Good evening all,

Nice day in SE Indiana.  Took it easy.  Got some stuff down from the barn loft to hopefully sell to a second hand dealer.  If I get some money, it will be worth it to get it out of the house.  Kev, at least Indy car drivers know how to turn left and right, but their best races are on the ovals.  Alonso won the F-1 race this weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good afternoon

ROY: Nothing is ever easy.  that's a lot of fence, too. Nice you were able to have most of it pressure washed off.

RAY, it isn't that WARM here!!!!

RJ, nice space you have there. as you have found out, long trains and sharp curves don't get along well.  At least you tested your plan on the floor and don't have to tear up bench work.

gonna be doing some grilling tonight.

I just woke up from a nap. and I honestly think some times naping makes you feel worse than just plowing through and going to bed earlier

gotta run

Beautiful Day Outside!

If the weather is close to this at York it's going to shorts all the way!

Did a few hours outside today. More leaves, again, then cleaning the fish pond, leaves, algae etc.......Had a nice visit from HudsonJohn last night as we ran trains and he also delivered to me my latest box that was delivered to his house. How it got there I'll never know Confused. It's an early 1920's steam locomotive and tender. One of the first produced by American Flyer to use electricity.

Chief - Congrats on the upcoming wedding.

Later all.

Morning all!

York is just days away. I'm all set to go! Looking forward to seeing the gang!

Got the flowers done yesterday. Having our very long back yard fence (cedar 245 feet) re-stained. The guy pressure washed the inside Firday. He will wash the outside Mon. I have been hitting it with a wire brush to get the remains of the last stain off. By accident the previous stain was actually a stain/sealer and it dried to a dark glaze vs the color we wanted. The good news is after 4 years the pressure washer knocked 97% of it off. I am getting the last 3 %, but only on the inside where we see it. The part facing  the alley we do not care.

Banks - so sorry about Buddy. Our mutt is over 12 years now. She is doing ok so far but at this age things can turn fast.

It will be another nice warm day here and we will probably grill out tonight.

Regards, Roy

Here are some pics of the man-cave where the train layout will go. In the first pics you can see the empty area. In the next few pics you can see my guesstimated layout. I have learned the train does not like the 031 curves at the end away from the bar, I may need to take them out and run straights or go to a larger radius curve. On another note. I'd like to take out the 027 long straights and put in 0.

Morning all.  Back from Sunday School.

Yesterday was early to rise [3:50 AM] and late to bed [11:30 PM].  Went to the farm turkey hunting.  REB turkeys. Out smarted us.  Yank turkeys are easy to kill. Whistling  They watched us put out decoys and then go hide way before light.  When it came to fly down from their roost, they flew straight away and into my other woods.  We tried various places calling all day.  Nothing.  Then we went to the roosting area early, waited until dark and not turkeys.  They did not come back to the roosting area they used that night before.  Bang Head

Temp is 38

Laz those York 70s look good to me. We had  a good time at last nights club meeting but my lower back is sore from standing so I expect a lot of pain at the end of each York day. But I'm a-goin. The guys here are hyped and ready for next week. We plan to stop at Horseshoe Curve on Tuesday so if some of you that have been there recently want to advise it will be welcome. I was there years ago just after they tore up the fourth track and in those days you just parked, climbed the stairs and watched trains. Yes I know that has changed. I still don't know what that small stone structure up on the curve was used for.  Have a great Sunday...S.J.

Been a great weekend so far. Yesterday we had opening season for T-Ball, which consists of a parade escort from the Wissahickon Police & Fire Dept. from the Ambler Train Station, all the way up to Pickering Field where all T-ball, Little League, Softball, and AA Ball is played from now until the first weekend of June.

I was skimming over your post when I did a double take on Pickering Field. We have a community here called Pickering with an elementary and high school bearing the same name and naturally the sports field there is called Pickering Field. The football and basketball teams are called the Pickering Red Devils. Last time I checked they're class 2A.

Bright sun but cool on the North Bluff. They say mid 70s by afternoon so it better get with it from here. That will be great I have plenty to do in the yard. The grass is turning green and all kinds of stuff is popping up in the woods. Smile

A good true ALL AMERICAN race last night with a lot of left hand turns. Bush deserved the win. That Girl managed to survive drove from 42nd to 28th and finished in front of JR. in 29th. So they had to interview her after the race. I don't recall any other 28th place driver getting an interview, EVER!!! Laugh Maybe they will start interviewing Back Row Joe Nemechek next. Whistling

I think those overrated INDY cars will be looking for some action next month if spring ever gets here. Darn shame that only eight out of 27 drivers are Americans. No wonder I only watch one of their races a year and fall asleep when I do.. Zzz Ick! 25 or 30 years ago it was a different story. Tongue Tied

Prayers for all in need and have a great Sunday. Angel

Good Morning All,

Been a great weekend so far. My boy did great. Three at bats with two of them being line drives right past the pitchers mound. He played first, and third base. What a difference a year makes. Then after the game went to friends house. A good time had by all.

Today low key. Mass, chores, and who knows. Four days till York. Can't wait. Have a good day everyone.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Murphy!Happy B-Day

*

Good morning. It's 58° with 87% humidity. There's a slight chance of rain. The high will be 80°.

Layout cleanup is going well. I can actually see the layout through the clutter. I should be able to get more of it put away or disposed of today depending on what it is. Some of it is tools that need to be sorted into their particular places. I may get started on the repainting of some of the FP7's today.

Konbanwa,

It’s a little after 6:30 PM now and we’ve had a nice Sunday.  We went to Sunday school and church this morning and then relaxed in the afternoon.  I had a brief nap, watched some recorded UFC fights, and then played some baseball with the older son.  We’re finishing some leftovers for dinner tonight.  I also spent some time today starting my first attempt at making my own bacon.  We bought a small section of pork belly yesterday and today I covered it in salt, pepper, and honey and placed it in the fridge to cure.  After seven days I will take it out and smoke it.  We’ll see how it goes, but at least I know what went into it.

Fife/AF Ray – I’m just hoping the Yankees can play .500-ball until a few more of the regulars get back into the lineup.  The Orioles got them last night.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Murphy!

Sayonara,

Joe

Good evening all,

It was cool in SE Indiana today.  Reffed 2 soccer games this morning, an American sport.  Rested.  Went to local historical society dinner where we listened to a program about Carl Fisher, one of the founders of the IMS and a major player in getting the Lincoln Highway (US 30) as well as the Dixie Highway built.  Saw where Princess was 28th tonight after barely making the show.  Hmmmm.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening.

Went to the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport New York. Saw a wrecked P-40N that was brought up from Florida. Apparently it was involved in a midair back in '45. Sat in the swamp for about 40 years afterwards. Several other aircraft were also there. Models of the S-E-5, Sopwith with Snoopy in it, Fokker DVII, and a model of the Spad XIII that Rickenbacker flew.

Then went to the aviation museum in Elmira New York. There I saw an ill-fated father to the Skyraider. Also had a German "Salamander", an A7 Corsair II, F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, A-10 Thunderbolt II, F4 Phantom II, MiG 21 and an Avenger.

Getting late, should head up soon.

Night.

Got the layout cleaned up a little more today. Also gave my H24-66 and U30E645 a good run. Four of the FP7's are parked on the shop track.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Spent most of the day at the PA RR Museum in 4 - 45 minute training sessions.  They like to stretch things out.  Started at 10:15 AM and lasted to 3:00 PM.  That shot most of the day.  8 to 12 would make a lot more sense to me.  Did learn a few new things, but not a days worth.  Weather here today was great.  Sunny with some wind and a high of abut 65.

Good afternoon all,

Late checking in today and send prayers for those in need.

Our dishwasher is acting up lately after using the new power ball type dishwashing soap.  It is prepackaged and designed to dissolve in hot water.  We have a spring loaded door that holds this dishwashing soap and is suppose to release during the cycle.  Lately though the powerball stuff is getting stuck in the holder and sometimes prevents the door from opening.  It gets sticky and gummy when partially wet/hot.  Don't know what's happening but probably go back to regualar dishwashing soap.  Also plan to run some stuff through the machine to dissolve hard water deposits.

Watched some of the Masters golf tournement today.  Tiger got a two stroke penalty for something that happened yesterday late in the round.  I think he made an illegal drop after hitting into some water but don't really know what happened  The officials didn't  notice it yesterday and did not confront him until this morning.  Some guys say that under the old rules he would have had to withdraw from the tournement but the rules have changed so now he stays in.  Probably be a lot of controversy if he wins. Anyway, I'm rooting for Fred Couples.  He's overdue.

later,

Ray

Jeff, I was also thinking, I joined the forum about a year after you, on the MRR side. Your layout and photo taking skills have evolved into master pieces. Back in the day of the old "Key Chain" camera to where your at now is fantastic.   and as with most of the people on here, I am continually impressed with how you do SO MUCH with so little.

Just making do with what I have. I collect all manner of old and junk model railroad stuff that I can get for little or nothing. Never know what can be useful on a project. One of my locos was built with parts from eight different manufacturers and not all of them were made to work together. That's one of those cases where if it doesn't fit cut some off and hit it with a bigger hammer.
