Srguy, not sure if you were asking about mine, but my road is acrylic paint, applied directly to my table top. I mix random tones to give it variations of the gray tone. I sprinkle sand into the wet paint and paint over. I put "cracks" in the pavement by streaking with charcoal and smoothing with a dry brush. The station tracks have strips of 1/16" balsa cut for proper wheel clearance inbetween the rails (sorry can't recall the dimension) and brought up to the proper height with shims of cardboard. this allows me to taper the approach to the platform and make the transition from ballasted mainline track to the street surface/station track.
Telephone booth came with the people and benches, model power brand. it was originally yellow plastic, but i thought it looked cheap so I painted it red.
Curious .... what material did you use to make the irregular road and the in between the tracks in the first picture??
do you all remember your first train set on a board with only your imagination to fill in the blanks.
well that is my scenery I just dream of what it is and knowing someday it just might happen.
I do like seeing all that others here have done gives me ideas and sometimes a how to do mine in a certain problem area now if I can just do it ahhhh there in lies the trouble motivation past running the layout.
Great train Doug!

Doug -- what a wonderful idea, you guys are the BEST!!! If a permanent layout is in the future, I'll wager that many on this forum would contribute if $$$ become an issue, I know I would. Way to go

So many roads, so little time.
Finally was able to get a few photos of a joint project of the SD3Railers and the All Gauge Toy Train Assoc. In late October/early November our club was approached by Rady's Children's Hospital about setting up a Christmas layout in the lobby for patients and their families to enjoy during the holiday period. With such relatively short notice and some tweeking of their requirements we were able to put together something that has been very popular. All items are push button operated.

Some shots from this year's Christmas layout. I decided to use the On30 this season instead of the Flyer. The photos read as the display does, left to right.
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
There's very little on the internet that I can find on Weaver trains. I'm not sure when these were built (PRR Sharknose A-B Brunswick) but they appear to be new unused and came packaged in styrofoam with no box. I can say that there are 2 motors, a very loud horn, constant voltage headlight and it runs great .... can start off on a crawl and power up with ease. Can anyone provide further info on this engine??
The chain drive was Weavers earliest system, I don't think any of their 3 rail engines use that drive chain anymore...S.J.

Cans I think .... very good runner so far ... smooth and powerful. The box was missing .... just styro packaging. Probably just a few years old .... never run. No complaints so far .... like I said ... a super deal.
srguy Hey Kev ... thanks but I'm no artist. Using simple stuff like kitty litter My cats would love that! (cheap) and the foam used in floral displays (ground with a rasp and spay painted) I was able to create some dimension on the layout. Jim
