handle on main door through the week so I don't have to add that to the list. I also have E-bay stuff to ship but don't worry "I will squeeze in some layout time"!

Have a great day
