English training for Yankees.

Florida

A Florida senior Citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the Dealership. Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-95, pushing the pedal even more.
Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a Florida State Trooper, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120.   Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this!" and pulled over to await the Trooper's arrival.
Pulling in behind him, the Trooper got out of his vehicle and walked up to the Corvette. He looked at his watch, then said, "Sir, my shift ends in 10 minutes. Today is Friday.  If you can give me a new reason for speeding - a reason I've never before heard before - I'll let you go!"
The old Gentleman paused then said: "Three years ago my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back!
"Have a good day, sir," replied the Trooper!!!

Georgia

The owner of a Golf Course in Georgia was confused about paying an invoice so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help.

He called her into his office and said, "Y'all graduated from the University of Georgia and I need some help.  If I wuz to give yew $20,000 minus 14%, how much would you take off?"

The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everthang but my earrings!"

Louisiana

A senior citizen in Louisiana was overheard saying, "When the end of the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana."

When asked why, he replied, "I'd rather be in Louisiana 'cause everythang happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the world!"

Mississippi

The young man from Mississippi came running into the store and said to his buddy, "Bubba, somebody just stole your pickup truck from the parking lot!"

Bubba replied, "Did y'all see who it was?"

The young man answered, "I couldn't tell, but I got the license number!"

North Carolina

A man in North Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait.

A passerby studied the scene as he drove by, and was so curious he turned around and went back.  He asked the fellow what the problem was.

The man replied, "I got a flat tahr."

The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?"

The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither!"

Tennessee

A Tennessee State Trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65.  The trooper asked, "Got any ID?"

The driver replied, "Bout whut?"

Texas

The Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage from his pick-up into the ditch. The Sheriff asked, "Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch?  Don't you see that sign right over your head?"

"Yep," he replied. "That's why I'm dumpin' it here, 'cause it says: 'Fine For Dumping Garbage!' "

Y'all kin say whut y'all want 'bout the South, but y'all never heard o' nobody retirin' an' movin' up North!!!

Temp is 46

We took a 260 mile round trip today. Granny wanted to see her only brother. And her widowed brother-in-law lives near by so we stopped and visited with him too. On the way home we stopped at a casino. Granny left with a +20, and I left with a -9. Not too shabby for three hours of entertainment. Banilla is ready for the thingy...S.J.

Kev, it a nice feeling, while I really can't say I changed the world, My grand Father designed the spring return mechanism for the automatic center punch, which is now used as a glass breaker by police and rescue personnel.  he designed because he was tired of having to pound on a center punch..

He  designed and Manufactured those goofy hammers with the screw drivers in the Handle. If you have an earlier one, it will be stamped MADE IN USA at GAM manufacturing, Lancaster, PA. They are now made in china.

He did a ton of design work for KD Tools, which I think is still in business in Lancaster, PA, Also at the time primarily manufactured at GAM

I will never forget the smell of cutting oil when I was a kid and would goto his machine shop with him. Every time I get a whiff of cutting oil, the memories of that place are like it was yesterday.

My eyes are still aching but nothing like they were this morning. My vision has cleared quite a bit also. The right eye is a clear as it's going to get but the left is still blurry and very light sensitive. It si however much clearer than it was this morning and I'm not having to depend so much on large print. Hopefully my vision will be back to normal by Sunday.

Time to call it a night here. See y'all tomorrow.

40's and cloudy today.

Chief - I think I met all of the southern guys that you wrote about when I lived in Kentucky!

Kev - I've worked with several engineers and designers who were not familiar with the manufacturing floor or the machine shop, nor were interested in being so.  Hard to explain things to them sometimes.  One guy needed a left hand thread, so he instructed the machinist to "use a right hand tap and to tap it from the back side of the piece" Indifferent  And in the imortal words of Forrest Gump "that's all I have to say 'bout that".

All for now.

Ohayō,

The sun is shining, but I’m not sure about the temperature.  I’ve been in the office for a few hours and I’m hoping it warmed up a bit.  I need to finish some things in the yard and need warm, dry weather.  I made the older boy wake up early today because he was supposed to have a doctor’s appointment for a sports physical, but as I was parking the car at the clinic they called me to tell me the doctor was called away and needed to reschedule.  I will take him back in a few hours from now.  I have plenty of tasks to finish at work so I need to get back to it.

KevinK22 – I hope your youngest feels better soon.  I grew up in Shenandoah, which is near Hazelton and Pottsville.  It’s about two hours NE of Philly.

Jack – Don’t pollute the new guy’s head with your anti-Yankee nonsense. Zip it! Since a bunch of old Yankees can still outplay your Sox, what does it say about them? Laugh

Chief – I thought the jokes were funny.  I agree about Florida; it’s not part of the South due to all the Northern influence.

SJ – I’m glad you enjoyed your road trip.  I guess you can count that as a training drive for York.

Sayonara,

Joe

Haven't heard any hootin-n-hollerin so I guess we can assume that Rich, Ray or John weren't the powerball winners in NJ. Sigh

I did the Little League coaching thing for one season while in the AF, got so disgusted with the parents, civilians since we lived off base, didn't sign on for another season.

Got a lot done today. Cleaning up the patio, pruning/repotting some plants and moving others around. Gonna be real busy the rest of the week. Got some baking to do tomorrow for Sunday and finish up my Easter Train for Friday and Kid's Club on Saturday. Gonna be kinda lazy for Easter Dinner, ordered a Honeybaked Ham because I know I will be to tired for lots of cooking Sunday. Expecting 15 people for dinner, SIL, Daughter and the Munchkin are at his families house this year, so it will be close friends that we consider "extended family".

Boy do I feel like a dummy, found a good price on-line for some ammo last Sunday night but wanted to check shipping reg's before ordering. Went to place order on Monday, you guessed it, that price was only availble on the weekend for available stock and now everything is sold out(everywhere). Bang Head Dunce

Hello all,

A day early this week, Good Friday is a holiday for us. One more Fish Fry tomorrow. I'll take this opportunity t wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER in case I don't get back by then.

Ryan, sorry about your news. I’ll add ya t the  Angel  list

Jeff.........glad your eyes are better

Fife...sounds like you enjoyed it  just a bit

V8....how's the leg

Kev. Nice job on the control panel. I’ve broken in a few engineers myself. I had one fresh out of college ask me how we get the wire in the conduit. Same one asked how we knew what size wire to use. This was an electrical engineer with a brand new PE stamp. Another one I worked with listened to my complaints on how the control panels were built. The next set came with every suggestion I had made implemented. It should be a requirement that they spend at least a year working in their area before graduating.

If there are no unexpected issues three weeks from today I'll be heading to YORK after work.Big Smile

Prayers for those in need

Mornin' Fellas

Been very busy as of late. Sad

ZeroExport - been there, done that. It isn't an easy decision to have to make but once you sort it all out and determine you'll be better off then it is just wading through the quagmire till the doc is signed sealed and delivered. Once that happens you'll come to terms and in time your life will start to recover. God Bless and like has already been posted - we're here for you.

Just found out two days ago that friends of ours are getting divorced as well. I'm not going to post their dirty laundry here, but I will say - if you aren't happy with your marriage either work it out or get out. I never understood the desire some people have to make their partner feel like they are a lesser person than they.

Fife - great news on The Princess! We need to catch up... been too long since we've spoken.

Jack - rough times for you bud! WOW! You are always the one to find the right words for us, and find ways to put life into a different focus. You are a blessing to all who know you. Prayers for you and your family with all you are going through.

Buckeye - you need a new assistant who knows how to plan your calendar better...

KevinK - nice to know there is at least one other intelligent sports fan on this board. As long as you don't like The Eagles you are fine in my book. Go Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Steelers!!!!

Looking forward to Sunday. Christina seems to understand a bit about The Easter Bunny. I asked her last night now he gets here and she said 'Hop!' (she of course cannot say HOP without hopping - so darned cute). She gets really excited when you ask her what The Easter Bunny is bringing her too - 'CANDY!' (Yeah great - just what you need... sugar!)... Laugh

The put temporary tattoos on the kids at daycare on Monday. Christina's will not come off when we wash her arm... kind of bothersome. She likes it and when you ask her what it is she sings 'Tat-toooo!'

Matthew is still eating like a horse! Growing quite a bit too. We think he has a mild case of collick (sp) but it seems to be getting somewhat better. We've noticed that he handles different formula brands differently.

Good morning. It's 48° with 89% humidity. The high will be 70°.

My eyes feel much better this morning. The left one still twinges a bit and is still a little blurry but it seems to be improving. No plans for today.

This mornings photo rather matches my sight about now.

Him and I have some other stuff to do like crush his can and take them to the recycle place and he is bring Lexi out with him so she can spend a day or two here with us. We will run some trains you can bey on that.

Chief and Jeffery, you can say what you want BUT I know a lot of people that move to the great white north / upper Wisconsin to retire. SO there! Laugh as a matter of fact I will be helping two of them with building their cabins this year.

Morning all!

Been a busy week so no time to post or catch up.

Jeffrey - glad you are feeling better!

Not much going on. Finished a little construction project adding some footers to a wall that was losing soil underneath the original foundation due to water. Added the footers and then formed it up and poured a new foundation under the old one and then added some soil and rock. Brand New!

Re Chief's post on Texans - didn't know anyone knew I got caught?

Nice sunny day today!

York is just a few weeks away!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning! 39 and partly cloudy.

Some more yard work this morning and then it is off for my weekly trip to Mom's. When I am done with the firewood, I should have enough for at least 4 years. More showed up yesterday.

Brent: Collick: Been there with both of mine. How did you do with the BMW?

Our Haz-Mat Team impressed the State Evaluator last night. I take the backseat now and let the younger guys go for it.

So far a nice quiet day!

Perry County I believe. My younger sister has a home just inside Little Buffalo State Park on what seems to me a pheasant farm. Last time I checked they had several hundred pheasants there. They're easier to deal with than politicians.

Temp is 35, with a little sun now & then.

Joe yesterday was the shake-down cruise for the new Escape. We both gave it an A. More than enough pep and very quiet, comfortable. Granny can get in and out easily. My favorite car though was the old big box Grand Marque, you could drive it for hours and not get tired. Oh for the OGR guys we had poach egg on toast and grapefruit this morning. No major plans for today...S.J.
