From what I can tell, HP Photo Shop will not let one post photo to another web site for viewing. The only ones that can see the photos are the ones that have an account with HP Photo Shop, and that is why I could see my photo using the properties mode of the photo. That is why I was having success and I think Jim could see his photos.

We're done here Robin.

I just downloaded the IMAGE PHOTO UPLOADER from photoisland (about 1 meg) and boy, does it work slick!
Here's a photo used to test it. The jonboat is built from balsa wood...the strakes on the bottom are bare wire CA'd (Crazy Glue) on top of the balsa. Base coat of silver, with the green scratched off to represent typical wear from dragging it up on the shore.

PhotoIsland users will love the uploader!

I have tried and tried to use the HP site but can't get my photos to load. I browse and place the jpg in the window but then can't find the download button.

I emailed the webmaster of HP but he didn't have any suggestions.

I'll post pictures next week or later this week of my construction on my usual tripod website that crashes when 2 or 3 people get on it.

Great! This means that the CTT site is not the problem in the least. It is the HP photo site.

What I did was post a page on the web, just a simple web page. Picture two was inserted while HP Photos Web Page was open and I was logged on. The photo showed for me at home. I closed the Photo Web Page, put the url to the simple web page on the CTT site and of course like you, could not see the second photo but a red X appeared. I then opend the simple web page using IE, guess what the second photo appeared as the red X.

I think the CTT forums IMG codes somehow can pull the photo from MY PHOTOS folder for viewing and that is why I thought everything was working great.

Therefore, for HP to work the site has to be opened or be the poster on CTT to see the photo.

Spankybird,

Click on this URL and tell me what you see and what you don't see. You should see two different photos.

http://www.gahannawedding.com/Video/hp_photo_test_page.htm

I think you will see the first, but not the second.

Thanks

The answer is: Use photoisland for this forum. I"ve spent many hours trying to figure out how to post from HPphoto with little success. Perhaps it can be done but the method escapes me.

From HP photo site:
What kind of security do you have for my photos?
You select who can initially view your photos by inviting family and friends to your album. Please note that persons you invite to view will be able to forward that information to others without your permission. We suggest you send invitations to trusted sources only.

[?][?][?][?]
Somehow I need to tell HP that CTT has permission to look at my photos, but who is CTT? Is Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) securtiy stoping the chain effect between web pages because it is deeming it unsafe [?][?][?][?][?][?]

Hi Buckeye,

And the story thickens. Buckeye, when you are log on to your HP site, we all can see your pic.

I got it, you can never log off the HP site.

I'm at work and all I am seeing are red X's. I am using Windows NT at work and I am using Windows XP at home with a cable connection.

More [?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?] than answers.

When I'm logged on at home I can see the photos, which may mean that the HP photo site or the operating systems make the difference. My computer at home is telling HP to release the site for viewing. Has anyone used HP for an auction?

OK guys,
This is just too weird. You must be playing with me. Buckeye, I am seeing the ugly red X on both my home box and also at work.

Now the funny thing is one time last night I did see your posting on the Sunday pics, but I noticed that you were also on line. I wonder if it only post them when your on line???[?]

Is it tied to you and your pass word??

I'm seeing red Xs, too. I'm curious - has ANYBODY actually posted photos succesfully from the HP site? It sounds to me like HP doesn't allow "hotlinking" from that sight. I know that Yahoo! does this in order to keep bandwidth costs under control. Just curious...

Guys--

Thanks a million! Ran across this string by accident. I have been trying to post a couple of old proto photos on the MR website in one of the strings for a couple of weeks with no success until now. Photo Island worked much better than HP photo.

PhotoIsland seems a bit easier than HP

PI has a desktop photo-loader that allows you to Drag and Drop your photos from your files without going into the website. However, to create a URL to the photo you must be on the website and have the photo selected.

Jim, Below is the coding from a photo that is on HP's Photo Pages

http://www.cartogra.com/sessions/07888799281/36162659lg.jpg

The above coding must go between the CTT's img brackets to work correctly. Copy my coding above and put it between the brakets. You should have the same photo as I have below.

And here is the photo.

I always said that it was possible, thanks for figuring it all out Buckeye. It sounds like the critical step missing was the properties part of your instructions. I look forward to seeing even more photos posted here.[tup][tup][swg]

See the last post. It didn't work except for the people that post the photo to HP Photo.
