MOUNT CARMEL - Talking with a friend about a pink toy bubble gun got a five-year-old kindergarten girl in the Mount Carmel Area School District labeled as a terrorist threat, according to an attorney.

The incident occurred Jan. 10 while the girl was waiting in line for a school bus, said Robin Ficker, the Maryland lawyer retained by the girl's family. He would not identify the girl or her parents, but gave this version of events:

Talking with a friend, the girl said something to the effect “I’m going to shoot you and I will shoot myself” in reference to the device that shoots out bubbles. The girl did not have the bubble gun with her and has never shot a real gun in her life, Ficker said.

Elementary school officials learned of the conversation and questioned the girls the next day, Fickler said. He said the girl did not have a parent present during the 30 minutes of questioning.

The result, he said, was that the student was labeled a "terrorist threat" and suspended for 10 days, Ficker said. The school also required her to be evaluated by a psychologist, Ficker said.

Good Evening All,

Nice day today, got up to 59.  High tomorrow is suppose to be 36.  Finished taking down outside Christmas decorations also.  My big purchase today for the train room was not, well very railroad like, but something I thought I should have on hand.  Yes, a ...

With some of the stories I've heard/read about  I figured it would be best to have an extinguisher close at hand in the event of a fire.  It may be a little over kill and I hope it is never needed.

Well I got the call for supper. Kinda late tonight.  I'm hungry!

John, I think pretty much the same way about trying to get as much life out of a car as I can.  The most I have ever got though was 204,000 miles.

Hope everybody had a good day!  Bo  Smile

Don't worry. It'll be when you don't have it that things will start happening.

P.S. My dad just sold our Chevy Scottsdale to a salvage yard today. The guy there said that there are trucks from 2003 that were in worse shape than the Scottsdale, which is from 1988. He may keep it for a little while since it was so good.

Chief !! What the heck goes on here us rednecks are supose to be the best gun handlers.

Three people including a retired sheriff's deputy were wounded on Saturday at a gun show in North Carolina when a 12-gauge shotgun accidentally discharged as its owner was taking it out of its case, state officials said.

The incident comes as the country debates gun control and the rights of gun owners after a man armed with an assault rifle killed 20 first graders and six adults last month at an elementary school in Connecticut - the deadliest of a string of U.S. shooting sprees last year.

Saturday's shooting occurred when Gary Lynn Wilson, 36, of Wilmington, North Carolina, approached the entrance of the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh to have his personal firearm inspected.

The shotgun fired as he removed it from its case, according to a statement by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, a host of the gun show.

Two patrons of the gun show were injured - a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman - as was a 54-year-old retired Wake County Sheriff's deputy who was working at the show. None of the injuries were life-threatening, the statement said.

"They all were struck by birdshot from the gun," said Agriculture Department spokesman Brian Long.

The incident coincided with a day of rallies across the country by gun rights advocates who say the right to own firearms is under attack from President Barack Obama's proposals to reduce gun violence.

On Sunday, gun control advocates plan events at houses of worship to demand more gun regulation.

The North Carolina gun show will go ahead as planned on Sunday, but no private gun sales will be allowed and personal guns will not be allowed on the property.

Do you know any of these. Hope there okay now

That movie isn't worth the disc it was burned on. I saw it, hated it, threw it out.

I wasted no time in deleting it from my DVR. Definitely NOT a keeper.

Random thoughts... You talking to me??

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean one should always speak so freely.   Tell that to your friend.

What happened to the money I gave you for dancing lessons...?

???   What money?? never even got poastage. I did offer to sit with you.

A hobby is for fun.  CTT is my clubhouse.  I'm not going anywhere else.  Good hope to see you and the others at York.

Brent is my friend.  We will walk together at YORK. I to hope to see him there as well. I don't have any problem with him.

Paradise are good.  I've needed to take one from time to time.  Set one up for March. Yes

RockIsland --- Tap tap tap.

Good evening I am not quitting or going anywhere.      Yeah, why would anyone leave a place where friendliness and generosity is repaid by sarcasm and a place where someone can derogate others and it is okay? How much more fun can one have than that.

Made it to 52 on the North Bluff today. Took the truck to town to wash off the salt before anymore is put down.

Train News:   My Friend Mark,, and yeah I have friends, came over and we built the 6’x10’ layout addition bench work. Now I have to paint it and get the grass mat then we will set the legs under it in a few weeks.

Bo, same here as in your post. It seems in the Midwest O Gauge three rail has little following and being in a rural areas don’t help. So I too have got much help from these forums but I have left the Facebook social networking to those who want it. I hope you do okay with the circuit protection.

Chief, I got a large new shipment of secret stuff today from Mark too. Whistling  Beware of e-mail trash talk.

Fife, good to see you have got past posting nothing but Tap,Tap,Tap. Too bad Brent quit, I have never had a problem with him. Teach him to get a tougher skin, like you have as you walk York.

Jeffery, So glad you are up and running again. Yes

SJ, You are correct. Wink

I smell the rank smell,, and feel the cold breath of hatred at my back. Ick!

Red Tails, on the other hand.................

Anyway, very fun day today. Went to Sayre. County Band wasn't like it used to be, lets just say that. Sister agrees.

Picked up a Lionel gondola that was repainted for the Lehigh Valley. Nice color and graphics.

Anyway, the best part of the day is that NS's 1068 was at the Sayre Yard today. It was just idling with a Dash 8-40C and ES44DC, but still very cool to see it. Would have been more fitting if 8104 was there.

Afternoon All.

Great day at the museum yesterday, although I did crash big time after a quick supper. Motive power was all Atlas, a couple of Chessie/C&O GP-15's in a lash-up and a Santa Fe U-23B. They shared time so I could switch them out about every hour to hour and a half. Thumbs Up

Absolutely gorgeous out right now, blue skies and 85*, although they have issued freeze warnings (25*) for tomorrow morning. Grumpy

John & Jeff, Angel for your respective Moms.

Rich, Did you get all the pizza boxes, burger/hoagie wrappers and Beer cans cleaned up before the family got home. Smile, Wink & Grin

Torrey Pines Golf Tourney starts on the 21st, wether is supposed to be a 10 all week.

Forgot what else I wanted to say. Sigh

Oh well, guess I'll go back to the Barrett-Jackson Auction. Wow$$$$Wow

Good Evening:

Very productive day. Serviced both the pickup and the Explorer, took all of the outside Christmas decorations down except for the lights and the tree on the porch. That is for tomorrow. I just got done bringing firewood to the crib on the porch and inside the house. Now time for dinner and run the trains.

Jonadel: Hope to see you at York!

Chief add my son and me to the list going to York! I think that AF53 is going too.

Jeffrey, Glad that you have power.

Bo, I usually get around 250,000 on my vehicles before I either scrap them or give them away. My Company 2006 Dakota had over 185,000 on it before I retired. I get my money's worth out of my vehicles.

SJ, Looking forward to seeing you and Charlie at York!

Have a Great Evening!

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 50, but the cold is coming.  Spent the day shoppin with the "saucy wench".  Mostly groceries, but did score the latest LEGO Creator home.  It is a small cottage, but only $25 so not too bad.  Sorry to hear Brent has left us for now.  His adventures with the Q, power tools and the adoption processes were never dull.  As others have said more eloquently, this is a gathering place of friends who share a common interest.  I would like to think all who have been and will be here have benefited by the association.  Now....if I can just get the Chief to appreciate that fine American sport of soccer, all would be wellBig Smile  Speaking of appreciation, Jon, I noticed you do not have the fine Hoosier state colored on your map.  A trip here during the month of May to visit the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" would definitely be worth your time.  Just an idea.  I have some more chores to do.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all,

Nicer weather here now.  Warm for the next week.

Vacumned the pool yesterday and it looks like the filter is not doing it's job.  Just recirculated the dirt.  We cleaned the filter recently so don't know what's wrong.  Suspect I might need new filter elements  Have to look into that.

Chief, guess all those redneckers are rushing to the gun shows  before they have to get background checks in the future.

Jeffrey, glad you got your power back on.

Bought a load of chicken bre3st on sale that I need to cook or freeze.  These are the large half bre3st.  The boneless skinless varitety I can cook in the microwave but these are pretty large so I think they would do better in a conventional oven.  My wife has an old receipe for oven friend chicken.  Might to that one.  I have been doing the cooking for a while to give the wife a break but I'm running out of talent.

One of our regulars for running trains has been on a cruise playing in a band.  Must be nice!  He probably should be back by now.  Have to check up on him.  Another one of our group is still grieving over the recent loss of his wife.  Prayers for him.

Well, time to get with the program for today.

See ya later,

Ray

Jeffrey, I've read the Apple IIe was launched 30 years ago this year!

You read right. I have two of them since I picked up the one my parents had. The first one I bought in 83-84 had stuff on it not available  on production models until several years later. Both are fully operational.

Good Morning All,

Slept in a little bit this morning.  It's a beautiful morning.  Sun is up and is going to get up to 55 today.  Got a couple chores to do and to run an errand.  Going to pick up that fire extinguisher I said I was going to get to keep in the layout room.

fife - hope those engines are repairable!  It's a nice "clubhouse" too.

Lehigh Valley 2089 - hope the concert goes well.  We have a nice rail yard (BNSF) in St. Joseph.  Which railroad has the yard in Sayre?

Blueberryhill - Naps are a good thing!  Does that dining car have Frosted Flakes as well or just Cheerois?  Wink

blownout cylinder - it seems like an unusal winter so far we have had only one real snowfall and a couple of light dusting.  Very little moisture.

Jeffrey - enjoy the Edgar Allen Poe.  Hope things kinda quiet down in your neigborhood.  No more big storms and crashing trees.

Jack - enjoy the day.  Are you going to work with your trains today?

Prairietype - Coffee with ice cream in it?  Actually sounds like it could be pretty good.  Will have to try it!

John - that is a lot of miles.  I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee that just went over 100,000 miles.  I hope that hobby shop is able to make it.  I wish we had one in this town.

Chief - do hope the gun show goes well.

cnw1995 - what kind of trains will you be running?  Hope maybe once you get that skywriting plane set over the layout you'll share a photo?

SJ - that is a wonderful size layout.  It's probably a lot of fun being a part of a modular group.  Hope the show goes well!

Jon - ok, now I understand the map.  I kinda thought it might represent places you had travelled to based on the statements "So many roads, so little time.", but I wasn't sure.  Documenting on the map your travels is a pretty cool thing to do.

Have a great long weekend everybody! Smile  Bo

Jonadel: I do not see Pa or NJ colored. Maybe a trip to York?

It's been 7 years since we've been to York so maybe this spring would be a good way to celebrate my wife's birthday weekend Thumbs Up  We just truly enjoy the history of that whole area and would like to explore even more, it's exactly 1000 miles from our driveway to the York fairgrounds, not bad.

The map you see are the places I've visited on my Goldwing, hope to add a few more states this spring.  Another boring day of weather here in the valley today -- 74 with clear skies Cool  I think I could used to this.

Aloha. Coldish and grey but the bottom really drops out weather-wise tomorrow night.  Looks like a few days of zero temps. Working at church this afternoon and tomorrow. The bride is going out tonight so I'll be running trains and working on setting up a skywriting aeroplane over the layout.  I like Fife's comment: I enjoy this thread as my 'clubhouse' too. As Chief always says, all are welcome. Praying for those who need prayer.

Well Mr. Eagles, truth be known I am a few miles west of home today Cool, it's all good :)

Just a few. Laugh

Morning.  Going into the 50's with lots of sun.  Getting ready to go to Todd's.  No report from the Gun and Knife show [text from Jeanie].  Know it is a zoo.  Pickups were streaming by my house this AM headed to Raleigh.  I can just guess.  County north of us is a little "redhecky".

Have a good weekend.

Good Morning, 33 and sunny at the Jersey Shore.

Today it is service the pickup and the Explorer. It is hard to believe but the 2007 GMC has 186,167 miles on it. Then start to take down the outside Christmas decorations and lights.

Chief: Enjoy the show. Just be cool around the media. Smile and nod.

Jonadel: I do not see Pa or NJ colored. Maybe a trip to York?

Brutus: I will let you know when I resolve this issue with Yahoo Messenger. I even uninstalled it, reinstalled it and started a new account. I will have my son in law and daughter check it out.

Fife and Bo, well said.

Bo, I know what you mean about having a Hobby Shop close by. We have one that opened about  year ago. He does not have much but AF53 and I try to support him. He is a nice guy and trying to make it.

LV, enjoy the concert and the trip to the LHS.

Chuck: TV was much simplier when we had 8 or 9 channels. And it was FREE! Good Luck!

Laz, I just got back from a 2 mile walk with our dog Mack and cat Chester. People get a laugh out of those 2. The 3 of us sat and watched the eggrets for about 10 minutes.

Prayers for all in need.

Enjoy the day!

Good morning. It's 31° with 100% humidity. There will be a few clouds today. The high will be 62°.

Slightly cooler this morning than what the weather guesser had guessed it was going to be. Layout work has come to a standstill due to lack of funds for such. The only project on the table at this time is the grain elevator. I have most of what I need for it. I still need to make a base for everything to be secured to. I hope the surprises are over with.

A bright sunrise, even with a real nippy temperature is still a great way to start off on a Saturday.  I sit in the sunlight drink my home made Late concoction of Foglifter coffee with a huge scoop of vanillla ice cream in it and then enjoy reading what's going on in toy train world.  My whole week has actually followed this pattern.

After my morning chores, I'll be playing fix-up on the trains.  Our mall layout has undergone some major reworking this week; a number of tighter radius curves have been reconfigured O72.  Wiring is also proceeding well.

The many acquisitions over many years creates a small but enjoyable challlenge of selecting locomotives to run in order to keep their legs shaken out. This is akin to going out and starting a classic car every few weeks so that you keep a charged battery, and a motor and bushings and other systems alive and limber.

I ahve a few sets that have been in their boxes too long, and it will be nice to see them run again, e.g., the two UP Overland sets from the 1980's.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday,

And also, thanks to those of you who answered my questions about how to post pictures.  Your help allowed me to remember some things I forgot (making the hyperlink live),  and I about have it worked out.

Random thoughts...

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean one should always speak so freely.

A hobby is for fun.  CTT is my clubhouse.  I'm not going anywhere else.

Brent is my friend.  We will walk together at YORK..

Good evening guys,

.........You know, I was thinking about something someone said about social networking and I think I got what he was saying.  I started thinking though, really after my friend left this afternoon, that if it were not for forums like this I would not have learned nearly as much as I have about model railroading or gotten nearly as far as I have on my railroad.  My friend who visited and spent several hours with me and my railroad was really the first person to do so in quite some time.  I have simply not met many people in my local area who are into O gauge railroading.  Matter a fact I am the only person I know of in my town who is into 3-rail O gauge.  We don't have a train shop or what I would even call a full-line hobby shop any more where you can buy needed supplies.  The closest shop is probably about an hour away.   The hobby magazines do a good job and are inspirational, but they can't cover everything.  The forum as helped me alot with issues regarding electrical (such as train protection), problems with switches, signalling, weathering and how to approach different aspects of scenery to name just a few.

Yes, somethimes a forum thread can go askew and once in awhile even get a little ugly.  People will be people and sometimes it is not pretty.  But in the big scheme of things I feel blessed that there are forums like this to help modelers like me learn to do better modeling.  The friendships and comradery that can develop are pretty cool too. Just some thoughts I was having.

Good night everybody!  Bo  Smile

Amen.  I think I will dwell on these thoughts today.

Tap tap tap.

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more.
