Good morning all,

It is cold again in SE Indiana.  Temps back in the 20s.  No snow, which is good.  Did not have to drive today.  Doug M., i have walked many years in your shoes with FFASA.  Do not miss it in the least.  "Once Upon a Time" was good, but sad.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning.  Sunny and real warm.  Cloudy west of here.  Rain too.  Should not make it down east until after dark when we are on the way home.  20 degrees cooler tomorrow.

Debating on which rifle to take.  .17HMR or .22 Mag.  Probably the .22 Mag.

Hope everyone has a great week.  Thanks to all the workers as you help my SS. Wink

Later.

good morning every one.

I tried the Welbutrin and had an allergic reaction to it (felt like I was having a heart attack)

Just gonna have to do it.     I don't smoke in the house, which helps, but i smoke in my office at work, which more than make up for not smoking in the house,, especially on a slow day. Wife won't allow me to smoke in her her new car, so when we go out some where i make her drive.  little things here and there add up.

I like Jeff's Idea of just letting them in sight.  I think the anziety of none being around for a while would drive me nuts.

About the Pall Mall non filter....  a friend of mine's dad smoked three packs of those suckers a day, up to the day that he died,  since he was like 14 or some thing and lived to be 98...  go figure

Konbanwa,

Well, it snowed for about six hours.  After about two hours it started to stick to the roads; the grass and sidewalks were already covered.  I spent a few minutes outside pelting the older son with snowballs.  He hit me only once when I was walking back into the house.  Unfortunately the snow turned back into rain and it is already starting to melt.  The base closed early today and if the temperatures drops overnight I have a feeling we’ll have delayed reporting tomorrow because all the slush should freeze.  Hopefully the roads will be safe enough for me to run in the morning.  It’s just about my bedtime now.

Ryan – I never smoked, but I used smokeless tobacco for a solid 15 years (probably longer since I used it off and on during Little League baseball) and then decided to quit once our first child was born, which was in 2001.  I quit for about two months and then after 9/11 I was deployed for six months and I started again during that deployment.  I threw it away before hopping on the plane home from the deployment and never used it again.  Now the thought of it makes me Ick!.  My father had been a smoker (non-filter Pal Mall) for over 30 years when he quit – that was about 30 years and he is now 81.

SJ – That set sounds great.  I hope Charlie can photograph it sometime.

Bob – Stay warm.  I hope all is going well.

Sayonara,

Joe

Hello all

Sitting up here in the kitchen tonight. Lunch did not agree w/ me today so I slept for a while and then woke up around 3AM. About 22 deg F in the Ol' Pueblo this morning. Fairly chilly for us.

I don't smoke, but I can tell you nobody is trying to quit around here.

You know, SJ does kind of look like Walter...

Doug - looks like Z scale. Would be fun to have a set some day. Put together by a bunch of sadistic retired watch makers I thinkStick out tongue

Too cold to continue painting the bike frame or work on the car. All outside now.

Kev - should be able to pick up the transformers and switches today, place is closed on Sunday.

Ryan, I smoked, quit and started back due to a friend pushing them at me while we fished [which was a lot back then].  Took a trip with Wifey [who did not like for me to smoke] and stayed gone a week.  Didn't have a cigarette the whole week.  Came home and have never had another one since [17 years ago].  It was the right time.  Oldest daughter smoked a lot.  I gave her the funds to buy the meds and she quit several years ago.  Go for it.

Need to outlaw Dodge Chargers.  Two couples [both with young kids] killed in wreck in near by county.  Estimated speed 90 miles per hour, hit big pine tree, hit abandoned brick house and burned.  Sad.  No  one shot in the last 48 hours.  HUMMM

Off to the farms down east tomorrow.  Cutting some more deer shooting lanes and path to new stand area on a creek.  Later, shoot some of those pesty squirrels that have been eating corn from the deer feeders.

75 yesterday and 70 today.  Rain coming in tonight and high Tues, will be 50.  Ouch

Sleep tight.

Having a crappy tech day.  New screen protector didn't work out on my reader thingie and now it won't charge, hope I didn't push on it too hard trying to get out the bubbles?  It might need to charge up though.  I hope it's not broken, as I have barely used it.  Grrrrrrrrrr......

Tardis is ready, so let's go - someone else should probably drive though!

Ryan: You can do whatever you put your mind to. I smoked twenty-three years. I was soming two and a half to three packs a day, menthol. When I decided to quit I just put them down and didn't pick them up again. There they were just sitting on the shelf, an open pack with the lighter sitting on top and a full carton behind them. They were there if I wanted them. And anytime I wanted to smoke I just found something else to do. After two weeks I didn't want them anymore. That was in 1994. After a year I gave the carton to a neighbor who smoked. I didn't use anything to help me quit. Just did it cold turkey. You can too.

Didn't get anything done today except some movie watching. Had dinner with my father. Meatloaf, collard greens, black-eye peas, cornbread. Didn't even touch anything on the layout today. I just have no interest in it right now.

Weather tonight is 50% rain, up to 100% tomorrow.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

40 degrees and rainy. The temp will be 20 by morning. My free ride at the train show ran out this morning. I Bought a 1948 Lionel 027 set # 1423W with a 1655 engine and whistle tender three cars and the set transformer with boxes for a hundred bucks. No set box though. Price may be a tad high but it is very clean and runs smooth. The rest of the day I just Laz'd. Banilla will be ready for the Tardis gang...S.J.

Ryan I was smoking 3 packs a day I went to my doctor and asked him for welbuton sr ( antidepressant) I with his instructions quit after 10 days and kept taking them for about another 2 months I have not had a cigarette since Oct 25th 2003. But you have to want to to do it just saying is one thing but really wanting to is another. look at it this way if you smoke 2 packs a day thats about $280 a month thats a premium train set in 3 months and conventional train set ( cheap) or engine ( better range ) in one month. Just look at it as what you can buy with that money which you would enjoy more.

Pat, Kevin & Jack, Chief, etc,

Guess I am lucky to have the doctor I have.  he's a younger guy 30 ish? seems to know his stuff, AND gives me a NICE cash discount (I don't have insurance)   He doesn't farm me out, other than blood work. don't preach about my smoking and drinking (although I would like to quit smoking this year)

He actually flat out told me, "You can do what ever you want, just dont forget where my office is, and keep paying your bill"   LOL

Ryan, It is up to you and DON"T LET ANYONE TELL YOU IT CAN NOT BE DONE! Once you want to, just walk away from those smoke sticks. I told my wife when I was going to return to work from a layoff in the 80s that I was going to quit the day I went back because no one would know if I smoked or not. She said NO WAY,, Ha ha, that was 26 years ago. Wink Put it in your head and do it. A man can! Not sure about a woman, the wife will not even try. Sad

Ohayō,

It’s finally snowing!  I woke up this morning to go out for a run and at that time (0545) it was just raining so I went back to bed.  About 30 minutes ago it started to turn to snow and now it is coming down nicely.  Unfortunately, the wet ground is slowing down the sticking process, but if it keeps coming down like it is now we’ll have good coverage in about an hour or so.  My wife was still a bit ill this morning so I decided to take the day off; I can do some work from home.  But now that this snow is falling, I think the kids and I will be out there after lunch enjoying a snowball fight.

Bo – Yes, two months stinks, but we are somewhat used to long shipping-waits out here.  I’m more concerned with the amount we paid for shipping for it to end up in this status.

Aloha. Winter arrived last night with a smattering of snow and ice. Back to being cold too but not too bad. Quiet weekend. Tackled the FAFSA (free application for federal student assistance). It's like doing taxes. Listening to football in the background.. Now to the trains. Check this one out.

Jack, I know you are kidding about the chief being "fired", but that is exactly what my Doctor of 31 years did to me! Sent me a letter saying I should find another doctor since I wouldn't follow his advice. Pat, I agree, take control, they don't have a clue..... I did not get "fired" but I quit everything they had me on 2 years ago and my tests and I am better today than then!  I stopped taking Coumadin, blood pressure and Cholesterol meds . They interfered with our low carb diet. I now have a doctor that under stands the diet. And no health problems.

By the way, you do know you have to dispute a credit card charge within 60 days. Ha ha ,, come on Pat,,,, don't you know by now Jack Knows EVERYTHING!  Smile, Wink & Grin  Wink

Evening guys.  Fridays layout time was a bust. After an hour of looking for my electrical tools, I said the heck with it and watched TV all night.  So, Sat morning, while getting paint, I picked up a new set of crimpers.  Got home guess whats right on top of the work bench ? My crimpers...  go figure.

My high level of organization stinks.  I hate it, but I can't keep a flat surface organized.  I have tried and tried.

But I did the 120 volt power feeds and power lights wired in.

maybe some clean up tonight yet.   I did manage to get two coats of paint on the kitchen and dining room ceilings today.  I didn't realize how bad they were, looks brand new. I also got a coat of kilz primer on the kitchen and dining room walls, they were a DARK almost dried blood maroon color.  WOW!!  the bright walls make a huge difference the rooms...!
