VICTORY!!!!  One squirrel jumped right into Finn.  Finn had him, he bit Finn, Finn turned aloose, grabbed him back, got bit, turned aloose, grabbed back, got bit and turned aloose.  Lucy grabbed him and shook him hard and that was it.  Wiley came in as back up.  Finn got a bloody  nose but is fine as he took the prise and ran around the fence showing it off.  He finally came to my command and gave up the prise.

Doug, a train rat.  Pretty good.

Aloha. Winter arrived last night with a smattering of snow and ice. Back to being cold too but not too bad. Quiet weekend. Tackled the FAFSA (free application for federal student assistance). It's like doing taxes. Listening to football in the background.. Now to the trains. Check this one out.

Afternoon gang!

Well the crud is finally starting to subside. Yesterday was not a good day and I thought it might be coming back. Thinking about taking a couple days next week to rest up. Had to work too hard last week to meet some deadlines.

Son is headed back to school today so it will quiet down here. We'll miss him and not miss him at the same time Mischief.

Sunny and cold here. Below freezing last night as winter came roaring back. Cold for rest of the week and several nights below freezing. We will run out of firewood tonight so hopefully feeling good enough tomorrow to go to the local wood yard and pick up a bit more.

Watching Football and taking it easy.

Regards, Roy

Good morning all,

Another cold morning (34) outside.  Going down to 27 tonight they say.  Maybe I better wrap up some exposed water pipes?  It won't stay that low very long, probably just before dawn.

Chief, good luck with change in meds.  Don't need anymore knee locking.

Did not get out to the train room/garage at all yesterday.  Too cold! but I might venture out today if the spirit moves me.  I still have my artificial tree up in the house and running my prewar Lionel train around it.  No hurry to take it down but probably will by next week.  I'm also still playing Christmas music in the train room that I taped during the season.  I never get tired of it.

Ray

Ray......probably you need to do nothing with the exposed water pipes for that temp for that short a period of time..  But to be safe, and if they are garden spigots, just do what snow country folks do.

Shut off the cold water feed (spigot) inside the house, usually located at or near the wall where the cold water feeder pipe goes through the wall or foundation to the outside wall and the outside garden turn off/on spigot.

Then open the outside spigot and let it drain and drip until empty.

Leave the outside spigot open until it is not still leaking water.  Any residue water sitting in there won't be enough to freeze, expand, and split the pipe.

If the outdoor spigot continues to drip slightly because the inside spigot is not closing off completely, you may just want to let it drip for the few hours the temps are below freezing.

That's part of "winterizing here.  Hope this saves you from wrapping the pipe.

Jack

Thanks Jack, but our house plumbing is not like what you describe.  I have no independent shut offs between the house and the outdoor spigots.  Anyway we dodged the bullet last night.  It only got down to 33 degrees.  Not quite as cold tonight.

Morning all.  Sunday School and then CVS for the daily meds refills.  Now to the Box for some work.  Going to be 76 degrees today. Cool  No wonder folks are sick.  Then a wine and cheese thing for Human Services with Wake Co. Legislative Delegation from 4 to 6. Confused

Finn and Wiley almost got a squirrel that jumped from the back pecan tree.  That is Lucy, Finn and Wiley's thing.  They tree them, I go out and clap my hands, squirrel jumps from limb and usually hits ground or a close ceder tree.  This time Lucy was inside and the guys ran right under where the squirrel landed.  Squirrel made it to a roll of wire and ran inside.  The two guys surrounded it and tried to get it out.  Squirrel made out and to a close shelter post.  Now Mr. Wiley is really "turned on" to treeing suirrels.

Bo, great breakfast you had there.  Yanks are deprived of grits. Laugh

Now to the Box.

Good morning all,

Eggs and grits for breakfast.

V8Vega, that's cool.  Always have liked those small sporty cars, but have never owned one.  With my 6' 3" frame I never felt all that comfortable in one..  Always had to kinda squeeze in, if you know what I mean. Nice looking though.  Yes

Joe, I hope your package gets to you in good order.  Two months is a long time to have to wait.  Sad

Well off to work on the railroad.  Perhaps I'll get something done today.  Bo  Smile

Good morning. It's 46° with 100% humidity. Weather today is rain and isolated thunderstorms with periods of heavy rain thrown in for variety. The high will be 55°.

It's after 7:30 and still dark with this heavy cloud cover. Weather radar shows some very nasty stuff moving in our direction and really I wish it would go somewhere else.

No plans for today. I'll probably just watch some movies or some documentaries and listen to the rain hitting the roof. No layout work planned and right now I really don't care.

Konbanwa,

Our Sunday is almost over here, but it has been a relaxing one.  The kids and I went to Sunday school and church this morning.  The wife wasn’t feeling so well and remained home.  She is feeling a bit better now.  I had a  2 ½ hour nap this afternoon which is not typical for me, but since I was awake most of the night doing schoolwork I needed it.  Since the wife is not well, we had simple things for dinner tonight: sandwiches and cereal.  I will spend the rest of the evening reading the paper.

Yesterday, I took the USPS tracking number Trainworld sent us to our base post office.  It turns out the package was placed on Space Available status to come to Japan which means it’s on a boat and can take two months to get here.  I’m not sure what type of shipping service Trainworld used, but I paid for Priority Service.  The only way items usually end up on Space Available status is when they are shipped via ground or Second Class so I’m not very pleased with Trainworld right now.  Of course, they could have specified Priority and the USPS folks could have erred.  I will send an inquiry to Trainworld shortly.

Charlie – Thanks for sharing the videos and photo.   I expected to see SJ holding a police arrest board in that photo, Wink but the SJ button is pretty cool.

Harold – I hope things get better at work for your wife.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good evening all,

Brutus, although it got pretty chilly and there were some overcast skies, it appears we missed out on the nasty stuff you'all got in Saint Louis.  It's suppose to be cold and sunny tomorrow in NW MO.

V8Vega, congratulations on the purchase of the "new" vehicle.  From your handle you must be a "car guy".  Do you buy cars to restore/fix'em up and then sell them?  Just interested in what attracted you to the 95 Honda Del Sol VTEC.  Years ago I enjoyed restoring old tractors.

Green97probe, thanks for posting the picture of your 726! Very nice indeed!

Chief, nothing like a free meal.  Glad to see you are starting to feel a little better.  I noted you've purchased a second NS model with Legacy.  Which model is that?

Well didn't get down to the train room at all today like I had been planning.   Did get some errands done.  Bought the wife a new set of dishware while I was out.  It was needed and she is pleased.

Hope to get to the train room tomorrow.  Still working on relays and signals.  Good night everybody!  Bo  Smile

Howdy from Saint Louis where it is raining and freezing - bah!  Char was under the weather, but my son and I went to the train show for a couple hours.  There were some neat displays there and MTH and Lionel had their displays that I previously saw last April at York.  The lego display was super cool - loved the halloween and superhero stuff Thumbs Up  The prices were all pretty sky-high on the O gauge stuff, but we did have fun looking.  Time to watch Frankenweenie - looks great Smile  TTFN and the Tardis will be ready shortly, so beacons ready!

PS - 8NT, sorry I missed you!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I can hear the wind coming up as a storm is coming toward us through Texas. Radar shows it to be a mean looking thing. We have a 90% chance of rain tonight and another 90% tomorrow. Looks like the rain will continue all through the week. Will it never end?

Here's the current radar image.

Nothing was done on the layout today. Too darn tired to even care.

Time to get out of here before the storm hits. See y'all tomorrow provided we still have power and cable.

Do need in the future look into maybe getting some O-31 curves as have the straights that are needed for the set. Also trying to find which transformer went with the set or was that just a separate purchase back then you got all but the transformer as I can't inmagine a transformer fitting in the box unless its a little 25W type maybe.

RT, PM me I have 031 postwar O gauge Lionel and AFcurves I do not use because I am on 027 profile track so I may be able to help you out and you are welcome to it.  I just need to dig it out. Also what year is you set?

Check here it may be of some help.

Evening all see the Sunday Photo Fun got the correct name on it again. Yes Not a lot going on here tonight about to head to bed as been a long day.

Hoping to start buying some wood for framing and get my first 2' x 12' stretch done with plywood and the indoor outdoor green carpet will but a 9' x 12' section and let the extra hang down in the front till I get ready for the next section. Plan to build like 2' x 12' section at a time. and just take my time. as when done it will be 8' deep and 12' wide.

Got my 6467 with original box in today so now have 2 6467 and one box but that now makes my 2265WS complete set with set box all in original boxes. Do need in the future look into maybe getting some O-31 curves as have the straights that are needed for the set. Also trying to find which transformer went with the set or was that just a separate purchase back then you got all but the transformer as I can't inmagine a transformer fitting in the box unless its a little 25W type maybe.

Why don't we ban alcohol

Would'nt bother me but only problem is that it would'nt  work.  They tried it before and all they got was Al Capone.  As for tobacco, I smoked for many years and only quit 5 years ago.  When I started it was unAmerican not to smoke.  Now we know better but if people still want to do it, good luck.  I am living without it now just fine though, thank you.  As for vehicles, not ready to give that up yet.  No room for a horse.
