I know OlD MILs and BINNELA don't mix but cake is ok?

ENJOY your day,

I'm gonna be eating banilla and washing it down with beer for dinner....and not because it's Brutus' B-Day.  If I lose power tonight due to the storm, then none of the ice cream will melt and none of the beer will go skunky.  My religion tells me it is a sin to waste.  Smile, Wink & Grin.

Just a quick one before I go find a pillow.

Back at work. Was a busy week off. Corvan is not rolling just yet but is much closer. Will post some pics later.

Thoughts and prayers for those in need.

Does anyone have problems with this site erroring out and having to reopen.  IE9 on Windows 7.  I open three forums at once.  CTT errors out abut 75% of the time and has to reopen.  The other two, never. Sigh

Yeah Chief, If I try to log on from anyplace but the home page I get the error message but if it hit the back button it will go back to where I was and I will be logged in.

If you click the torn page button by the header it might just do the trick..it makes IE9 think it is IE8 then on this site.

I've got a few sites that have issues with IE9 here...

Then again..if it persists you might want to check Google Chrome...

I am running XP with IE8. Last update to this PC was back in 2008

Well no solid food today and the fun starts after 6:00 pm. Sad

Good morning. It's 58° with 47% humidity. That's low here. It'll be sunny with a high of 72°.

Had breakfast with my father this morning. Eggs, baco, biscuits and gravy. Then I went out to the machine shop and put a good blade on his homemade table saw. He had to take my mother to the hospital this morning for lab work so that's his morning shot. Later we may be ripping some more boards for his office project.

I have nothing scheduled for today. I'm trying to get as much rest as possible. Yes, to you younger physically fit types that's sitting/laying around being lazy. A complete 180° change from my younger days when I couldn't stand to be still for more than a couple of minutes. Boy, if I knew then what I know now! Hindsight is 20/20 and in my case it's in for close examination for crystal clarity.

Hopefully today will be an easy day.

Good morning all,

Just a few sprinkles this morning.  Just enough to mess up the cars.  Actual showers forcast for tomorrow with snow flurries in the mountains.

Spanky, sorry you're having to deal with such horrendous traffic and problem fall out from the storm.  More prayers for TylerAngel.

Trying to get back to normal after election.  At least no more phone calls and bumper stickers and yard signs.  A lot of teeth knashing and wailing going on here from the losing side.  Suppose that's inevitable.  Prayers for unity in our divided country and a good recovery in the economy.

Talked to friend who attended Cal Stewart meet and he said he was dissapointed at the small amount of buyers.  Everybody was a seller.  Even attendance by the public was not too good on Sunday according to him.  He liked the new venue in Ontario, Ca. near the airport though.  Easy in and out for sellers.  Maybe part of the problem for the public was high admission charge just to look around.  It was $15 plus $9 for parking.  On Saturday for members it was$30 plus $9 parking.  Still a lot cheaper than going to York from here.  The venue moved this year from Pasadena to Ontario.  Longer drive for majority of people who live closer to L.A. but good for those obviously near Ontario.  I did not go this year.

Chief, good luck on the hunting!  Glad you got some cue before you left.

Feel badly for my friend who lost his wife this week from a blood clot to the heart.  Prayers for him Angel  He is is one of the four of us that get together to run trains at my layout once in a while.  I have known him and is wife for over 45 years.

Aloha. Grey but warmer. For once, Chicago is between a winter storm out west and one out east - in a nice big bubble of hot air. (Political references unstated). Not feeling well today - might be the big celebration of Brutus' birthday on the TARDIS last night. Whew. Spent some time on the layout. Taking the youngest to poetry reading at school tonight. Prayers for DJ's commute tonight. Jack and Kev, I guess I've been fortunate to pick up an extended warranty or two along the way - they've replaced countless prematurely dead electronics. And I had one on my first new car - a '96 Chevy Cavalier. Back when manuf. warranties weren't so hot, it came in handy replacing a few big items... But I wouldn't get one today... (except on a new Lionel or MTH engine  Wink  )

Afternoon fellas and gals;        Been quite a stressfull, straining struggle here for nine days without power. However, all is well with me and mine.  Got power yesterday at 3PM. Reminded me of the old days when we used to wash up in a basin, made hot water with a kerosene heater!   Told my grandkids about that, they thought i was from another planet. My grown children had a tough time of it; what with no tv,cell service and showers they were just miserable. Spoiled and deprived; how sad.  I was lovin' it!    Wifey and i managed just fine. Went down to the lake with some buckets for flushing the toilet; had a battery thingy for the light; why we even talked to each other for a change!   Didn't know she got new glasses 'till i said there something different about you.  We should lose power more often just to get re-connected.   Seriously tough, people are hurting out there big time. Watching the photos on tv breaks your heart.  Prayers and tolerance for all.            later.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

We got up to a frosty morning but by afternoon it was sunny and 50s. We took the church seniors trip to Lansing our state capital. Then a self guided tour of the building and house chambers. One in the group said she knew of a good place to eat, it was in the old Lansing train depot. The outside is unchanged but of course the interior is now a dinning area. I had Butter Pecan tonight, but the thingy crew will still get their banilla..S.J.

Dinner Break:

We got hit with 4" to 12" of snow, depends where you were in NJ. Driving was treacherous last night and early this morning. The sun came out the temps rose and most of the snow melted. Because of this we had 20,000 customers without power and still 70,000 left from Sandy. We lost power in the shop last night after a nearby substation blew. We were back on in a few hours.

Still no power back home. Now JCP&L is saying Nov. 10 or 11.

DJ: Continued prayers for Tyler and the family. I think that it is ironic. You are starting a new job in all of this crazy weather and I am ending mine with retirement.

RI Jack and Laz: We think alike about the beer and the ice cream.

Traindood, Ken, Good to hear from you. Glad that you got your power back.

Be Safe:

John

Good luck, Kev!

Long day today - managed to really get on the nerves of two people, so I guess that was a pretty good day Whistling  Char and Hannah went to see Celtic Thunder (big fans) so I had to go to the HS for a big presentation as my daughter will enter HS next year.  Oh - and I got a call tonight from Trains Magazine!  Yes, I was interviewed!  I can't wait to read about it in some future issue!  Apparently, the world will soon know that I do not work for any company or government agency that is involved with railroads in any way whatsoever, nor do I have any connection to the railroad industry - except in my dreams!  It went well and by the end of the brief (approximately two minutes) interview, we were both laughing - completely at ease in the moment.  It was wonderful.  I hope they can capture that.  I'll send you all free issues when it comes out!

Tardis is ready and we will be having the last of the cookie cake and cupcakes from my birthday blowout, along with banilla and Old Mills and Yuengs!  Let's go Thumbs Up

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning:

It feels like I am in the movie Groundhog Day. Hopefully we will be done by Sunday. It feels great when people thank you and you know the feeling when people cuss you out. I see both sides. Last night at dinner a guy wanted to buy us a drink for our "hard work". That beer would have tasted great but we have a no drinking policy.

AF53: Power??? A few blocks away!!! I heard that we don't have power is that they ran out of wire at the 5&10 in Pixley. (Sorry, I stole it from "Green Acres".)

Kevin: Good luck with the "procedure".

Brutus: I request my copy signed also. Congrats. Looking forward to reading it.

Chief: Good Luck hunting.

Laz: 21 to go!!!

The lineman who was hurt is home being treated as an outpatient and doing well.

Good morning. It's 51° with 93% humidity. It'll be partly cloudy with a high of 76°.

Not cool enough this morning for the heater. Temp in the trailer is 68. No plans for today other than cleaning up the layout a bit IF nobody has me doing something else. So many things come up spur of the moment now that I can't plan my activities anymore. It's like I have a sign on my forehead that says 'Available For Service'. I'm so busy doing things for others that I have no time or energy for myself. If I just had a few days with no interruptions I could get some things done. As it is about the time I start on something the darn phone rings! Nine times out of ten it's my father wanting me (in most cases TELLING me) to do something for him. There's no planning to it. I can't work it into a schedule. Just whatever it is is important to him so it has to be done NOW. Things that I have to do for myself or things I want to do don't seem to matter. I just have to be at his beck and call and drop everything.

Well I shouldn't be putting my problems on others but it helps to get it off my chest once in a while.

Hi GUYZ,

34 and frosty here.  Took dog for walk got PT done.  Today gonna try for the Big Boy in the woods, like DA CHIEF.  I saw him at 3:45 yesterday but unfortunatly he was about 60 yards away from me.  Watch him walk and brouse slowly down the mountain never knowing I was there.  He took his time and just walked and ate. One of the biggest bucks I ever saw in the woods.  Big 8+ pointer but with heavy horns, WOW still can't get the picuture out of me head.  Gonna try again tis afternoon.

HUDSONJOHN glad you and RAY and JOHNSSON are ok.  Remember less then 20 dayz.

Aloha and TGIF. Spent a pleasant evening squiring the youngest around to his science club at the library then a poetry 'event' at school - love to see the enthusiasm of the young. Missed the TARDIS though. Today might hit 54. The sun is finally out and I'm on my way to return a few things and take an unemployed buddy to lunch before he saddles up to head out to sunny San Diego - looking for work. Prayers for Kev's procedure and for John's buddy's recovery at home - for Tyler and everyone in the weather at points east. SJ, that's sounds like a cool place to have had lunch in the capital...

Hello all,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear Tyler is doing well. Extra Angel to those suffering the effects of SANDY

Belated Happy B-Day  to Brutus

More items on the to do list than time allows this weekend. Top of the list is digging the flowers that can’t take an outdoor winter. That will be followed by a final cut of the grass combined with relocating the fallen leaves to the garden. If that all gets done I’ll move on to repairing the Sandy loosened tin on the barn roof. Sunday AM is my turn to help count and deposit the church collection

Probe   I’d like to go to the Greenberg show but the list above has higher priority. Besides the last couple of times I went I was really disappointed in the quantity and quality of dealers combined with over the top pricing. I’ll probably make the one in February. There is a TCA show near Cranberry the first part of December. Have you ever gone to it?

Chief…….  around here a big fat Doe is what leaves the biggest hoof prints  Surprise

Laz....Hope ya get a clear shot at that big Buck

Traindood. Glad t’ see ya!!!

Best get back to the SS fund

Prayers for those in need

Lunch Time:

Beautiful Sunny Day here in Jersey. Work is humming along with no set backs. Work on our garage is progressing well. The contractor is gutting the offices, restrooms, locker rooms and lunch room. So far I have not had to do look ups and I have spent the most of the time at the garage.

Still no power at my house.

Laz, good luck with the buck.

TGIF!!!!

Off tomorrow......Smile, Wink & Grin  Up to 70 tomorrow.....Smile, Wink & Grin

51 here amidst the melting snow.....got 6" yesterday morning.  Had to shovel out for interview in Pennsauken, in the shadow of Philadelphia.  Have new job in hand, not much of a raise, but if I can't resolve the transportation issues, because I can't keep breaking down on the way to work everyday.  Mass transit is not an option.

Car shopping gives me a headache....Bang Head.

Almost went to Belmar yesterday.  Responce didn't get back in time.  Hear the whole fire department has lost their homes and living in tents behind the firehouse.  Very sad.  Will be doing 12-24 hour shifts to help them out.  Might happen Sunday.  Saw pictures of Seaside Heights, devistation was tremendous......I'm lost for words.  No natural gas for at least 6-8 months for the shore.  Mantoloking lost at least 15 homes due to natural gas fires.

Selling Christmas trees for the fire dept. again, Christmas decorations commence 17 November 1300 hrs (yes, I'm in charge of that too...)

Angel for the Jersey Gang - Tyler included....Smile, Wink & Grin, and all those in need.

That reminds me. I need to get my tree ready. I have a 6" one that should work well. Some adhesive spray and multi color glitter will make it sparkle nicely.
