JEFELECTRIC, your correct.   one of my competitors, is doing 10 years in the pokey for just that.

I TRY to run a clean and legal business. some things do slip through, but at the hands of the seller.

In other news, contrary to whats been happening on the home front in the last week, She calmly advised me that she is refi-ing house so SHE can afford it on her own, and my 90 days to vacate  have been restarted, as un -till the refi is done, she cant afford it with out me...... and cause I am a smart ass Itold her i would leave all my stuff here and just buy it all back at the Sheriffs Sale.....  OK that was mean....

and since i was recently accused of DUI (not convicted, trial awaits ) I am guessing I will be shelling out at least 8K dollars on that mess.    PA state is right, YOU CANT AFFORD IT

so my what was a deposit on a new pad..... is well, now my attorneys and the states

This Month can be over at any time

Yeah, mistakes have been made, but i have learned....   and old guy once told me, mistakes ain't worth making, if you don't learn from them

I know you guys are sick of hearing about my trials and tribulations, but I really don't have any where else to discuss / vent stuff.   I have family around, but i was always an out cast, the black sheep, the guy that wouldn't take a "professional job" and I really am not up to hear there "I TOLD YOU SO"   etc etc etc etc etc etc

between all this and the employee theft issue in February, I am stressed out.  I am not too upset about the home front issue, though....

any whoo.

From what I've seen on here since I joined is there are tons of caring people on here. The rest can ignore the post if they have trouble with it. As for me you have my prayers that things turn around .

You got my prayer for you as well...if you need to vent you can also PM  me..

Well...we managed to clear the tops of the poplar trees off the garage...there are a number of holes poked through and, of course, his van took a hit...the trees were standing in about 12" of water at my other neighbours house...guess what happened...over-saturated ground/ice build up/wind....poof down she went...took the other poplar down with it. Took portable sawmill to work on them....now we got ~230 board feet of poplar wood to muck around with....

I like the weathering on some of the items. Did you do them or did they come prepainted that way?

I did the weathering on the layout, structures, locos and most of the freight cars. Some of the cars were done by their previous owners.

RJ – We lived in Enid before moving here to Japan.  My wife has plenty of family in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, OKC, and Muskogee.  If you need to stand on your layout then follow RT’s advice.  If you do not plan to stand on it then ½” will be sufficient, or if the bracing is extremely solid then maybe even ¼” will work.  Even though you may not need to stand on it, you want to make sure it doesn’t sag in any places.  I’m pretty sure I used ¼” when I built tabletop benchwork for our layout in OK, but my framing/bracing was spaced pretty close together so I had no sag issues and I did not have to stand on it.  If your layout is not very deep then you shouldn’t have to stand on it.  I used 1” blue foam on top of my plywood as that’s all my local Lowe’s had.  It worked well and made doing scenery easier.

Who knows maybe we'll be in Ok at the same time one day. Smile

Thanks for the layout info. I'm thinking I will probably end up with that same foam. They don't carry much for specialty stuff around here.

Jeffrey-Wimberly are those pics you include in your postings your personal layout? If so they look great - would like to see on of most of the layout in one shot.

Yep, those are all of my layout. Getting an inclusive or mostly inclusive shot is quite an order. It's nearly eight feet wide and close to eleven feet long on one side and almost seven feet long on the other side. Here are some photos I took of it some time ago.

I like the weathering on some of the items. Did you do them or did they come prepainted that way?

Brutus, RJ, BOC: Be careful with the storm.

Storms done for now. More rain on the way and still closing roads due to flooding.

RJ: I know what you are going thru with your co-worker. Been there. I worked 40 years for an Electric and Gas Co. Make the best of it.

I plan to hang in there. No real choice jobs are to scarce to quit.

RJ: York is the "Eastern Division - TCA York Meet". It is held in April and October at the York Fairgrounds, York, Pa. It is one of the best train shows if not the largest. You can get more info @ www.easterntca.org and tcamembers.org . People come from all over the country to attend.

Sounds like a great time.

I understand it's illegal for scrap dealers to buy a lot of stuff, yet the crooks still steal it.  I suspect there are enough unscrupulous dealers out there that buy it at lower than going prices if they suspect it is stolen.  They are selling it somewhere.

WRM, as a scrap yard owner, in PA, its a FELONY for the yard owner to buy with out a letter from the city or other governing authority:

Rail Road scrap (spikes, tie plates, rail, rail clips, empty spike buckets, etc,

Sprinkler heads and fire dept connections

Man hole covers and sewer grates

guard railings

Water meters

Electric Meters

Grave yard placards (especially the veterans grave markers, supplied by the DOD)

Catalytic converters, unless its from a dealer or repair garage

Street lamp fixtures and traffic control devices

and it goes on and on.....

Evening all!

Beautiful day here today. 60s to 75. Sunny. Sweet! Might get pretty warm this weekend (85?).

LAZ - No Rain, No Rain, No Rain,.... (we are due for a nice weather Spring York. It has been years.

Lets see - Chief becomes Mayor: (1) obtains Lakehouse, (2) only works a day or two a week, (3) lots of free meals, (4) he somehow moves the city hall Pergola to his back yard, and now (5) he is writin'/signin' city checks - not hard to put 2 and 2 together and get 6 in Rosyville....

The thiefs here are so desparate they are now stealing the brass numbers and brass mailbox plates from homes...a while back the City of Dallas had to go stamp "CoD" on all the bridge railings (particularly the AL ones) as they were being stolen for scrap so I guess they are having to go for easier stuff.

Have a great evening all!

KEV, my thoughts on the HazMat cabinet was that you could sell it, buy a Gun Safe and still, maybe have some cash left over.   Buy you got it home now.  I have moved gun safes before, and never will again.  WHY does every one want them in there basement? Super Angry

I thought about that too Ryan, I will see what I think once Steve drops it off.It is still in his SUV.
It may be too short it is only about 4' high and I need an ammo shelf.. I think the basement thought is it is harder for the bad guys to get them out of the basement but there is also more moisture in the basement. I am thinking of having it in my den.

Brent,

LOL at Boysenberry Saga.  Lost track of that one unfortunately.Oops - Sign  Hang on to that PW.  Don't sell it just to free up space or $$ for the time being.  I am hunting for a 313 Bascule Bridge and Flyer 312 as soon as the $$ becomes available.  Never should've let them go.

been a while since we have had an update on the Boysenberry saga...

Rich isn't blonde... a bit dirty... but definitely not blonde! (sorry Rich - couldn't resist) Hope you kick the dizziness

Doug - that sounds like Christina! Big Smile

Jack - No. I have to get through TheQ's list before I get to work on anyother lists... but mine will be perking to the top soon.

Rich - can't do one loop on the main layout for PW stuff. I have too may opperating cars and such, hence the desire for a small layout so people can operate them. Just running out of room to have a layout for the kids' Thomas stuff, a PW layout, and then the main. That is also why I am leaning toward building an under-the-bed layout for the kids, probably put it in Matthew's room since his room is bigger than Christina's - or I will build them each their own but in such a way that they could be mated together in the future...

John - Yes - that is why I am struggling with what to do. I have so much stuff that I don't need it all, but the PW stuff I do have is in really good condition and I didn't shell out top dollar for any of it. I know I could easily turn a profit, but to what end? I will free up some room, but will I kick myself in the future for letting it go?

Afternoon.  Ran errands with Wifey.  That was after doing Town stuff and signing checks this AM.  Rained off and on.  No bad storms as of yet.  Looks doubtful.

Doug M, we had steam engine come to the Town 3 miles from the farm.  Saw it even after every one else stopped steam.  Then went to a switcher.  East Carolina Rail Road.

Got some more running around to do.  Then hit the hay early as turkey hunting tomorrow [season opens].  Driving to the farms.  May hunt here early next week.  FIL's got them too.

Rainy here and 50.  Next week for YORK weather looks kinda good lower 70s Thur-Fri. with chance of rain.  Gotta dust, wash kitchen floor, and vacuum house today.

Laz - has wifey been out of town? Wink

----
Mornin' Fellas

Really need to get the sunroom wall work done this weekend as next week is York, then Saturday TheQ has a function to attend, and the following weekend my folks are coming to visit their grandkids (they no longer come to visit their son).

Laz has reminded me that I need to get the tractor tuned up for the pending jungle growth... Sigh

Looking forward to York next week. Can't wait to see the gang again.

----
Thinking of unloading some trains. Since I have gone Legacy I'm not sure I want to hold onto the PostWar items I have collected. Problem is what I have I REALLY like - else I wouldn't have bought them. Was planning on building a small layout for them to showcase the opperating accessories - milk car, dump car, corral car, etc. UGH...

Good morning all,

Had fried eggs and taters with sourdough toast for breakfast (no grits).  Normally use egg beaters but indulged myself for a change.

Today is one of my bi weekly days for taking dieuretics so have to step lively between bathroom breaks.  Wife needs to go to get new glasses sometime today and will go with her.  She has a driving test coming up before the 25th so she wants to get her peepers right before then.  I have to get my license renewed this coming October.  First in 5 years.

Governor (moonbeam) Brown is over in China trying to get them to buy in to our high speed rail project.  Might as well, They have all our money.  Anyway, I will be lucky if I'm still around when it's completed or if I am won't want to ride it.

Joe, you're right!  I make better Italian food than they do and I'm not even Italian. (Neither or they)

Took a good walk yesterday afternoon, uphill and down.  It was a good test for my COPD.  I felt like that lady in the Advair commercial with the elephant following her around.  Blood oxygen level was still very good when checked after I got home though.

later,

Ray

Waiting for Wifey to get ready.

BOC, Barry, You are lucky that no trees came down on your house.

Brent: I would keep the PW Trains. You may regret it later. The small  layout sounds like a Great Idea. I am thinking of a small layout with just Pre War.

Brent:

Maybe have a line dedicated to PW?  You can run non-TMCC/Legacy on the same track.

Or just save them for Christina & Matthew to run .... I'd say when they get older, but Christina has shown that she can run 'em pretty well.

Raining here in Central NJ, windy and nasty.  Yesterday was the worst and I'm not liking the direction this is going.  I already called the neurologist and awaiting a callback.  I'm not going to be out of work for a month, I'm already getting cabin fever.  [banghead)  If I had a layout and trains at hand, I could clean and lube them all!!  Close up work is ok for me, so far.

Brutus Thumbs Up glad you are ok.

Rainy here and 50.  Next week for YORK weather looks kinda good lower 70s Thur-Fri. with chance of rain.  Gotta dust, wash kitchen floor, and vacuum house today.

Laz - has wifey been out of town? Wink

UGH...

Aloha. Stil grey and 30s, but not raining. TGIF! Spring hasn't sprung yet. Beginning the bride's 'birthday weekend' with a brunch. Then I'll take her antiquing - a good excuse to look for overpriced tinplate. Smile, My daughter is planning to surprise her by driving home and picking up the other college kid. 5 hours each way for only a day home is something you do when you're young! Big Smile

Ivor ran last night without complaints. Jeffrey, love the photo of light on the rails from the other day. Brutus, glad you're OK with the storms. BoC, glad the trees didn't hit you. Buckeye's WVA trip sounds nice. Why do I hear banjos?

Did this describe you when you were young? http://www.theonion.com/articles/toddler-junkie-immediately-hooked-on-looking-at-tr,32025/    Big Smile
