Sorry - come on guys, let's all calm down for a while and just have a nice cuppa and think about YORK in April and Old Mills by the fireplace.  I am happy to report that Char broke her fever finally and took a turn for the better.  It's a good thing she had that flu shot, because otherwise she might have gotten much worse.  Overall, we are doing really well now.

Got a new TCA magazine and also a flyer from the Ozark Division.  I need to contact TCA and get a copy of my current card or something for April, as I can't find one they sent me the last time I renewed?  Or do they not send a new one each year now?

Single digit lows, sunny during the day with about 30 degree highs for the past couple of days.

V8 - A bit of automotive trivia for you - the TR3 engine was based on a tractor engine.  It is said that they had good low end 'grunt' but not much top end.  I had a Spitfire for a while.  Fun car.  The swing axle rear suspension taught me all about 'tailing throttle oversteer".

Brutus - We missed you, you didn't miss us.  My wife and I got to the train show about 1:30 on Sunday.  Bought a book, traction tires for my 'new' 4-6-2, and a MKT medalion that was a Post cerial giveaway.  Got 'thrown out' of the MTH booth for mentioning an orange bag too.

Evening all, Well I broke down and bought Standard Catalog Of Lionel Trains: 1945-1969 Seems to have a lot of what I always want to know about post war trains like what years and what was in what set.

Brent agree I have always felt when they 1 stopped parents from being able to give a wake up attention getter spanking but not to extremes and they took god out of the school is when all this Bull started. I feel we wouldn't have half the problems with a lot of the trouble maker/lazy youths that you see so rampant sorry to the good ones as I'm not including you in this but there more bad than good from what I can see and take the dang cell phone/what ever other type of electronic device that they can text or what have you with, from them especially in school. end of rant sorry stepping off of soap box.

Many schools are now issuing e-readers because they are cheaper than issuing books. I tend to agree with this. There are schools around here where they issue an e-reader, and some even laptops, and some both, when you start middle-school, then high-school. They then make the text books and assignments available for download to the various devices. If a child loses their device(s) or damages them the family is responsible for replacing it. Pretty good controls in place too that help keep track of it all, so far very few reports of fraud, etc - Not sure if the kids turn them in after the school year or if the keep the devices throughout their schooling.

As for cellphones - depends on the child. Some are responsible, others aren't - it happens and IMHO it starts at home with Mom & Dad. Oh - and all schools in the area ban their use during school hours, unless there is an emergency then they can use them in the presence of a teacher/administrator.

I had to be at work early today; nothing major is going on, I just had to cover some things for the boss.  I am enjoying a quick coffee break now to write a brief post.  The weather is nice and cold, and there’s a possibility more snow may come tonight or tomorrow – I hope so.  It’s time to get back to work so I can take the wife out for lunch.

Jack – I would write the letter and post the comment.  Even if one person reads the comment and decides not to buy from them, then you helped someone out and affected their business.  Trainworld refunded me half the shipping cost so I am pleased, even though the package still isn’t here.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.  My take home pay last year was a miserable pittance.  I have a daughter in college and trying to support her, even in Florida (to a certain extent).  I work long miserable hours and my commute is ridiculous, by my standards. 

I was told I should go on food stamps, some kind of federal or state assistance and the state will take care of my medical for my daughter.

I can't and won't do it.  Like you, my father's mother side can be traced to the Mayflower II.  My family is dotted with those that has arose to make, protect and defend this great country.  I have 2 nephews in military service and a brother serving in hostile territory.

Those that leech off the system and steal from people like Ryan should be racked like the old days.  There should be a hand up and not a hand out. 

Ryan, it absolutely sucks that you have to go through this.  I feel for you.  Make the right changes, don't panic and the ship will right itself and you will be better off for it.  There are honest people around, some times they're just hard to find.
