Well, missed out on cyber Monday.  Wifey and I did purchase 10 acres in Hampshire County, WV.  Now, I need to start considering selling a 13x13 winter layout with a 55 year old cape cod covering it.

WOW Cool Fifedog, Take it from me acres are neat but a lot of work and we only have 8.2. We shopped for it for over 7 years. A lifetime dream come true. You can move anything. It took me longer to move the garage stuff than all of the house.

It is fun doing the build. We plan to down size when wifey is ready to retire. I know I will not be able to keep up with all that this land requires in another ten years.

Neat, enjoy your dream.Yes I know where you are coming from. Building a dream is what life should be all about. Wink A great place for the Grand Kids to play and grow. Ours love it out here, as for their folks, well it may be something else. For us, Sandra and I have been blessed and had the chance to build something for our family from scratch twice. Many never get the chance.

I think Roy is working on something the same too. Big Smile

Long day at the hunt.  Deerr but still no shooters.

From camera of my deep woods stand.  Two different bucks with big antlers.  Left beam on one is non-typical.

Dates and times on camera are not correct.  All within a week.

Fifey, great.  Now you can begin getting ready to be retarded.

Got a call today.  Retired pilot buddy [93] that flew US Navy and retired, started NC's Forest Service air force, flew Air America in Vietman and Cambodia, came back and retired as NC Forest Service  pilot died yesterday,  I have been invited to the private funeral on the "farm" where he lived.  Will go tomorrow morning.  Heard some wonderful stories about his "adventures".  Great pilot.  Outstanding shooter.  "God bless" was always his closing goodbye.

Looks like I'll have the a/c on tonight. Low of 55 and a 70% chance of rain. Maybe it'll wash some of the dust off my van.

Well, I'm still not feeling all that great. I'm calling it a night a bit early. I just can't keep me head up any longer. See y'all tomorrow.

Hello all

Another quiet evening on the mountain. A brisk 35 deg F out there tonight.

Landlord thanked me for sending the pics of the cleaned house and my new mailing address (hopefully where she will be sending the rest of my deposit soon). Looks like this all may be coming to an end finally.

Ray - Happy 53rd!

Chief - those pictures kinda look like the painting in my bedroom, but please don't set up another stand in there...Whistling Fair winds and following seas for your friendAngel

JimT - nice find!

Spent some time last night cleaning and repairing these little battery operated Thomas the Tank engine jobs, which are somewhere between HO and S scale in size. My friend's aforementioned 6yr old likes to play w/ them in the dirt and water, which tends to gum up the gears. I repaired one recently and then got a whole bagful of dead ones. Lots of little gears and parts, but fairly easily repairable. Just takes some patience. Plus I have a few donor engines if necessary.

CAUTION: Thomas fans may find the following images somewhat disturbing!

The current 'dead' line:

The parts yard:

And the ready line:

I think I will be able to get 7 operating ones out of the bag of 10 I got. At $12 - 14 apiece this will save my friend about $100. It's kind of like working on a real railroad too, at least shopwise. Early on I had to keep telling myself not to get too crazy on these things. Just get 'em back out on the line as fast as possible since more will be coming into the shop soon!

I also found a pretty good deal on a Marx 999 last night. Was even a better deal since I forgot about some shipping funds I had on account (Thanks JimT!) I promised my friend's kids that I would set up a train around the tree this year and I figure one of these is tough enough to take the abuse. I'll have it drag around the cars remaining from the late Marx windup. Plus, I've always wanted one of these and can have in on display at the new place.

Did someone write wash me on it yet? Seeing that all the time in Towanda.

Then again, we take school off for deer season, so I'm not surprised.

Chief,

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Fife,

Congrats.  Any plans for a future layout?

Bob,

Thanks.  Speaking of that 302, I'll post a video once I get home tomorrow.  It's done minus the coupler.

88,

Did you see the photo of my potential next project on FB?Whistling

Been playing with the 751 and 717 dump car.  Gilbert definitely had Lionel beat in the log loader department. The 751 is much more fun than Lionel's 164 or 364.

The 322AC is nice, but is DOA.  Probably just a bad harness, but I won't know for sure until I open it..

Jim - nice. That's something I've been looking at lately.  How about some pics on the operation on the 322ac?

Brent - nice pics. The little ones always brighten up a day.

Kev -I've been reading some of your posts on some of the other theads. Careful. Lol.

Ray - congrats on your anniversary! 1959 was a long time ago. That's the year my bride was born.

Speaking of my wife, we have been in the er for the past 4 hours. Seems the sonogram shows gallstones. So ill spend a few more hours here until she gets admitted. Gonna be a long night its almost 2:00 now.

For some reason that reminded me of the driving age here back in the 70's. Twelve. That made sense in a way. There were still a lot of farming families here back then. I know one thing I did quite a bit of was driving the farm truck. It was actually a '58 Willy's Jeep with overload springs and an extended frame with a six foot bed. Rode like a tank!Dead Guess you could say we had a Jeep Wrangler before Jeep even came out with it!

Good morning. It's 50° with 100% humidity. It's supposed to be mostly cloudy with a high of 58°. There's a small chance of rain in the morning.

I'm feeling much better this morning. Still have some minor balance issues. I suspect this cold I have is responsible for that. We had rain last night so it's already very muggy this morning. Start doing anything outside and it's not long before you're soaked.

I have no idea what this day has in store for me. Plans for my future that I don't know about worry me. My father is supposed to be having a couple of Hospice people come today. We'll see what comes of that. He'll also be placing an ad in the local paper for a live-in nurse to care for my mother on a 24/7 basis. Something has to be done as she can't take care of herself any longer.

I may be able to get some work done on the layout today. I just don't know.

Mornin' Fellas

Probe - Yes I saw the pic, and if you take that on you are crazy... Wink

Chief - Sorry for your loss Angel

Had to mow the leaves last night in the dark since it is to rain today. Don't like doing that because it is very dangerous (can't see sticks and rocks that blew into the yard due to high winds in Sunday). But got er done wihtout any injuries.

Have to get working on setting up the Christmas decorations tonight. Hope to get that done tonight and tomorrow, then be able to rest Thursday and Friday. Saturday there is a show in Timmonium (Fife?) that I hope to make. May take the munchkin if TheQ is proctoring exams again.

The day you can't link to other sites to help someone out is the day I'll stop posting on this forum. This was NOT an advertisement, so there is nothing wrong with the post. We've been doing this for years...

CTT doesn't want you posting items for-sale here, which I get, but if someone is looking for an item there is nothing wrong with posting a link to a site that has it for-sale - we post links to EBay alot!
