Hello all

Well the Daewoo is nearly back together. Just the intake manifold and some connectors. Yes, we are still at it, can only work on it for a few hours here and there. And we took everything off the engine, only thing we didn't mess w/ was the crank, rods, and pistons.

Got the portable spray booth in today. Looks like just what I need. Perfect size for some of my projects and O-gauge cars and enginesBig Smile

Kev - the 1615 was the only one I never took apart, go figureDunce. Looked and ran well enough that I wasn't in a hurry to open it up. Of course you've prob already ran in more than I ever did.  Got some brush springs I'll send your way at some point. Glad to hear it just needed a really good cleaning.

Dennis - belated happy birthday!

Hopefully we will finish the Leganza w/ meeatballs tomorrow and then some more bicycle work.

Night all

Good morning. It's 49° with 99% humidity. The high will be 75°.

The plan for today is to mow the grass. With all the rain we've had lately it's growing by leaps and bounds and will be out of control if it's not cut soon. I don't anticipate getting much else done today.

Good Morning All,

It seems like it is going to be a nice day here outside of Philadelphia. That means it's time to get out in the yard and do some spring clean up in preparation for summer time grass cutting. We also have T-Ball practice at one, and that is ALL that is planned for this weekend. Looking forward to the quite. Two weeks till York, and as it's me and my Dad's first time I am quite excited about it. It will be a learning experience as we have to register at the door; but we will be there early enough it shouldn't be a problem. Hope everyone has a good weekend! Talk to you all later.

Woke up hacking like a 40 year smoker and I don't smoke. So I must be catching something I don't want. Cloudy and like with BOC Dull Dull Dull out there. They say it will be mid 60s but rain in coming to mess it up as well as wind. I am sure glad we did not go UP this weekend seems they got plenty of snow.  Guess we are going to re-group for the trip at the end of the month.

Bob, It was a good experience for me to take the 1615 apart. I learned a lot and now I got a bunch of your lost dirty Photons to mess around with. Wink

SJ, I hope your better half mends up soon so you can get back to slacking off. Whistling

Charlie Brown, Click on the link at the bottom of my posts, you can see where I hang in San Diego. Almost forgot, the link is only live Tu-Fr 11am to 4pm, Sat & Sun 11am to 5pm(Pacific Time). If you click on the link during off hours you'll see a video of the layout.

I hope my laptop didn't get hurt from all the drool that fell on it. That layout is awesome. If I ever get that far west it will be one of my stops for sure.

Kev ... long story on the name thing but I'll try to be brief but if you have seen my other postings you know that is impossible for me.

At birth my name was Gregory

Shortly there after my dad and his parents had it changed to Randolph so I become a junior.

My mothers side was a little upset about it. So my grandpa started calling me Charlie Brown and the others Called me R.J. which they stated the j was for my middle name Joseph and not junior.

So I guess it is best to call me R.j.

We have a snow rain mix this morning. It turns to all rain this afternoon. It's a good thing we need rain because it is supposed to rain the next five days.

High today 51*

RJ,

Chief has just not figured out that the south lost the civil war yet. So he keeps trying to sell us northerners on Grits. The yanks need to go down there now and then and do a raid to keep Chief on his toes. It is all in fun. Whistling

Temp is 36 with cloudy skies.

RJ if you ever have a meal with the Chief just make sure you know what's being placed in front of you to eat. He has been known to bribe the wait person to sneak Grits on the plate. Granny seems a little better this morning so maybe it was a one day thing. No big plans for today but next weekend will be busy..S.J.

Demay - Was just wondering, what are the locals saying about the little man across the East Sea?  Are they taking him serious?

Buckeye came through town on AMTRAK yesterday, but I missed him. My buddies and I were tracking down a burglar at the time.  Oh well. He said he'll be returning soon.

Aloha. Grey and cold. Might be spitting rain a bit later. The Chief would be proud as I inadvertently had grits for breakfast and here I am still alive. Hope I can do a little outdoor work before the rains begin, but there's a funny smell I want to see if I can track down from the old van - something is burning that shouldn't but I don't see any leaks, anything visually wrong so far... the hunt continues.

Good morning all,

RJ, welcome to the coffee pot.  Regarding the grits discussion, don't be confused.  It is all in fun.  It is an attempt by the Yankees on here to put down a notable rebel in Rolesville, N.C.  Grits is the South's answer to hash browns.  It is cheap and easy to fix and fills you up.  The only thing is that it is pretty bland by itself and needs something on it to taste good.  I like it with fried eggs or even soft boiled which are mixed with it.  They are also good with cheese.  You can put just about anything you like on grits and it will taste good.

We had a nice get together this past Thursday of the not so regular anymore train group that meets at my layout.  We had lunch first at a local restaurant and then came over to my layout.  One of the guys brought over his newly aquired ATSF 3751 4-8-4 by Lionel and we gave her a good run.  Very nice whistle and sound system on Lionel steam engines.

Cool cloudy morning today with a little drizzle too.  Nice for a change.  In a couple of months we will be complaining about the hot weather.  Looks like it is going to be a pretty dry year with very little rain unfortunately.  I might set out some tomato plants this year if the spirit moves me.  The Chief always teases us about all the good things he gets out of his garden.  We always had a vegetable garden in Virginia.  We had good sandy loam soil and you could grow anything in it.  Here in Southern California it is really hard adobe and needs sand to loosen it up.  It's ironic that the Imperial Valley just a hundred miles or so down near the Mexican boarder produces one 6th of all the produce in the country or at least it used to.  Don't know if that is still true or not.  Of course, that is all on irrigated land.

TTOS train meet on Sunday.  Might go to that.

later,

Ray

I'll catch up on the last 14 pages a little later tonight.

Good Afternoon:

46 and sunny down the Jersey Shore.

I had a productive day today. I serviced and rotated the tires on the Explorer. Escort (My wife will not part with her 1999 Escort. Runs like a champ and sips gas), and my GMC Pickup. I then drained the tank, ran the gas out and fogged the snowblower. Chuck, please put the Snow Cannon away! I then detailed the interior of my truck. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I may turn on the outside water, go over the sprinkler system and yard work. The boat will have to wait until after York!

Charlie Brown, RJ: Sorry to hear about your early years, but it seems like your Grandpa was there for you. Good Luck with the layout. My Brother in law, AF53, aka, Ray and I live in Bayville, NJ. If you look at the map we are about half way between NYC and Atlantic City.

Jack: I keep thinking about your son in law, with the Comcast installation, the wire mess, the satellites and I keep laughing. Reminds me of my youngest brother. Laugh

Brutus, Jim, Good luck with work! Just don't take it home or let it eat you up inside.

Chief: Good luck with the Reporter. I hope that she does not twist things around.

DougDG: I hope that you get better soon. I know that they all count on you.

Jeffrey: Look at the bright side about cutting the grass. You get to try out the new tractor.

KevinK22: Hope to see you at York. We are meeting at the Round the Clock Dinner on Friday. You and your Dad are welcome.

Doug M.: I hope the smell is not a big problem with the van. Good Luck!

Fife: I hope the launching of the Yachet goes smooth. A special prayer for you Princess.

SPMan, Ray: I just can't wait for the Jersey Corn and tomatoes to be ready.

Ryan: Hang in there. We are here for you.

Jake: I hope you are feeling better.

SJ: Well wishes to Granny.

RT: I hope you are feeling better. Any Good Deals this week?

Kev: Enjoy the 1615.

Anybody hear from DJSpanky? Wondering how Tyler is doing.

Time to run some trains!

Have a Great Day!

John

All right, Catch up time:

CheapClassics / Mike, If you wan to talk off line send me a PM I am going though a pile of crap my self right now.

Kev, liked the video.  every time I see your layout, it amazes me how nice a lay out can be had in a medium space

Kev, in the video, why the Ore car in front?   maybe I missed the post?

Jeffery, My company recycles PC Boards, we pay 2.00 a pound for them. the shipping wont out weigh the reward, though.  Nice hit on the motors.  you would go nuts in my ware house, just skids and skids of stuff like.  All goes for scrap.  (we have a lot of clients that require we destroy the materials. )

SJ, another KID?   LOL

Well, thats 10 pages of catch up. Guess I didnt miss much.

John, life goes on......

I was in a pretty bad accident last Thursday night.   big concrete wall 1 Truck 0

There is a lot more to this, but its legal in nature and i can't discuss it right now.

I tore all the front end down on the truck today and took the parts list to my buddy (he's a wholesaler, and I'll get the parts at cost) Worst part, the tires were less than 3 months old......  Even though I carry Full coverage insurance on the Truck, I am in enough hot water with the Insurance company in lieu of Thursday's Fiasco, so I'll just eat it.

Any way, that's that, shoulder a tad sore still

I started Packing my stuff today, and the (ex)wife comes into the basement in tears demanding to know if this was really it and is what I really wanted.......   remember, SHE initiated this....... Broken Heart

Okay a update it seems somehow for the chest pain any way was due to my acid reflux even though it wasn't really burning so thats part of it. The doc has ordered a ct scan of my chest where the inject iodine in you. So when thats over we will see still get a little winded but not as bad as it has been but still feel exhausted when my 8 hrs are over. so maybe just need to rebuild after all that I went threw for past month or so.

Well it seems that Hudson 685 ( john ) has taken lessons from RIjack with how to post a post. ( about wore me out by time I got to the end of itLaugh

Any way one of the sets I got last 2 weeks that all came in on same day is a super O set. I had super O when I was young so was glad to see it as I loved the stuff but need some help here.

How do you get pins out of the outside rails that got pushed in to far. I have about 1/16 of a inch sticking out if that. Do you get new ones and some how push these old ones farther into the track? as I cant see how to get them out otherwise. Or do you just solder a wire to the 2 tracks where they join.

Was an okay day at work today. nothing spectacular.

Talk to you all later by way asking same question about super O in the main forum also

Good Evening Everyone!

Nice easy 8 hours at work today and then went over to my son's house to help put in the new fridge. His friend was moving and said take the fridge, stove and dishwasher. Not a bad deal since they are only eight years old and free. Since Sunday is my only day off it's time to unwind and relax for a day. If on;y the Yanks could win one for a change it would be nice.

Ryan - No, I haven't yet but I will do either Sunday or Monday, thanks again!

Kev - Hope you feel better tomorrow, a good night's rest and a good breakfast should do it. If not, repeat the same until you're better Smile, Wink & Grin

RJ - As far as grit's are concerned, I tried them once and thought they left sand in them. Not good!

SJ - Verlander and Sabathia tomorrow. Let's hope it turns into an enjoyable game.

Kevin22 - Have you tried to pre-register? I'm thinking it might save you some time from the line.

RT - Acid Reflux. I have it and my symptoms were a nagging cough and some throat irritability. That was 7 years ago and I've been on Nexium ever since. No problems since either. Good Luck!

DevilRich - Hope you're feeling better soon.

That's about all, now to relax and watch the Syracuse/Michigan game as March Madness winds down. Monday night is the final and my bracket was over last weekend. Another year out of the money. Bang HeadCryingSighAngryNo

Feeding my engineer mouse "blue candy". Oops Took all the peanuts out of the Train Box.  So far the little rascal has out smarted me. Bang Head  If that does not do it, a regular trap with some heated bacon. Mischief

Many years ago I had a couple of mice running around in the old RV I lived in back then. I tried all kinds of stuff in the trap to catch them but they didn't fall for any of it. One day I was eating some buttered popcorn and boy they were both scrabbling and scratching at the cabinet door. They wanted to get at that popcorn! So I wedged a piece tightly into a Victor snap trap and placed it inside the cabinet. I caught both of them well inside of ten minutes!

*

I got the grass mowed today. That's $30 in my pocket. This morning I found an old 3D Pinball game on my old 80G WinXP drive (now an external USB/EIDE data storage drive). I set up a shortcut so I can access it from my start page. It's a 32 bit program and it had a couple of minor hiccups running under 64 bit but I was able to reconfigure it successfully. I played it several times before I shut everything down and took off to cut the grass. We had a power failure this afternoon about 4:40. A large pine tree fell across the road about a quarter mile from here, about halfway between here and the Spillway Park and took the power lines down with it. The power was out an hour and a half. Once the line crew got on scene they had the lines back up in record time. My computer was on at the time the power went out. It took a little while to restart later but it did restart without incident. I guess it had a real mess to clean up as I had been online at the time with eleven tabs open. I did lose a little unsaved information but that was to be expected.

Well it's time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Howdy guys - really nice and warm here today!  My son and I went to see the new Evil Dead movie - it was great!  Later tonight, we took his science experiment and kicked it up a notch outside.  It was a model of a cell and the cell "goo" was required to be hand sanitizer by the teacher.  We poured it all out in a metal pan and lit it up to see how long a quart of hand sanitizer would burn - wow that stuff lit up super fast!  One match!  It burned for about 15 minutes.  There was still liquid left and I think that it would have burned a little longer, but the flames were dying down quickly when the wind blew it out.  That should be a separate experiment all in itself Smile  Don't use hand sanitizer around flames - lesson learned!

TARDIS is ready and we have lots of goodies tonight, including some Blue Moons, chips, rootbeer, and banilla Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
