We went to vote just after 9 and breezed right through. Just like cattle everyone just moved along. After my nap I will go back and vote again. Smile. Chuck I see your back to Cheerios, just enjoy them. We also did some grocery shopping and now I will re-Laz for awhile..S.J.

Don  -- we have similar tastes in bridgesThumbs Up  I had seen an article in CTT about this project and decided to add it to the layout after I had laid down track, fortunately I did it before had done much scenery work.  This is where I would like to expand across the room in front of the gas fireplace, I need to be able to get to that fireplace as that's the basement and it get's a bit chilly in the winter!

This is a view of the long room, the computer table and bar would have to go.

This is view from the fireplace looking west, again--furniture has to go but there would be a nice wide aisle to see both sides.  The only problem would be that I would like to make the tables 40" deep and that's a long reach.

So tempting and I think the boss is in favor of it!

Jon,

Such a great looking room!  Hope you have another location for the bar!  (Imagine the computer desk has another home planned.)  Hate to see you loose that bar, really nice looking!  Wouldn't want to give up the one we have in our train room.

Regarding the bridge, you might want to check availability.  My friend Bob was trying to get one, and barely found it.  I'm sure you could find it on MTH's "find it" feature.

Would the bridge go in front of the gas heater providing access to the extension on the left side of the room, how long is the proposed area?   Sure like the looks of the existing layout!!!!!!

Jon.........Let's see.  We have perfection from my vantage point.  Beautifully finished off train cave and layout that includes:  curtains and shades, pictures and plaques hung, train shelves, under-the-layout storage with curtains to discretely store inventory and hide secret acquisitions, wall-to-wall carpeting, overhead and lamp lighting, PC desk and communication hardware, A BAR, AND A WOOD BURNUNG STOVE!!!!  Perhaps a wide screen with surround sound to replace the tube TV in the corner  ????  A jacuzzi and/or a sauna??? Wink

Look, Jon, even Cindy Crawford has a mole.  I couldn't find anything lacking with your stellar arrangement.  Why disrupt perfection?  Thumbs UpSmile, Wink & Grin

Good morning all,

The SP Ray cooking show is back in session.  Bought some fish fillets at the market yesterday called arrow tooth flouder.  Turns out they are not the kind of flounder I thought they were.  They are nice looking white fish fillets but in reading the reviews on them I find that they tend to get mushy when cooked.  Did not find one good review on them.  The problem is that they have some kind of enzyme in their flesh that causes them to get mushy when cooked.  Up until recently, the commercial fisheries have not sought after them.  They are suppose to be even more plentiful than pollock which is used in just about every processed fish product from Alaska.  Anyway, I think I may have bought a pig in a poke.  Let you know how they turn out.  Now I know why they were a bargain.

Getting ready to go vote now.  Talk to you later,

Lunch Break:

A little late for lunch but a busy morning. Just got back to the shop from checking out a few problems. The good news is that the engine in our F350 is fine. Those V10s are tough. The best news is that the injured lineman is improving.

Still no power to Af53's and my house. Add Mom to the list.

Fife: Starting the count. 542 will go quick. Beer

Jeffrey: The pacer next to the gas station. Remember the Pacer Commercial where the guys have the 6' sub in the back seat?

Laz: Sometimes I think retirement means working your butt off for free. Good luck hunting!

RT: Those dryers are sharp on the inside and the covers. Our appliance service guys are always getting cuts, some sever with numerous stitches. Be careful.

Rich: Careful out on the calls tomorrow. With the winds and the soft ground it is ripe for the trees to come down.

Jon: I agree with RI Jack. Why mess with perfection.

RI Jack: Cindy Crawford has a mole??? Whistling

Back to work,

John

Good Afternoon From Sunny And COLD Taxachusetts,

Got up this morning to 28 degree temperatures ((season overnight low so far) with a forecast high today of 41.  Looks like we'll get hit with the Nor'easter tomorrow night.  1"-2" of rain, winds gusting 40-50mph, and we sit on the edge of the snow line, with accumulation "to be determined."

HudsonJohn........I know it is of little consolation, but you have all of our continued prayers you somehow manage to get through this non-stop debacle of biblical proportions and hit the finish line, retired, and with some great stories to tell around the fire this Christmas with family and friends. Thumbs UpAngel

Spanky........hope Tyler's treatment has gone on uninterrupted. Angel

BOC......that beer is heavy!!!! Beer Let the wifey stock the shelves in the future. Smile, Wink & GrinAngel

Brutus...... hope Char continues her comeback from the crud.  How well is Chewy rebounding!  Angel

Jeffrey.......it sounds like you are making a comeback.  Lay low and don't answer the phone!! Smile, Wink & Grin Angel

KEV.........our local schools have and do provided their facilities for voting.  The schools carry on regardless.

LAZ and Chief......don't they do background checks on guys like you BEFORE they issue hunting licenses?

LAZ.........maybe you should delay putting up the fence panels until AFTER this storm passes. Whistling

Fife......only 260,160 work minutes until retirement for you!!!! Laugh

I went to the hardware store yesterday, dropped $147 on stuff I have been meaning to get over time. Bang Head

Later, gang!

I don't think I remember that one. I would think it'd fit though. I had two Pacer's at one time. A 1975 X model and a 1979 DL model. Both had 258's with auto trans and ran great. I sold the X in the mid 80's and saw it running around town until sometime in the late 90's. We gave the DL to my grandmother and she managed to get T-boned on the right side by a truck! She came out without a scratch! The police said that was only due to cars construction. Had it been an LTD II or a Zephyr or God forbid a Pinto she would've been dead.

The road crew was out here again today putting down asphalt. Got some photos as they worked their way past just north of my yard. Just posting links here in deference to a member here who told me photos make the thread unfriendly.

To me I rather see the pics also I have just reg dsl from time warner not the ultra high speed or anything and yes once in a while it may run a little slow but rather have the pics now if I goto my lap top its faster well its a higher processing computer than this desk top ( this desk top is 3 years old and was probably already 2 years behind as got it at a low price but new from factory)

Well was going to build cabinets for the 6' between the big cabinet and the freezer but was at Lowe's and found two 36" that will work perfectly While I was there getting the counter top. I used my military 10% discount also. Big Smile

So now just need to polyurethane them and will be ready to go to cold out side today

Hope all having a good day

Today I got a surprise in the mail. No, not an exploding box though I've received a couple that were ticking.

This was a large yellow envelope. In it I found a 1976 Fleischmann catalog for HO and N Scales and eleven Dream, Plan, Build medallions in their displays.

Jeff,

           Keep the photos coming.

Jon,

Thumbs Up I'd be more than happy with that layout as it is.

Rich,

Is there anyone in your area than rebuilds alternators?  The voltage regulator in a wonderful AdvanceBang Head alternator died on me, and a local guy only charged me $36 to install a new regulator and brushes.  Next to an alternator from a junked KL, that was the cheapest option.

Banks,

Don't forget there is a Greenberg show in Monroeville this weekend.Smile  I'd go if I didn't have to spend my one and only day off this week at the dentist yesterday.Sad

Been busy lately.  Did my part to end the nightmare on the way home.  I was looking at a 736 on the bay, but someone beat me to it.

Probe - IF I could find a rebuild kit, I'd do it myself.  Its a Mitsu alternator and I can't find a kit.....anywhere Bang Head. You name it, I've looked there....Amazon, Rock Auto, Advance, AutoZone, et al  I have enough tools to do it.....

This was an flea bay purchace, I have a 30 warranty backed by the bay and the reseller.  I though it would be ok, since it came from INDIANA!!!!!!  go figure Bang Head

well, I spent most of my day in traffic after witnessing a fatal accident happen right in front of me on the interstate. It was the most horrifying scene I have ever seen. the pictures in the article don't show even half of it.  The sound on impact is completely indescribable.  It was all I could do to finish my truck run today.  My problems for the moment don't seem so bad after all. It really gets ya thinking.

Rich,

That's suprising about the rebuild kit.  I think the alternator that Mazda used on the KL was a Mitsu as well, but I am not 100%.  I know for sure that the distributor and Variable Resonance Induction System solenoids are Mitsu though.Dots - Sign  I won't buy used electrical parts after the used distributor I bought on the bay that supposedly was "remanufactured by Ford".  100% used, original, and filthy.Angry  It's funny how used a part becomes from the time the picture was taken until it arrives here.SoapBox Good luck with the "Buyer Protection".

Right now it is the calm before the storm. As of now, Mom, AF53 and my house has no power. Thanks JCP&L / First Energy. No one has even seen 1 of their trucks or any of the crews from contractors or other utilities. Once the bad weather hits, that is it. Our goal is to have EVERYONE up by Friday.

WR, that is some accident. I wonder what caused it? Maybe a medical condition.

Good evening all,

It is rainy now in SE Indiana, but sunny earlier in the day.  The "saucy wench" and I just returned from a short vacation at Spring Mill Park near Mitchell, Indiana.  One of the highlights was seeing the longest trestle railroad bridge in Indiana.  Indiana RR uses it now to haul black diamonds.  It took a bit to get there, but definitely worth the effort.  Back to work for three days.  TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

No more calls or ads - AMEN to that, Bro!

Well Fedex brought my birthday present a day early - I've got vids here and here  if you want to see them.  This is just my 3rd diesel purchase!  That's my current "layout", lol - very portable.  Can't wait to build a permanent (er) one!

Char is doing a lot better on the meds - they just needed to do another round of meds.  Chewy is doing well - need to watch her to make sure he takes it easy tho, as she gets wound up and wants to do too much.

John - thanks for keeping us posted!

Jeff - keep the pics coming, bro.  Also your posts.  You take care of yourself!

TARDIS is ready and we have oreos, banilla, and rootbeer of course - lets' go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well I have the Dream, Plan, Build medallion displays hanging on my wall. I wouldn't mind having the last three medallions to fill the collection out but that probably won't happen. It looks like there's supposed to be fourteen. I have eleven.

No work on the layout today. I was leaving bloody footprints earlier so I changed the dressing on my foot. No wonder it was bleeding. There was a three quarter inch shard of bone sticking out of the wound, which is slowly healing. If I could stay off my feet for a long while without people demanding my time it might have a chance.

Discovered today I have another leaking pipe. This one is under the trailer where the plastic line comes out of the ground to join with the trailers copper line. I found it this morning when I was extending the kitchen drain line. I could do that without going under the trailer. Fixing this new leak would mean going under there. The sewage line is right there and with open wounds I want to stay away from that! I asked my nieces husband about it and he said he'd take a look as soon as he can. It could be a crack in the pipe, a loose connection or a bad gasket. In the meantime I still have water.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
