Good evening all,

It is warm and cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Reality will come back tomorrow with more rain and temps in the 40s.  Spent the day taking down Christmas items and the tree as well.  Not much else going on.  Took the "saucy wench" out to Chili's last night.  First time we had a nice meal while not on the road.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

DennisW,

                Happy B-Day

Charlie,

I was watching your YouTube video of the new Conventional Classics 726 with the Madison cars.Thumbs Up Lionel did a much better job reproducing the 726 this time around compared to the Century Club version from 1997.

Got the 2426W in the mail today.  Condition wise, it's a perfect match to my 726.  Whistles great with a mellow but loud sound.

Hello all

Sitting up here in the kitchen to get online. The signal in our unit is fairly weak and we haven't invested in the booster yet.

Pretty cold this weekend in the Ol' Pueblo. Too cold to finish painting the bike frame:(

The hardtop definitely doesn't like cold weather w/o the lower shrouds and thermostats. The cooling system seems to work too well, something I'm not used to after starting out w/ VW's. Engine was barely warm after being run for 20+ minutes a couple nights ago.

Jack - I think it's time to just invest in some 2 X 8's and cinder blocksStick out tongue All my furniture has either been been cheap or free so it's hard to fathom, but then you're marriedWink

Chief - glad to hear you're doing better

Dennis - happy birthday!

Kev - thanks! and nice find on the ore cars!

Selling off my last gun. Been in a friend's gun safe for 7 years now. If I ever get another it will be an Enfield replica. If it does load down the barrel I'm not interestedStick out tongue I find all the AR hype interesting as it is not that great a weapon. I know as I trained on the originals. Were NOT accepted as released. But I guess some people think they look cool.

Will see if the transformers came in today.

Good morning all,

Another cold morning (34) outside.  Going down to 27 tonight they say.  Maybe I better wrap up some exposed water pipes?  It won't stay that low very long, probably just before dawn.

Chief, good luck with change in meds.  Don't need anymore knee locking.

Did not get out to the train room/garage at all yesterday.  Too cold! but I might venture out today if the spirit moves me.  I still have my artificial tree up in the house and running my prewar Lionel train around it.  No hurry to take it down but probably will by next week.  I'm also still playing Christmas music in the train room that I taped during the season.  I never get tired of it.

Ray

Ray......probably you need to do nothing with the exposed water pipes for that temp for that short a period of time..  But to be safe, and if they are garden spigots, just do what snow country folks do.

Shut off the cold water feed (spigot) inside the house, usually located at or near the wall where the cold water feeder pipe goes through the wall or foundation to the outside wall and the outside garden turn off/on spigot.

Then open the outside spigot and let it drain and drip until empty.

Leave the outside spigot open until it is not still leaking water.  Any residue water sitting in there won't be enough to freeze, expand, and split the pipe.

If the outdoor spigot continues to drip slightly because the inside spigot is not closing off completely, you may just want to let it drip for the few hours the temps are below freezing.

That's part of "winterizing here.  Hope this saves you from wrapping the pipe.

Morning.  Foggy and real warm.  Suppose to have burned off by now. Sad  Getting ready to go to Raleigh Mayor's Dad's funeral.

Got a new Lionel NS diesel with Legacy ordered from Nicholas Smith Trains [first order from them].  Got a hint from a post on OGR forum that the engine was there.  Hope to have it "in house" and running by middle of the week.

anjdevil2

Foggy up to 60F today.  Feeling a little better.  Took my FloVent and Levaquin before work, had to eat, now with agida...Bang Head

That has been the med of choice for my Dr for my colds, pnumonia and bronchitis.  Took two and a half weeks worth.  Suddenly joints [especially knees] starting "locking up".  Too much Levaquin will do that.  Why I have had to switch to another med.

See Sir. J is having to get a different dog sled.  Good luck on your search and buying.

KEV, all there is down east is black soil [dirt is soil out of place Wink].

Hope all are having a good weekend.

It's an overcast 51 this morning. BUT the real January returns tomorrow with much colder temps. I must give a sad farewell to my beloved Ford Ranger as it has been sold. Granny has trouble getting in and out of it so it was time to get something more comfortable. Our club meet is tonight so this it for today. Brutus is in charge of the Banilla...S.J.

Good morning , 50Degrees but will be sleet by night fall. Tongue Tied  Almost the same as with BOC.

Not a lot on the plate today, wifey is home.

My friend Tom came over yesterday when the grand daughter was napping and picked up his post war New Haven 2242 and the KW that I fixed for him. So we did trains for about an hour. He was telling me he is looking at buying 1,495 ac. in the Alabama black belt. A stretch of the state that has good black dirt. If he gets it I will be heading down there to check it out,, should be fun. Chief, have you ever seen BLACK DIRT???  Hmm

I sent in my TCA app and the check two weeks ago but I have not got anything back yet, but maybe York this year?

Bo. That is just how it went down, I am in the clear and Ryan is out of luck testing them for me. Wink The signal looks great. Yes

8N, when you do get that ALCO done you will need to post pictures. So now you will have the ABA black bonnet set. cool!!! Big Smile

Brutus, I hope Char gets better. I wish I was close to anyplace that had a train show. Sad

Laz, as with the Bears, there is always next year. Indifferent

Wow, Jeffery looks like it is never going to stop raining by you. Storm  I sure wish you could send DougM and I some of that.

Like Chuck, I am going to spend some time outside as long as it is warm. I was so busy yesterday I forgot to get the mail so I think I will walk up there and get it. That will make a little over a mile of a walk.

 Later.

On the way home, I'll go via the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge to Ewing and drop a deposit on the Lionel NJ Transit set.  I think I deserve it.  Then off to pick up my clearace Christopher Radko glass Christmas Orniments - like of the '50's style - at JC Pennys.  $20 for like 6 6" and 10 3".  Excited?  Oh, yeah!!

Got my W2 yesterday...it's amazing on how you (can't) live on less than 17K a year.  Especially in New Jersey..... Bang Head.

Good morning. It's 69° with 100 humidity and light to moderate rain. There's a fair chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. The high is projected to be 78°.

Another sleepless night. It's safe to say that I'm in a really lovely (read that as bad) mood this morning. God help anybody who comes around knocking trying to sell stuff door to door. They're not supposed to do it but some people don't check the laws for this area or just don't care. The word 'NO' doesn't seem to mean anything to some of them. Those individuals get introduced to Bertha. They understand her with no translation needed and are suddenly in a real hurry to make a hasty exit! But enough about that.

As I was saying before I got side tracked  on sales people, I couldn't get to sleep last night so I sat up all night watching movies I've seen a bunch of times hoping that I'd get bored and fall asleep. No dice. I even watched '2012' and 'Unstoppable'. Those two watched one after the other should have been a surefire cure for insomnia. But it didn't work.

No plans for anything today. Guess I'll just take it as it comes. It's more rain today. According to the weather guesser it's more rain clean through to Thursday! That doesn't help my mood any. The lakes coming up and those folks living lakeside are starting to think they may be in for real trouble. I'm safe enough up here on my hilltop thirty some feet above the lake. At eight feet it'll be in one of my neighbors home. At ten feet it'll be in another one and at twelve feet my father will have water in his great room. Hopefully they get the flood gates opened enough and that won't happen. The folks downstream from the dam could have a problem though. Last I heard the 'Little Sandy' creek was up over ten feet and I can hear water roaring over the lakes spillway from here, half a mile away.

High 50's and mostly cloudy here today.

The black bonnet F3 B-unit came in at the LHS today.  The Canon T3 came in at Staples yesterday.  New toys to play with.

I got the 4-6-2 steamer opened up the other night.  Without side rods, it runs smoothly.  The smoke unit even works!  I'll give it a good cleaning and a new traction tire before it goes back together.

97 Probe - I found a 1995 catalog on e-bay.  It got here yesterday.  It looks like somebody pieced together a train out of that catalog.

Brutus - I was hoping to make that train show tomorrow, but it looks like work is getting in the way.  Maybe we'll be able to make it on Sunday.

The mechanical work on my dual motered Alco B-unit is done.  I'm at the body work stage.  Life in general has gotten in the way of this one.

All for now.

Okay - 2nd try to post as it hasn't worked today for me?  There was a big train wreck a few miles from my house today, but looks like BNSF has it under control.  It was almost all the way into Imperial Mainstreet, which would have been really tragic!  Family went out to dinner tonight at a new Chinese/Thai food place - awesome!  Best Thai food I've had in years - drunken noodles with seafood and my lips are still burning, yum! Nice chat with the guys.  Depending on how Char feels tomorrow, we will go to the WGH Show at America's Center.  Should be great, sure hope she feels better as she has been fighting a cold for a few days.  TARDIS is ready - let's go!

Happy Birthday Dennis!  Happy B-Day

Spent much of the day installing relays and signals in Maryville.  Going to try to finish up tomorrow.

Sounds like some of you guys got a good deal on some RMT cars.  KRM, did that story line above really work?  If so, very smooth!

I've been staying up to late, so its time to hit the rack.  Here a picture of one of the bridge signals that finally got installed.

Again, Dennis, Happy Birthday!
